Chapter 552 Who Is She?

Jonathan's good-looking mug got all up in her space. "I've got enough cash to tie the knot, just missing a bride. No clue where to find one. Katherine, can you help a guy out?"

Katherine sneered, ready to tell him to buzz off when the driver's side door swung open. Leander hopped in, looking all serious, and cleared his throat. "Ahem!"

Jonathan didn't even flinch, just leaned back all chill.

Leander, with a bit of edge, asked, "Mr. Mostow, where to?"

Jonathan was blunt, "Wherever Katherine's crashing. Better if we're close; we can watch each other's backs."

Leander clearly wasn't thrilled. "Sorry, Mr. Mostow, Mrs. Melville's at the Mitchell family's Summer Villa. Not exactly convenient for you."

Jonathan raised an eyebrow. "The Mitchell family's Summer Villa? Perfect. I'll just ring up Bernard."

He whipped out his phone, ready to dial.

Katherine, fed up, snatched his phone and hung up before it connected. She snapped, "Mr. Mostow, what do you really want?"

Jonathan spread his hands, all innocent. "Katherine, we're buds, right? It's cool to see a familiar face in a strange place. I just wanna stick close. Not too much to ask. Honestly, I'm kinda freaked out being alone."

Katherine wasn't buying it and sneered, "You're scared, yet you came solo? What if you hadn't bumped into me? Still gonna be alone, right?"

Jonathan tilted his head, frustrated. "Exactly! Who could say otherwise! Didn't think it through before coming! If you hadn't mentioned it, I'd have forgotten about the Summer Villa. Might as well call Bernard; he might even join me for a vacay!"

She couldn't let Jonathan call Bernard because if he knew she was here, he'd definitely show up.

And she didn't want Bernard to come. His foot injury from saving her last time hadn't healed yet; no need for him to trek up the mountain!

Katherine thought for a sec, then tossed the phone back to Jonathan. "Don't call Bernard. He's hurt and can't babysit you!"

She turned to Leander and said, "Fine, take him to the Summer Villa."

Leander frowned but agreed, "Yes, Mrs. Melville."

Jonathan grinned. "Haven't been to the Summer Villa in ages. Last time was back in school."

Katherine cut him off, "Mr. Mostow, zip it. No one cares about your childhood tales!"

Jonathan shrugged, more amused than mad, and shut his mouth.

Half an hour later, Leander pulled up at the Summer Villa.

The staff at the Mitchell family's Summer Villa recognized Jonathan, knowing he was Bernard's buddy. After Jonathan explained why he was there, the butler politely set up a guest room for him.

Katherine didn't give a damn about how Jonathan got settled and headed straight to her room.

Leander trailed behind her, keeping it respectful, and only spoke up when they were alone. "Mrs. Melville, you should probably keep your distance from Mr. Mostow."

Katherine wasn't planning on hanging out with Jonathan anyway, but she was curious since Alex had mentioned the same thing before.

She'd had a few private chats with Hilton and Issac, but Alex never seemed this bothered. "Why? Isn't Mr. Mostow an old buddy of Mr. Melville?"

Leander's face got all serious. "Mr. Mostow is an old acquaintance, sure, but they're not exactly tight. Mr. Mostow's more chummy with Mr. Mitchell. Hilton and Isaac are Mr. Melville's real pals—they'd never mess with you, Mrs. Melville. But Mr. Mostow? He's a business rival and has his own plans for you."

Katherine laughed. "Got it. Even guys' friendships have levels and schemes! But don't sweat it, Leander. I'm not into Mr. Mostow. Even if he tries something, he won't get far."

Leander felt a bit better hearing that and added, "Good to hear. Mrs. Melville, Mr. Melville also asked you to give him a call."

Katherine's eyes flickered. "Alright, I'll call him later. You should get some rest. I'll lock the door myself; no need to stand guard."

"Yes, ma'am!" Leander nodded. He was beat and couldn't stay up forever. If Katherine needed him, he had to be sharp, not a liability.

With Katherine full and not touching the Mitchell family's food, and Alice not daring to openly mess with her, things were safe for now.

Leander went to crash, and Jonathan didn't bug Katherine again, heading to his room to rest.

Katherine took a shower, dried her hair, and lazily sprawled on the big bed. She hesitated a bit before dialing Alex's number.

"Hello?" The phone rang for a bit before Alex picked up. His voice was deep and magnetic, with a hint of tiredness, like he just woke up.

There was a time difference, so it made sense he was sleeping.

Katherine said coolly, "Leander said I should call you."

Alex's voice had a touch of annoyance. "You only call 'cause he told you to? Can't you call me on your own?"

She wanted to snap back. Why hadn't he called her all these days? Hmph! "Is there something you need?"

Ignoring Alex's comment, Katherine asked indifferently.

Alex was quiet for a few seconds before saying, "Darling—"

He got cut off by a woman's voice in the background: "Alex, what are you doing? Hurry up! We're about to leave!"
