Chapter 881 Selective Blindness
Katherine lifted her lips slightly, "Was it a fight or just one-sided bullying? Let's check the surveillance footage first. Ms. Thompson, where can we view the footage?"
Eris looked troubled, glancing at Katherine, then at Winford and Electra.
Winford snorted, "Fine, let's watch the footage! Her kid didn't even get a scratch, and you still have the nerve to claim it was a mutual fight between Elisha and Charles? I want to see what you have to say after watching the footage."
Seeing that both sets of parents agreed to check the footage, Eris led them to the surveillance room.
Elisha, who had been crying in Electra's arms, looked up timidly and tugged at Winford's coat when he heard they were going to watch the footage.
Winford thought Elisha was scared, so he patted his head to comfort him, "Elisha, don't be afraid! Today, I'll make sure that brat apologizes to you!"
With that, he picked up Elisha and followed Eris to the surveillance room, with his wife following behind.
In the surveillance room, there was only one security guard. Eris instructed the guard to pull up the footage from the time of the conflict between Elisha and Charles.
While the guard was retrieving the footage, Eris apologized profusely to Winford and Electra, fearing they would blame the kindergarten after seeing Elisha being hit.
Katherine observed all this with a hint of disdain in her eyes.
When she enrolled George, Edith, and Charles in this kindergarten, she didn't reveal her family's background, only mentioning they ran a small business.
It was clear that Eris thought Winford and Electra had higher social status and was trying to curry favor with them, afraid of offending them.
Elisha and Charles had a conflict, and Eris skipped the necessary step of checking the footage, directly assuming Charles was at fault.
"Ms. Thompson, the footage is ready!" the security guard reported.
Eris nodded and invited Winford and Electra to sit in front of the monitor, ignoring Katherine.
Then she pressed play, and the footage began.
In the video, a teacher was initially in the classroom. After hearing a noise outside, the teacher stepped out to check.
The teacher returned and called Charles to the front, asking him to sit on a small chair facing the class and read a storybook to the other kids.
The teacher said she had to step out for a moment and asked Charles, the class helper, to read a storybook to everyone.
The class obediently agreed, and the teacher left the room, closing the door behind her.
Charles opened the storybook and began reading to the class.
After reading a short passage, Elisha, who was sitting in the back row, got up and snatched a butterfly hairpin from a little girl in the front row.
The girl's hair was messed up, and she started crying, asking Elisha to return the hairpin.
Elisha not only ignored the crying girl but also threw the hairpin on the ground and laughed.
The girl cried even louder, and Charles, who was reading the story, couldn't stand it. He walked over and scolded Elisha, telling him to pick up the hairpin and return it.
Elisha ignored Charles and made a mocking face at him.
Charles, visibly angry, warned him that if he didn't pick up the hairpin, he would call the teacher.
Elisha said, "If you tell the teacher, I'll hit you!"
Then he grabbed Charles by the collar and shook his fist threateningly.
Charles, trying to keep his composure, took a deep breath and called out for the teacher.
To stop him, Elisha swung a punch at Charles's face, but Charles dodged and pushed him away.
Elisha, being clumsy, lost his balance and fell, hitting his head on a table leg. He got up, furious, and tried to punch Charles again.
Charles kept dodging without hitting back.
After several failed attempts, Elisha fell again and hit his head, causing it to bleed.
Elisha's comical rage made the whole class laugh, which embarrassed him even more. Enraged, he turned his anger on the little girl whose hairpin he had taken, pulling her pigtails hard, making her scream.
At this point, Charles couldn't stand it anymore and rushed to help the girl, trying to pull Elisha away. Elisha took the opportunity to swing at Charles again but missed, shouting, "You're a kid whose mom didn't want him! Everyone in the kindergarten knows you're adopted!"
Charles froze for a moment, then lost control and started punching Elisha. The teacher, hearing the commotion, returned to find Charles on top of Elisha, hitting him.
The teacher quickly separated them, and the video ended.
During the video, Winford and Electra's expressions changed from aggressive to complex and embarrassed.
Elisha, in Winford's arms, looked guilty and avoided watching the video.
Katherine's expression was also complex because of what Elisha had said to Charles.
She turned to Eris and said, "Ms. Thompson, do you see the truth now? Charles didn't hit without reason, and he wasn't the one who started it. Do you still think Charles needs to apologize to Elisha? Before I came, you should have checked the footage first to understand the situation, shouldn't you?"
Eris looked ashamed, "Ms. Galatea, I'm really sorry. It was my oversight. I was just too worried when I saw Elisha was hurt."
Katherine was about to say something when Winford interrupted, "The video clearly shows Charles's fist hitting Elisha's face first! How is that not Charles starting the fight?"
Electra, though less confident than before, echoed Winford, "Yes, Charles hit Elisha first!"
Katherine laughed, "Did you conveniently not see when Elisha was bullying the girl?"
