Chapter 22 Fell in Love with Me?

Katherine's eyes flickered, "Yes and no."

Alexander remained with his head down, flipping through a stack of documents, "So, is it or isn't it?"

Katherine spoke frankly, "The video was uploaded by that mistress, but the voice was indeed recorded by me using my phone and added later."

Alexander let out a deep hum, "I asked you to be a bridesmaid, but you took it upon yourself to ruin someone else's wedding. How do you plan to explain that?"

Katherine furrowed her brow, "Sir, I must tell you, this is your family's affair, and I shouldn't have meddled. But scumbags are a menace to society. I feel obligated to eliminate one whenever I encounter one!"

Alexander's lips curled slightly, tinged with sarcasm, "I didn't expect Ms. Galatea to be such a righteous avenger."

Katherine, filled with righteous indignation, continued, "That man, Hank, not only cheated on Teresa but also took the opportunity to touch my hand the moment we met. It's evident how despicable he is! Sir, I'm sure you wouldn't want your own niece to marry such a scumbag, right?"

Alexander glanced at her, "He touched your hand?"

"Yes! That trash would only bring harm to Teresa!"

"How did he touch you?"

Katherine felt Alexander was focusing on the wrong point, "Well, he pretended to shake hands politely, but then he took the chance to rub my palm provocatively."

Alexander's eyes darkened, and he remained silent.

They arrived at the Melville Manor.

Katherine got out of the car and walked towards the courtyard, lost in her own thoughts.

She thought to herself, "Sir seems to have a lot of work on his hands. He probably won't be coming home."

She didn't wait for him either.

Leander got out of the car and called out to her, "Ms. Galatea, please wait."

Katherine stopped and turned around, "What else is it?"

Leander took out a carefully wrapped painting from the back of the car and handed it to her, "This painting was taken by Mr. Melville as a token of gratitude for saving Madam Melville yesterday. Please accept it."

"Mr. Melville took this painting? Could it be...?"

Katherine was taken aback for a moment, excitement gleaming in her eyes. She unwrapped the brown paper covering the frame, and indeed, it was the painting "Late Autumn"!

"So, Mr. Melville took this painting at a high price as a token of gratitude for her! If only I hadn't let Frank bid, the auction house and the seller wouldn't have gotten away with selling it for a mere 10 million!"

Katherine pondered for a moment and walked back to knock on Alexander's car window.

The tinted glass slowly lowered, revealing Alexander's handsome profile, but he didn't look up at her.

Katherine said, "Sir, please get out of the car. I have something to tell you!"

Alexander's gaze remained on the documents in his hand as he replied, "The painting is rightfully yours. No need to say more."

Katherine emphasized, "No, it's not about the painting. I have something else to tell you!"

Alexander slightly turned his head to look at her. Katherine's bright eyes were filled with affection.

Suddenly, he became interested, "What does this little girl want to tell me?"

Alexander closed the document in his hand and got out of the car.

Alexander was much taller than Katherine. He looked down at her, his gaze shallow and cold. He said, "Go ahead."

Unexpectedly, Katherine pushed him against the wall, then opened her arms and embraced his sturdy waist shamelessly, boldly requesting, "Sir, touch my head!"

Alexander frowned, displeased, and narrowed his eyes, "Little one, have you fallen for me?"

Katherine blinked her big eyes, evading the question, "Hurry, touch my head!"

Alexander remained unfazed, a dangerous glint in his eyes. "I'll give you three seconds. Let go of me immediately."

Katherine furrowed her brow, not giving up. She boldly tiptoed and hooked her arms around Alexander's neck!

Alexander's deep blue eyes darkened as he watched her round face inch closer, carrying a fruity fragrance reminiscent of a child...

Katherine reminded, "Sir, your grandmother is watching from upstairs! Don't move; make it look real!"

Alexander hesitated, and he raised his gaze. Indeed, his grandmother's figure was peeking from the second-floor window...

Katherine's head began to sway, simulating a kissing motion, but it looked quite fake.

Alexander gazed at her, his eyes filled with a teasing smile. He then reached out, cupping the back of her head, and gently bent down, stopping at a close distance...

Katherine was taken aback. The two locked eyes, maintaining a tantalizing proximity, their breaths and heartbeats subtly changing...

Leander's eyes widened in shock. He quickly turned around and looked up at the sky!

After the staged 'kiss,' Katherine quickly pushed Alexander away.

She happily took the painting from Leander's hands and left. After a few steps, she turned around and winked, giving Alexander a thumbs-up. "Sir, thanks! You looked quite handsome today!"

Alexander's eyes darkened, and he pursed his thin lips.

"That little superficial girl thinks I'm handsome only after receiving a gift?"

Leander watched Katherine's cheerful steps as she entered the courtyard and couldn't help but smile. "Mr. Melville, Ms. Galatea is actually... quite lovely!"

Alexander gave Leander a cold glance. "Still looking?"

Leander quickly averted his gaze. "Ah, Mr. Melville, where will you go next?"

"To the company."

"Understood!"

The next day.

Katherine was having lunch, prepared by Alexander's mother, Kourtney Melville, when she received a call from Teresa.

"Katherine!"

Katherine didn't have Teresa's number, but she recognized her voice. She asked, "How did you get my number?"

"I asked Alexander for your contact information!"

Katherine was even more puzzled. "How did he have my number?"

"Katherine, he's your husband. Is it strange for him to have your number?"

"Well, I guess not."

"Katherine, what are you doing? Come out and have a drink with me!"

Katherine frowned. "Drinking in broad daylight? What's the occasion?"

Teresa's tone carried a hint of indulgent intoxication. "I'm a wounded woman now, and I need to vent! Katherine, come and find me. It's no fun being alone!"

As soon as she hung up, Katherine received a text message from Teresa with the address of the bar.

Sandra came out of the kitchen with a pot of soup. "Katherine, whose call was it? Another invitation to drink? You're trying to conceive now; you can't drink!"

Katherine obediently replied, "Don't worry, I won't drink. It's Teresa. She's feeling down and has been drinking outside. I'll go pick her up."

Sandra put down the soup and looked at her, somewhat shocked. "Teresa? Has Alex taken you to meet the people from the Harris family?"

Katherine nodded. "Yes, what's the matter?"

Sandra snapped out of it and smiled kindly. "Nothing, but it's not safe at a bar. I'll have the driver take you to pick up Teresa."

"Alright."

Katherine found it strange. "The Harris and Melville families are related by marriage, with Alexander in between, but it seems like there's no interaction."

"Teresa didn't invite anyone from the Melville family to her wedding yesterday, and it seems like no one from the Harris family attended her fake wedding with sir before..."

"Oh well, I won't think too much about it. After all, it has nothing to do with me."

Breaking Dawn Bar.

The bar was noisy, and Katherine spotted Teresa amidst the dazzling lights.

Overnight, Teresa dyed her hair a Barbie pink and danced wildly in the center of the dance floor. Is this the woman who was heartbroken?

"Katherine! You're here! Let's have fun together!" Teresa saw Katherine and ran over to hug her, then dragged her towards the dance floor.

Katherine wasn't in the mood to dance. "Let's go! I'll take you home!"

Teresa pouted. "I'm not going home. It's boring there!"

She refused to leave, and Katherine finally managed to pull her to a booth to rest for a while, ordering a glass of juice.

Teresa didn't touch the juice and instead downed a shot of liquor. "Katherine, let me tell you some great news. Hank's hands are crippled!"

Katherine raised an eyebrow. "What happened?"

Teresa smiled bitterly, her expression complex. "I heard that he was attacked on his way home last night, and both of his hands are now useless. Even if they heal, he won't be able to use them properly. A grown man, unable to shoulder or lift anything, his life is ruined!"

Katherine thought to herself, "Attacked on his way home?"

Suddenly, Teresa frowned and pointed upstairs, exclaiming, "Katherine, look! Isn't that Alexander? Why is he with another woman? Alright! I didn't expect him to have an affair, too! Men are all the same! Let's go up and catch them in the act!"
