Chapter 1019 He Did It for Her

Virginia's eyes sparkled as she walked over to the chair opposite Curtis and sat down, tentatively asking, "Mr. Caldwell, I heard that you spent several years on the film 'Valeria Song.' There haven't been any new works from you in recent years, so it seems you have been planning 'Valeria Song' all this time."

"Yes, I really like the story of 'Valeria Song,' and I personally oversaw the script revisions. I believe this film will be a big hit."

Mentioning 'Valeria Song' made Curtis very talkative.

After completing his previous film, he hit a creative block and struggled to decide on his next project.

Eventually, he discovered the story of 'Valeria Song,' a narrative about a female entrepreneur, and spent years developing the script.

"But isn't it a bit risky to use a newcomer for such an important film?"

As soon as Virginia asked this, she received a deep gaze from Curtis.

Receiving his gaze, Virginia quickly put on an innocent look and waved her hand, "Mr. Caldwell, don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying anything bad about Ms. Russell. I just don't quite understand your choice, so I wanted to know more."

Curtis recalled seeing Christina in that commercial and couldn't help but smile with satisfaction, "Although Christina has never acted before, when I saw her, I felt that this role should be hers. She has the spirit I want in the female lead!"

"Oh? Is she really that suitable for the role?" Virginia's jealousy was hard to suppress.

Curtis nodded affirmatively without hesitation, "She is the most suitable candidate in my mind. And I am confident she will do well in this role."

"Well, I believe in your ability to teach any actor."

Suppressing her jealousy and anger, Virginia said something she didn't mean.

She couldn't believe that Christina, who had never acted before, could perform better than her in her first film.

She wanted to see how well Christina could act and waited to see Curtis regret not choosing her for the lead role in 'Valeria Song.'

"Mr. Caldwell, I have another appointment, so I'll be leaving now." Virginia stood up with a smile, "I originally wanted to catch up with you, but my schedule is too full. Next time, when you start a new film, please think of me."

Curtis was relieved to hear she was leaving, "Of course, it would be my pleasure to work with you!"

"Mr. Caldwell, you flatter me! See you next time." Virginia turned and left with a smile, but her smile disappeared the moment she turned around.

This time, she truly realized Christina's prowess. She could win Curtis's favor and secure Bernard's support. She knew she couldn't take Christina lightly in the future.

Christina left the company in a carefree manner, and the car arranged by the Mitchell family was still at the door. She opened the car door and got in.

After settling in, Christina noticed the driver hadn't started the car and asked in confusion, "Why aren't we moving?"

The driver seemed not to hear her and remained quietly in the driver's seat.

Christina waited a while longer, and when he still didn't start the car, she was about to get out and find her own way home. Just then, the back door opened, and Bernard got in.

"Drive," he commanded.

With just that one word, the driver immediately started the car, not giving her a chance to get out.

It turned out the driver hadn't started the car because Bernard had instructed him to wait for his arrival.

"Why did you leave in such a hurry just now? You didn't wait for me," Bernard asked in a deep voice.

Hearing Bernard's words, Christina turned her head to look out the window, pretending not to hear anything.

"Christina, I'm talking to you," Bernard suppressed his displeasure and patiently asked again.

Christina, who had been looking out the window, turned her head slightly but quickly turned back, ignoring him!

Clearly, he was entangled with Virginia, accompanying her to see Curtis. She hadn't even questioned him, yet he had the nerve to speak to her so self-righteously.

It was as if she was the one who had done something wrong!

Bernard had spoken twice without getting any response from Christina. For a man like him, his patience was running out.

"Stop the car."

With that command, the driver immediately pulled over at the nearest possible spot and then turned around, "Mr. Mitchell, do you need me to get out?"

"Yes."

The driver left the keys in the car and quickly got out.

With just the two of them left in the car, Bernard reached out and forced Christina to turn and face him, "Christina, I'm talking to you. Didn't you hear me?"

Christina was forced to look at him and sighed helplessly, "I heard you."

"If you heard me, why didn't you respond?" Bernard frowned at her sulky expression.

He had personally come to see Curtis to ensure Christina would have an easier time in the entertainment industry.

But Christina hadn't said a single good word and had ignored him the whole time. What an ungrateful woman!

Christina turned to look at him, her eyes full of grievance, "Weren't you there with Virginia? Why are you here to see me? Why don't you stay with her?"

"I was there with Virginia?" Bernard frowned, "Who told you that?"

Christina pouted, and Bernard still wanted to argue, "No one needed to tell me. I saw it myself! If you weren't there with her, why would you come to see Mr. Caldwell so early in the morning?"

"So, you think I went to see Curtis for Virginia?"

Realizing this, Bernard's mood suddenly improved, and he couldn't help but smile.

So, Christina was jealous.

Bernard's anger dissipated, and he released her shoulders, "I didn't know she would be there. I went to see Curtis for you."

"For me?" Christina was surprised and a bit skeptical.

She was just his contracted fake wife. Why would he go to see Curtis for a fake wife?

Seeing that she didn't believe him, Bernard sighed helplessly, "I know Curtis, so I came by to make sure no one gives you a hard time."

Christina was even more shocked. Really? Bernard was afraid she would be bullied, so he went to see Curtis? Why would he do that?

"Did you really go to see Mr. Caldwell for me?"

Facing Christina's repeated questioning, Bernard patiently explained again, "Yes, I went to see Curtis for you. I've said it so many times. Do you believe me now?"

Initially, Christina didn't believe it or didn't dare to believe it.
