Chapter 67 Wish I Knew It Was You, I Wouldn't Care
A few wealthy girls were stunned and turned to look. They instantly restrained themselves.
"It's Mr. Mitchell!"
"Mr. Mitchell is here!"
"Mr. Mitchell!"
Katherine followed the girls' gaze. They mentioned Mr. Mitchell as Sunny Mitchell, who had previously gone to the gallery with Fiona to catch a home wrecker.
Sunny, who was dressed in a white tailcoat, was tall and slim, handsome and elegant, and noble and luxurious.
Sunny walked over, furrowing his brow in annoyance, "What are you all causing a ruckus here for? So noisy!"
One of the girls stepped forward, pointing at Katherine, "Mr. Mitchell, we didn't mean to do it! There's someone here dressed terribly who sneaked in to freeload, and we were about to kick her out!"
"Yes, this is the Mitchell family's Moonlight Manor. How can we allow such a person in to lower the standards?"
"Mr. Mitchell, you've arrived just in time. Please have the security personnel escort this person out!"
Sunny raised his chin slightly, looking at them disdainfully, "Who told you that someone dressed ugly can't enter Moonlight Manor? Everyone has the freedom to dress as they please. Why do you care so much about others?"
The wealthy girls were all taken aback. They thought they were being particularly reasonable for the sake of Moonlight Manor and expected praise from Mr. Mitchell. Instead, they were met with Sunny's disdain.
"But... she really sneaked in..."
"Yes! She doesn't have an invitation!"
Sunny shrugged, "If she could get in, it means she's qualified to be here! Are you saying the security at Moonlight Manor, who are paid salaries to do nothing, would just let anyone in?"
"Sorry, we misunderstood."
"Yes, we have no right to interfere with Moonlight Manor's affairs..."
"Mr. Mitchell, sorry for the disturbance."
Left speechless by Sunny's retort, the wealthy girls walked away with dejected expressions.
Sunny snorted, then turned to the girl who had just been bullied, "Alright, it's over! You don't have to mind those people, and they're just a bunch of fools!"
Katherine nodded, "Thank you."
"No problem," Sunny replied absentmindedly, then turned and left.
Suddenly, he felt something was amiss. Why did the girl's voice sound familiar?
He stopped in his tracks, turned back, and recognized her, "Katherine? It's you!"
Katherine smiled and greeted him.
Sunny immediately furrowed his brow in disgust, "Why are you dressed like this?"
Katherine replied, "I dress as I please, as you said, freedom of dress."
Annoyed, Sunny sneered, "If I had known it was you, I would have let them kick you out!"
Katherine chuckled, finding Sunny quite amusing. Just now, Sunny had intervened for a stranger, not for flirting or to show off his status, but purely to help.
Once he realized it was her, his attitude changed! The reason Sunny was so against her was simply because of the love story between Alexander and Scarlett. Sunny saw her as Scarlett's rival and wanted to eliminate the competition for Scarlett.
Sunny wasn't a bad person.
Sunny asked, not very kindly, "Did you come with Alexander?"
At the mention of Alexander, Katherine felt a bit annoyed and furrowed her brow, "Is he here too?"
Perplexed, Sunny asked, "If Alexander didn't bring you, how did you get in?"
With a touch of arrogance, Katherine replied, "I would not tell you!"
Annoyed, Sunny glared at her, "I don't have time for you now! I'll teach you a lesson when I have the time!"
With that, Sunny hurried off as if he had urgent matters to attend to.
Katherine turned to look for Sherry, but she was nowhere to be found. Sherry and the middle-aged man had disappeared. She scanned the surroundings, but she didn't see Sherry. Rather, she noticed several boys around Sunny's age aggressively chasing after him.
"I saw Sunny! He ran that way!"
"Chase him!"
"Sunny, don't hide!"
Sunny quickened his pace out of the banquet hall, but the group caught up to him, blocking him in the corridor.
"Sunny, are you still a man? Can't admit defeat?"
Cornered, Sunny glared at them angrily, "I never said I wouldn't admit defeat!"
"Then let's settle this! You lost to us in the game. Now fulfill the bet!"
Defiantly, Sunny retorted, "I didn't lose! You cheated by using hacks when we played!"
The ringleader smirked, "When we started the game, you never said we couldn't use hacks!"
He then waved a signed bet contract in front of Sunny, "It's all written here. You signed it, too! We agreed to play a game, and if you lost, you'd transfer ownership of Moonlight Manor to us, the Veldimore family!"
Sunny couldn't hide his frustration. "While Moonlight Manor belongs to our family, I don't have the authority to make that decision..."
Theodore Veldimore of the Veldimore family sneered at Sunny, "If you can't make decisions, why did you use it as a bet? You always claimed that anything from the Mitchell family could be counted on. Turns out it was all just boasting in front of us!"
Sunny flushed with embarrassment, "You set me up with a trap. Otherwise, I wouldn't have lost!"
"Loss is loss! Stop making excuses!" Theodore chuckled, "You can't make decisions, right? Fine! Considering our families have known each other for years, I won't force you! Kneel here in front of us, and I'll tear up this bet contract in front of you. We'll call it even!"
"You..." Sunny's eyes blazed.
"Will you kneel or not? If you don't, I'll take this bet contract to your family! I want to see if the men of the Mitchell family are as lacking in integrity as you!"
"Don't! Please..."
Panicked, Sunny didn't want his family to be threatened by these jerks because of his mess.
"Kneel! I'll..." he took a deep breath, preparing to comply...
Suddenly, a surge of anger overcame Sunny, "Get the hell out of here!"
As he cursed, he swung his fist at Theodore in the middle. Theodore took the hit and pushed Sunny back against the wall, "Damn it, you dare hit me! Get him! Keep hitting until he surrenders!"
Sunny fell to the ground, clutching his stomach where Theodore had punched him, sweating from the pain.
Theodore smirked arrogantly, "Do you surrender? If you do, I'll let you go!"
Sunny, lying on the ground, gritted his teeth stubbornly, "No way!"
"You won't surrender? Then keep on hitting! Hit him hard!"
"Let him go," Katherine's calm and icy voice rang out.
Theodore and his cronies led by Theodore, paused their actions of violence, and turned to see.
A well-dressed girl.
