Chapter 842 Katherine, I'm Begging You
Bernard warned in a deep voice, "She already has a lot on her plate, and Alex's issues are troubling her too. Don't bother her anymore."
Sunny naturally felt for Katherine, but also for the ailing Edwin. "But..."
Bernard warned again, "No calling her!"
Sunny had no choice but to agree and kept quiet. However, after looking at Edwin on the hospital bed, he decided to ask Katherine for help anyway.
Bernard said not to call Katherine, so he would go directly to the Melville Mansion and bring Katherine over!
That wouldn't count as disobeying Bernard!
The next day.
Edwin woke up and refused to eat anything. With lifeless eyes, he looked at Sunny and asked, "Where's Laura? When is she coming to see me?"
Sunny coaxed helplessly, "Dad, please eat something first! I haven't called her yet. It's so early; she might still be sleeping!"
Hearing this, Edwin felt Sunny might be fooling him, and the light in his eyes dimmed again.
He refused to eat, take medicine, or speak.
Seeing Edwin like this, Sunny had no choice but to ask someone to stay by Edwin's side and take good care of him. He then left the hospital while Bernard was home comforting Hellen and Vincent and headed to the Melville Manor.
When Sunny arrived at the Melville Manor, the Melville family was having breakfast together.
The Melville family and the Mitchell family were not on good terms, so when they saw Sunny, Jackie and Sandra were not very welcoming.
Katherine noticed Sunny had something to say. She asked Fiona to watch over George, Edith, and Charles, then took a sip of milk, grabbed a sandwich, and led Sunny to the yard to talk.
"What's the matter, coming to see me so early?" Katherine asked.
Sunny hesitated, "Katherine, I need your help with something."
Katherine took a bite of her sandwich, "Go ahead, what is it?"
Sunny cautiously said, "Can you promise me first before I tell you?"
Katherine squinted, "It doesn't sound like a good thing! If you don't tell me, I'm going back to finish my breakfast!"
With that, Katherine pretended to turn around...
Sunny quickly grabbed her, "No, Katherine, don't go! I'll tell you."
Katherine stopped and turned back, "Then hurry up!"
Sunny sighed, "My dad tried to commit suicide by slitting his wrists last night. He's in bad shape. Can you come to the hospital to see him and encourage him a bit? Give him some hope to live?"
Hearing about Edwin's suicide, Katherine's pupils trembled slightly, and her brows furrowed deeply. After a long shock, she said, "What does your father's suicide have to do with me? What good would it do for me to see him and encourage him?"
Sunny said, "It would help! Of course, it would! Katherine, you're also my dad's daughter. He would definitely find hope in life from your encouragement!"
Hearing this, Katherine's brows furrowed deeply, "Who told him I was his daughter?"
Sunny saw Katherine was getting angry and quickly shook his head, "No one! I haven't told my dad who you are. To calm him down, I only said I would bring his long-lost daughter to see him. I didn't say anything else."
Katherine's face was cold, "In that case, you can find any girl to comfort him. You don't need me. I have no relationship with him anymore, and his life or death has nothing to do with me."
Sunny, almost begging, grabbed Katherine's clothes, "Katherine, my dad isn't stupid! If I bring someone who doesn't look like him, he'll know! Katherine, I'm begging you. My dad really doesn't want to live anymore. I'm afraid he'll do something foolish again. Please, I'm begging you."
Katherine remained expressionless, "I'm sorry, I can't help with this."
She had no feelings or memories for Edwin, that so-called father. She didn't care about him at all.
Moreover, Edwin was the reason her mother was still missing. If she went to see him, wouldn't that be betraying her mother?
After speaking with Sunny, she turned to go back inside.
Someone blocked her way and knelt in front of her!
It was Sunny again!
Katherine was stunned and frowned, "What are you doing?"
Sunny, with red eyes, said, "Katherine, I'm begging you, please help me persuade my dad. He won't take his medicine or eat. I'm really worried! If there were another way, I wouldn't come to you. Bernard also told me not to come to you."
Seeing Sunny like this, Katherine was silent, not knowing what to say.
Sunny pitifully tugged at Katherine's sleeve, "Katherine, please. I'll repay you in the future. I'll do anything you ask!"
Katherine was very annoyed. She told him to stand up, but he wouldn't. He said if she didn't agree, he would kneel there all day!
This was pure guilt-tripping! She absolutely hated being guilt-tripped! Sunny was actually very simple-minded. Doing this now showed he was really desperate!
After a long hesitation, Katherine took a deep breath, "Get up! I'll go inside and change, then I'll go with you!"
Hearing this, Sunny stood up quickly and gave Katherine a big hug, "Thank you, Katherine! I knew you were the best!"
Katherine signed.
The Mitchell family should thank Sunny. In such a complicated family, having someone as simple-minded as him was rare.
Katherine agreed to help Sunny not to fool him but simply because she didn't want to see him kneeling at the Melville Manor!
She went upstairs to change, instructed George, Edith, and Charles to listen to Fiona, and then told Jackie and Sandra before leaving with Sunny.
In the car, Katherine's face remained stern. Sunny glanced at her, "Katherine, I know you don't want to go, but when you see my dad, could you smile a little?"
Katherine gave him a disdainful look, "You're asking too much!"
Sunny felt awkward, "Katherine, I'm sorry. I might be overstepping. But please, for my dad's sake, who almost died, be a little nicer to him!"
Katherine, annoyed, said, "Shut up! Drive properly! If you keep talking, I won't go!"
Sunny quickly promised, "Okay! I'll shut up! Katherine, relax!"
Katherine turned to look out the window, lost in thought.
Soon, they arrived at the hospital.
Sunny had called the servant watching over Edwin in advance to make sure Bernard wasn't there before taking Katherine upstairs.
