Chapter 1013 Run a Company
Bernard's eyes gleamed in the darkness, and Christina couldn't find the words to refuse him.
Otherwise, she would feel like she had made a huge mistake, shattering his expectations.
"How about this? I'll make it up to you tomorrow with a gift, okay?"
Bernard slightly lowered his head, staring at her. "No, it won't be my birthday tomorrow. Since you didn't prepare anything, how about we improvise?"
"Improvise?" Christina blinked, not understanding his words, "How? We're in a movie theater, and the..."
Before Christina could finish her sentence, Bernard suddenly reached out and pressed the back of her head, lowering his head to plant a kiss on her lips.
The warm sensation on her lips made Christina's eyes widen, and her whole body stiffened.
She didn't know why Bernard suddenly kissed her, but what surprised her even more was that she didn't feel repulsed when Bernard's kiss landed.
Bernard didn't deepen the kiss, just lightly letting their lips touch.
This light touch made her heart race even more.
"Hurry, hurry, it's starting."
Latecomers urged each other as they ran in, and Bernard immediately let go of Christina when he heard the commotion. They both sat upright in their seats as if nothing had happened.
Throughout the movie, Christina didn't watch a single scene. Her mind kept replaying the moment Bernard kissed her, making her feel hot all over.
Sitting next to her, Bernard also couldn't focus on the movie. He irritably loosened his tie, feeling unusually warm.
He couldn't even explain why he suddenly kissed Christina.
He had indeed had a bit of alcohol at the club, but he knew his own tolerance well enough to know that he wouldn't get drunk from that amount.
But when he saw Christina's eyes earlier, it was as if he were drunk, losing his rationality in an instant, and before he knew it, he had lowered his head and kissed her.
By the time he realized it, their lips were already intimately touching.
What did this kiss mean?
With no interest in the movie and unable to talk to the person next to her, Christina felt a bit bored and awkward.
Christina glanced at the popcorn beside her, reaching out to grab a piece to ease the awkwardness.
At that moment, Bernard also reached out for the popcorn, and their hands coincidentally touched.
How awkward!
When their hands touched, Christina felt his warmth and quickly looked up, meeting his eyes.
Their gazes were awkward, and they quickly looked away from each other.
"Do you want some popcorn?" Bernard picked up the popcorn bucket and handed it to Christina.
Christina looked at the popcorn offered to her, hesitated for a moment, and then took it, "Thank you."
Their conversation quickly ended, and Christina absentmindedly ate a piece of popcorn, her mind not on the movie.
Christina hated wasting things the most, but she ended up wasting four movie tickets for this film.
In the end, she didn't even know what the movie was about.
"The main characters are so pitiful. They loved each other so much but couldn't be together in the end."
Listening to other viewers' comments about the movie, Christina felt very regretful.
Although she didn't particularly like the movie, it seemed to be a good one.
Unfortunately, she didn't remember any of it.
"The designated driver hasn't arrived yet, let's wait a bit."
Bernard had been drinking, so he couldn't drive. They had to wait by the car for the designated driver to arrive.
"Okay." Christina stood a fist's distance away from Bernard, not too close but not too far, making the atmosphere particularly ambiguous.
Fortunately, the designated driver arrived just as Christina couldn't hold on any longer.
Christina quickly ran to the front passenger seat, opened the door, and sat down.
Seeing her actions, Bernard had no choice but to sit in the back seat.
On the way, Bernard looked at Christina's reflection in the car window, his eyes deep in thought.
Christina felt a gaze on her cheek, making her face heat up again.
In silence, they returned home, one after the other.
"I'll go to the guest room." Bernard stopped at the door.
Christina nodded and went inside.
Closing the door, Christina quickly took a shower and lay down on the bed.
It was already early morning, but lying in bed, Christina couldn't fall asleep.
Every time she closed her eyes, the scene of their kiss would appear in her mind.
At that moment, if she opened her eyes, she would see Bernard's eyes, and the distance between them was almost negligible.
Thinking about the kiss, Christina's heart couldn't help but race.
Could it be that he liked her a little?
Christina couldn't find any other reason to explain the sudden kiss, but she couldn't believe that Bernard would have feelings for her.
Tossing and turning all night, Christina appeared in the dining room the next morning with dark circles under her eyes, making Bernard laugh.
"Christina, what happened to you?" Hellen looked at her with a mix of amusement and concern.
Christina forced a smile, "I'm fine, Grandma, I just didn't sleep well last night."
"Have a glass of milk." Bernard handed her a glass of milk.
Looking at the milk in front of her, the scene of the kiss from last night flashed in her mind again, making her cheeks heat up once more, "Thank you."
After breakfast, Christina avoided Bernard and quickly returned to her room to continue job hunting.
She couldn't forget what happened last night and couldn't face Bernard calmly, so it was better to avoid him for a few days.
Bernard seemed to realize she was avoiding him, and for the next few days, he left early and returned late, giving them almost no time to meet.
After a few days, the incident gradually faded from memory.
Now, Christina's biggest problem was finding a job. She never expected that after rejecting Ruben, she couldn't find a suitable job.
"Why is it so hard to find a job?" Christina sighed after sending out her twentieth resume with no response.
Hellen happened to pass by and sat down beside her, "If you want, I can help you."
From what she knew, the Mitchell family was involved in advertising. If Hellen wanted to help her, there were two ways. One was to use connections to find her a job at another company, and the other was to open a small advertising company for her to run.
