Chapter 616 His Sarcasm
Katherine gave a lazy nod.
Teresa elbowed Alex. "Hey, Alex, Katherine's just out here chillin' by herself! She's solo!"
She was trying to make sure Alex didn't get the wrong idea about Katherine, so they could catch up without any drama.
Alex just chuckled. "Didn't she tell you to call her more formally? Why you still calling her Katherine?"
Teresa had totally spaced and thought, 'I'm so used to calling her Katherine, it's hard to switch it up. And honestly, I ain't planning on changing it for good. What's Alex getting at? Is he really thinking about dumping Katherine?'
Alex's words hit Katherine with a bit of irony, like he was saying she was just putting on airs. She was used to Teresa calling her that, so she didn't react right away.
Teresa wanted to lighten the mood, but it just got more awkward, so she decided to zip it.
In Ambrosia's office, she had just asked someone to grab some snacks for Sunny, letting him chill while she handled some work.
The secretary came back saying Katherine had hopped into Alex's car downstairs, and Ambrosia couldn't keep her cool, anxiously asking, "Where's Alex taking her?"
The secretary shrugged. "He said he wanted to sort things out with Ms. Galate, and Ms. Galatea doesn't seem to know where they're headed either."
Ambrosia was ticked. "You let her get in the car without knowing where they were going? Why didn't you follow them?"
The secretary looked down. "Ms. Harris and Mr. Gray were also in the car, so there was no room. Plus, Ms. Galatea didn't let me follow."
Ambrosia, frustrated, grabbed her phone to call Katherine.
Sunny, lounging on the sofa and sipping a Coke, saw her freaking out and casually walked over, "Ambrosia, why you stressing? Katherine got into Alex's car, not some rando's."
Ambrosia shot him a glare. "Alex ain't much better than a stranger."
Sunny shook his head. "I can't speak for how Alex treats others, but he's definitely good to Katherine. Chill, he won't hurt her."
Ambrosia sneered, "You think he hasn't hurt her enough?"
Sunny looked confused. "How's Alex hurt Katherine? From what I see, it's always been Katherine hurting Alex. She ghosted him twice!"
Ambrosia was annoyed. "If you got nothing else, go back to school and hit the books. Stop hanging around here."
Hearing Ambrosia's order to scram, Sunny said softly, "Ambrosia, don't be mad at me. It's not my fault."
Ambrosia said, "Then stay here quietly and don't cause trouble."
With that, Ambrosia grabbed her phone and quickly walked out. She called Katherine, but no one picked up. Worried, she went to talk strategy with Frank.
As soon as she pushed open the door to Frank's office, she saw him slumped over his desk, looking like he'd been hitting the bottle hard in the middle of the day.
Ambrosia walked up and knocked on the desk. "Yo, wake up! We got a situation!"
Frank sat up, groggy. "Huh? What's going on?"
Ambrosia was about to spill the beans about Katherine getting into Alex's car but got sidetracked by Frank's swollen, red face. "Dude, what happened to your face?"
Frank touched his sore mug and laughed at himself. "Just got slapped by a chick."
Ambrosia gave him a look of disdain. "Serves you right."
Frank shrugged. "So, what's the deal?"
Ambrosia snapped back to the issue. "Katherine ran into Alex downstairs. He asked her to hop in his car, and now we have no clue where they went. Her phone's dead."
Frank looked confused. "Why was Alex even here?"
Ambrosia said, "Probably to pick up Teresa. He bumped into Katherine and asked her to get in the car, saying he wanted to sort things out."
Hearing Teresa's name made Frank's face throb even more. She had slapped him so hard she busted his lip. He thought he hadn't done much, just asked if she wanted to date him again, and got a hard slap for it. It hurt like hell.
"Don't sweat it, Teresa's in the car too, right? Alex won't do anything to Katherine. Plus, she's pregnant with his kid," Frank said.
Ambrosia glared at him. "I know Alex won't hurt her right now, but do you think he'll be nice? Can Katherine handle the stress in her condition? Get moving, contact Teresa, and find Katherine."
Frank was a bit troubled. "Why me? I just got slapped by her. You think she'll talk to me? Ambrosia, you should call her yourself."
Ambrosia said, "I barely know her. If I call, she won't tell me squat. Where's your charm with women? When it counts, you're useless."
Frank sighed. "Alright, I'll call! You go out, and I'll let you know what happens."
"Hurry up," Ambrosia urged him and then turned to leave.
Frank picked up his phone, looking troubled. It wasn't that he couldn't bring himself to call Teresa, but that Teresa had blocked all his contact info. Even if he wanted to contact her, he couldn't. Frank, who had flirted with countless women, had never been so thoroughly ghosted.
After getting slapped, Frank had decided not to bother Teresa anymore, but now, for Katherine's sake, he had to disturb her once more.
After thinking for a while, Frank picked up the office phone and asked a subordinate manager for Anthony's contact info. Since he couldn't call Teresa, he had to contact her boyfriend.
Frank called Anthony on his cell.
The phone rang for a bit before being answered, and Anthony politely asked, "Hello, who is this?"
Frank said, "Anthony, it's me."
As a low-level employee, Anthony couldn't possibly have the CEO's private number, but he quickly recognized the voice and got a bit uneasy. "Mr. Perez, why are you calling me? Is there something you need me to do?"
