Chapter 869 Irresistible to the Opposite Sex
Fiona loved sweets, so Nathan always took her to dessert shops for their dates.
As she ate her dessert, Fiona sighed wistfully, looking troubled.
Seeing her like this, Nathan asked with concern, "Why the sigh? Is something on your mind?"
Fiona, barely touching her food, replied, "It's about Katherine and Alex! I'm really worried."
Nathan, knowing how much this mattered to Fiona, reassured her, "I think you should trust that Katherine can handle it, and Alex will come home safely. He's been missing for so many years, and the fact that he's still alive means he's not in immediate danger. Try not to worry too much."
Fiona shook her head and pouted seriously, "I'm not worried about that anymore. I'm more worried that Katherine might fall for someone else!"
Fall for someone else? Nathan was taken aback and then burst out laughing, "That's something you definitely don't need to worry about. It won't happen."
Fiona frowned, "Why? How can you be so sure?"
Nathan said, "I've known Katherine for so many years and understand her character. She's not the type to easily fall for someone. Back in school, plenty of great and handsome guys pursued her, but Katherine was always indifferent. Someone who is not easily moved won't easily fall for someone else. It's impossible!"
Fiona bit her spoon, feeling a bit uneasy, "You were one of Katherine's many suitors too, weren't you?"
Nathan looked at her with a nonchalant attitude about the past, "Here you go again! Didn't I explain this before? I did like Katherine once, but I never acted on it. Before I could express my feelings, Alex had already won her over! And now, the person I like is you!"
Fiona's heart warmed, finally feeling comforted.
Girls in love often felt insecure and needed constant reassurance from their partners.
Nathan patiently said, "Hurry up and eat, the movie is about to start!"
"Okay!" Fiona blushed and stuffed a big piece of cake into her mouth.
Seeing this, Nathan chuckled, "You don't have to eat so fast, be careful not to choke!"
When Nathan teased her, Fiona felt too embarrassed to eat. She blushed and turned her head away, trying to ease the awkwardness by looking elsewhere.
However, as she turned her head, she saw a familiar figure passing by outside, and her eyes widened!
Fiona's attention was completely drawn to the familiar figure, and she stood up, craning her neck to look outside.
Nathan found it very strange and waved his hand in front of her, "What's wrong? What did you see?"
Fiona snapped back to reality, furrowing her brow, "I saw someone who shouldn't be out here! Nathan, I might not be able to go to the movie with you. I need to check if I saw it right! Sorry, I have to go!"
With that, Fiona got up and hurried out.
Nathan looked surprised, glanced at the bag she had forgotten in her haste, and got up to chase after her with the bag.
Fiona chased in the direction the familiar figure had gone, looking around as she ran.
But she didn't see the person again!
She stopped to catch her breath, and Nathan caught up. "Who did you see? Why are you in such a rush? You even forgot your bag!"
Fiona steadied her breath. "It was a woman who used to cause trouble between Alex and Katherine! She should be in prison now. How could I see her outside?"
Nathan didn't know the details but still tried to comfort her, "Could you have mistaken someone else for her?"
Fiona was now also doubting herself, thinking she might have been mistaken.
Logically, that woman shouldn't be out early!
It better not be her. Katherine and Alex already have enough trouble with Sophia; if they had to deal with one more problem, when would it ever end?
As she was silently worrying and preparing to go to the movie with Nathan, Fiona suddenly saw Scarlett sitting in a café with a man!
She widened her eyes to make sure she wasn't mistaken—it was Scarlett!
When did Scarlett get out of prison after doing so many bad things?
Nathan saw Fiona frozen again and followed her gaze, also seeing Scarlett, though he didn't recognize her.
Perhaps sensing the gaze from outside the window, Scarlett turned her head to look outside.
To avoid being recognized, Fiona buried her face in Nathan's chest, hiding her face so Scarlett couldn't recognize her.
Seeing a couple hugging outside, Scarlett didn't suspect anything and continued chatting with the man opposite her.
Fiona quickly pulled Nathan to a corner where they wouldn't be easily seen, quietly observing Scarlett.
Scarlett had short hair with no style, looking like she had just been released from prison, lacking her former radiance.
The man sitting opposite her also looked familiar to Fiona, but she couldn't remember where she had seen him before.
"Fiona, what are you looking at?" Nathan asked, a bit exasperated.
Fiona shushed him, "Nathan, don't get noticed! Let me tell you, that woman inside used to pester Alex and used me to stir up trouble between Katherine and Alex. I hate her so much!"
Nathan looked at Scarlett inside, finding her unkind-looking, and joined Fiona in disliking her.
Fiona continued, "She tried to kill Katherine before, but after Katherine exposed her plot, Alex sent her to prison to face her punishment! I didn't expect her to be released so soon. I wonder if she'll come to trouble us again!"
Nathan understood why Fiona was so shocked and nodded, "I see."
Fiona kept a close watch, trying hard to recall who the man sitting opposite Scarlett was.
Nathan, rubbing his temples, said, "Alex sure has a way with women. No wonder Katherine's been struggling."
Fiona glanced at Nathan and replied, "Honestly, Alex doesn't try to attract women. He's just so impressive that they can't help but be drawn to him!"
Nathan sighed. "I hope you don't attract as much attention as Alex, or I'll be jealous."
Fiona was taken aback and then blushed. "Nathan, this is not the time for jokes!"
Nathan responded, "I'm not joking. I really would be jealous."
Fiona smiled."Don't worry, I'm not as impressive as Alex. No one's ever been interested in me like that!"
