Chapter 905 The Mitchell Family's Eldest Son

Claire really didn't want to answer any questions about that man. She had returned to this city, which she never wanted to set foot in again, because of her daughter, and it brought back many unwanted memories.

Linda brought over a glass of water, trying to divert Claire's attention. "Ms. Ayers, do you want some water?"

Claire shook her head. "I don't want any. Linda, I need a favor from you."

Linda put down the glass, her beautiful big eyes looking at her sincerely. "Go ahead, it's no trouble at all!"

Claire said, "Originally, I didn't want to bother your father because your parents were having issues, but now with this situation, I can't go find him myself. So, could you please ask your father to send someone to bring Joshua from the Galatea Villa to see me? I'd really appreciate it."

Linda nodded. "Sure! It's no trouble at all. Besides, I need to settle a score with that mother and daughter, so I'll have someone bring him over while I'm at it!"

Claire wanted to advise Linda not to seek revenge for her, but remembering how that mother and daughter had bullied Katherine, she thought they deserved some payback and said nothing.

Nora pulled Brent into the hospital stairwell before speaking, afraid of disturbing other patients.

"What were you doing just now? Why did you say those things in front of Claire? She's been alone for so many years; she's pitiful enough!"

Brent didn't listen at all. Once they were alone, he pulled Nora into his arms. "You scared me! Thank goodness you're not hurt!"

Nora was stunned, her anger dissipating instantly. "What are you doing? We're not young anymore; what's with the hugging and holding?"

Brent didn't care. "There's no one here! Nora, come back with me! I really don't feel safe with you and Linda living outside!"

Nora frowned, almost ready to compromise. "Let go of me first."

Brent finally released her. "Please, Nora, come back with me."

Nora felt conflicted. Looking at the man in front of her, she had to admit she couldn't bear to be apart from him.

Both she and Brent had been married before they met each other.

Brent had been set up on a blind date by his family when he was young. The marriage was loveless, but they had a daughter. Later, his wife passed away due to illness.

Her ex-husband was a good-for-nothing who pretended to be decent before marriage but showed his true colors afterward, with all sorts of bad habits.

Back then, she had to keep paying off her ex-husband's gambling debts. Every time he promised to change, but he never did. After two years of marriage, she was so disappointed that she filed for divorce, which took two years to finalize.

After the divorce, she met Brent, who pursued her for a long time.

Because Brent had a bad reputation, Claire was afraid she would make the same mistake again and always opposed their relationship, which made Brent resent Claire.

Perhaps she was indeed a bit lovestruck, thinking that if it didn't work out, she could just get divorced again. She accepted Brent's proposal, and many years had passed since.

Brent wasn't as terrible as the rumors said. In marriage, he was quite traditional and treated her well, just like before they got married. He didn't stop caring once he had her.

The only issue between them was Sophia.

"Let's not talk about this now. I need to stay at the hospital to accompany Claire."

Brent said, "Didn't the doctor say she's not in any life-threatening danger? I'll find a nurse for her; you don't need to stay here with her!"

Nora shook her head. "I don't feel comfortable leaving her with just a nurse. Claire is my best friend, like family. I can't leave her here alone."

Brent complained a bit, "All these years, you've treated Claire better than me! If it weren't for her, would you be in danger today?"

Nora frowned in displeasure. "There you go again! Linda and I weren't hurt, and besides, do you think Claire did it on purpose?"

"I don't care if she did it on purpose or not. I just don't feel safe with you being with her!"

"That's your problem. I'm not leaving until Claire is discharged!"

Seeing Nora's stubborn look, Brent, despite his dissatisfaction, could only sigh. "Fine, fine! You stay here with her. I'll have someone guard you, and I'll come over whenever I can to be with you. Is that okay?"

Brent's compromise softened Nora's heart. "You... you'd better not come! You always say things without considering Claire's feelings!"

Brent said, "I'll talk less. I won't say anything, okay?"

Nora said, "Really, there's no need! You go do your thing. Sophia needs you too."

Brent looked troubled. "Don't mention her! Sophia really doesn't listen. I told her to give up on Trevor, and she had a huge fight with me!"

Nora was stunned. "What? You... you really talked to her?"

Brent nodded. "Nora, I've thought seriously about what you said. All these years, I've been too indulgent with Sophia! I think Trevor's feelings for his true wife are like my feelings for you. No matter what, he can't develop feelings for another woman. Keeping him tied down is useless; Sophia will never get true love!"

Nora was touched that Brent finally understood. "It's good that you realize this. We can slowly persuade Sophia."

Hearing Nora's softer tone, Brent looked deeply at her. "Nora, I understand now. Can you forgive me and come back with me?"

Nora blushed. "Didn't I say I need to stay at the hospital to take care of Claire?"

Brent said, "I know! I mean, after she is discharged, will you come back with me?"

Nora was silent for a moment, then nodded.

With their conflict resolved, both Brent and Nora felt much better. They left the stairwell, ready to return to Claire's room.

As they passed the elevator, they saw Bernard waiting for it.

Brent's gaze suddenly turned sharp, staring at Bernard.

Perhaps sensing the hostile gaze, Bernard turned to look at him.

Their eyes met, and the atmosphere was tense.

Bernard had just visited his estranged father, Edwin, and was about to leave when he unexpectedly ran into Brent!

The elevator doors opened, and Bernard coldly looked away, stepping inside.

Nora noticed Brent's unusual expression and asked, "What's wrong? Who was that young man? Do you know him?"

Brent snapped out of it and, holding Nora's shoulder, explained, "That was the eldest son of the Mitchell family. For some reason, he's been opposing me in business for years."

'The eldest son of the Mitchell family? That means...'

Nora's pupils trembled. "Cole, find out why the eldest son of the Mitchell family is at the hospital!"
