Chapter 755 No Way to Prove
Edith intentionally moved aside, trying to distance herself from Julian, and looked seriously at Katherine, saying, "No, he's not the George I grew up with! Mommy, since the day we came back from the picnic, George is miss, and this person isn't George, he just looks like George!"
Katherine couldn't quite understand Edith's words and her gaze fell back on Julians' face. He looked exactly the same; she couldn't see any problem.
Moreover, how could there be two children in the world who look exactly the same?
She had only given birth to one set of twins; how could there be a child who looked exactly like George?
"Edith, don't talk nonsense," Katherine said sternly.
Edith looked serious, "Mommy, I'm not talking nonsense; he really isn't George!"
Julian didn't refute Edith's words, just stood silently to the side, looking down at his shoes.
Katherine felt that these two children were getting stranger and stranger. She stared at Edith, "How can you prove what you're saying is true?"
Edith was stumped by Katherine's question. She didn't know how to prove what she was saying was true because the boy next to her did indeed look exactly like her brother George. Since she and her brother were twins, she could feel that this boy wasn't George, but she couldn't prove it.
Seeing Edith at a loss for words, Katherine couldn't understand what basis Edith had for her claims and thought it was just the children bickering.
"Alright! I don't care what the reason is, hitting each other is wrong. Now, both of you apologize to each other, or I won't care about either of you!" Katherine said sternly.
Julian hesitated for a moment, then followed Katherine's words and apologized to Edith first, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to step on your doll, and I shouldn't have hit you back."
Edith pouted, looking reluctant, and said grumpily, "I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have pushed you."
After they apologized to each other, Katherine's expression softened a bit. "Alright, both of you come here!"
Edith and Julian glanced at each other, and then each walked around the table to Katherine's side.
Katherine held Edith and Julian in her arms and said gently but firmly, "No matter what happens, you two, along with Charles, are siblings. You are the closest people to each other besides Mommy and Daddy, and you must never do anything to hurt each other, understand?"
Julian and Edith nodded in Katherine's arms.
Katherine continued earnestly, "If you have conflicts, you can talk it out. If you can't resolve it, come to me. If you ever hurt each other again, I really won't like you anymore!"
Julian and Edith nodded. They didn't have any serious conflicts; it was just that Julian accidentally stepped on Edith's doll, and Edith got angry.
They were just kids, and there was no need for the older one to always yield to the younger one. After all, it was their first time experiencing life, and at their age, they were still learning.
Katherine didn't want to argue about who was right or wrong, nor did she want to overly demand that her children always be accommodating. It was normal for children to be a bit willful sometimes.
But hitting each other was definitely wrong!
After talking with Edith and Julian for a while and making sure they truly made up, Katherine put them down and went to pick up Charles, who had been left out.
"George and Edith have made up. Come on, Charles, let's go downstairs and get some snacks to bring up. We'll all eat together!"
Charles, always the most sensible, nodded and opened his arms to welcome Katherine's embrace, "Okay!"
After Katherine left with Charles, the newly reconciled Edith and Julian showed their true attitudes.
Edith crossed her arms and said unhappily, "I will never make up with you! You can fool others, but you can't fool me. You're not George at all!"
Julian frowned and didn't give her a good look, "Fine, we don't have to make up! I just didn't want Mommy to be so angry, I didn't really want to make up with you!"
Edith looked at him disdainfully, "You're not George, and you still have the nerve to call her 'Mommy'! Don't you have your own mommy?"
Julian was at a loss for words.
He liked Katherine as his mommy, but he also knew that she wasn't his real mommy. He was taking George's mommy.
And his mommy was the one he couldn't bring himself to like, Sophia.
Seeing Julian not speaking, Edith jumped off the sofa, walked up to him, stared at him, and questioned, "Where did you take George? What are you trying to do by taking his place?"
Julian felt a bit guilty under her stare, "I am George!"
Edith sneered, "You're lying! You're not George, but just like George, you can't lie. When you lie, you blink your eyes non-stop!"
Julian, already feeling guilty, blinked even more, "You can't prove I'm not George!"
Edith said, "I can't prove it now, but that doesn't mean I can't prove it in the future! Just wait, I'll find evidence to expose you! If Mommy knows you're a little liar, she definitely won't let you off!"
Julian felt a bit sad thinking about Katherine's disappointed expression if she knew the truth.
He took a deep breath and admitted, "You don't need to find evidence! I'm indeed not George, and I never intended to take his place because I need to go back to my daddy. I just like your mommy and want to stay by her side. I'll leave on my own in a few days!"
Edith frowned, "You have a daddy?"
Julian nodded, "Yes."
Edith tilted her head and asked, "What does your daddy look like?"
Julian thought of Trevor and said proudly, "He is very handsome, the most handsome man in the world!"
Edith pouted and shook her head, "I don't believe it! The most handsome man in the world is Uncle Bernard!"
Julian said firmly, "Why would I lie to you? My daddy is really handsome. Uncle Bernard is also quite handsome, but he's a bit less handsome than my daddy!"
Edith thought for a moment, "I still don't believe it, unless you take me to see what your daddy looks like! Seeing is believing!"
