Chapter 664 If You Want to Cry, I'll Lend You My Shoulder

Bernard gave her a long look, then flashed a gentle smile and said softly, "Hey, you okay? You look kinda tired. Didn't sleep well last night?"

Katherine shrugged. "Nah, just had some weird dreams."

Bernard stood up and gave her shoulder a gentle rub. "Try not to overthink before bed. That might help with the dreams."

Katherine nodded slightly.

Bernard then turned to Sunny, his tone getting more serious. "Sunny, I got you the day off too. Stay home and keep Katherine company."

Sunny was stunned. Did he hear that right? Bernard actually got him a day off?

Seeing Sunny's hidden excitement, Bernard sternly reminded him, "It's just one day off, and your teacher left you homework. Make sure it's done before I get back."

"Okay, got it." Sunny nodded obediently. A day off with homework? Still better than school. He could sneak out to play while Bernard wasn't home!

After Bernard left, Sunny looked at Katherine with admiration. "Katherine, you're amazing! Bernard got me a day off just so you wouldn't be bored at home! I used to hear Bernard doted on Laura a lot. I thought, how much could he dote on her? More than Scarlett? Now that I've seen it, you're way more impressive than Scarlett! Bernard used to be good to Scarlett as long as it didn't touch his principles. But with you, Bernard has no principles at all!"

Katherine just grinned. "Finish your breakfast and get your homework done!"

She didn't care to compare who Bernard loved more, her or Scarlett.

Sunny chuckled and asked, "Can I go out this afternoon? Just for an hour, I promise to be back on time!"

Katherine raised an eyebrow. "If you finish your homework in the morning, then you can!"

Sunny immediately stood up. "No problem! I'll go do it now!"

With that, he quickly ran upstairs to do his homework.

Looking at his barely touched breakfast, Katherine couldn't help but think that love could indeed make one feel content with even the simplest of things.

Unlike her, she needed to eat well now, to be in the best condition for the upcoming due date.

At 10:30 AM, Sunny excitedly came downstairs with his completed homework to show Katherine. "Look! I finished it!"

Katherine was sitting on the couch, looking at her phone. She had reminded Alex in the morning to accept her transfer, but he still hadn't replied.

It is so annoying, so why not just accept it?

Hearing Sunny's voice, she snapped out of it and took the homework book from his hand to check it.

Then she lazily raised her head while saying, "Where's the pen?"

Sunny frowned in surprise. "Why do you need a pen? You're not doing homework!"

Katherine pointed to a question on his homework. "What do you think? I'm going to mark your mistakes. You can't go out until you correct them!"

"Damn!" Sunny scratched his head in frustration, then ran upstairs to get her a pen.

Katherine marked over twenty mistakes in Sunny's homework and made him sit beside her to correct them. He had to show her the corrections afterward.

Sunny had no choice but to correct his mistakes while sitting beside her so that he could go out.

It took him a full hour to correct all the mistakes and get Katherine's approval to go out for an hour!

Learning from yesterday's lesson, he didn't dress up today. He just changed into clean clothes and quickly went out.

After checking Sunny's homework, Katherine looked at her phone again.

Alex still hadn't accepted her money or replied to her messages.

When they first exchanged contact information, he was annoyingly talkative. Now he wasn't replying at all?

Though he didn't reply, at least he should accept the money.

Below her conversation with Alex was a message from Jonathan.

She opened it to see Jonathan asking: [Katherine, are you okay?]

Katherine found it a bit strange and replied: [I'm fine, what's up?]

Jonathan typed: [Are you really okay? Don't pretend. If you want to cry, I can come over.]

Katherine was puzzled. [Why would I cry? What's wrong?]

This time, Jonathan took five minutes to reply: [Nothing. I'm just worried since your due date is near. I was afraid you might be feeling emotional. Glad you're okay!]

Katherine felt something was off but couldn't pinpoint what it was.

She replied to Jonathan: [I'm fine. I'll take good care of myself. Thanks for your concern.]

Jonathan: [Okay, take care.]

After the conversation with Jonathan, Katherine felt a bit uneasy.

At this moment, she felt movement in her abdomen. As she looked down, she saw her belly moving up and down—it was the baby kicking.

Even her baby could sense her unease and was getting restless.

Katherine gently stroked her belly and softly comforted, "It's okay, baby. Mommy is fine. Mommy is here."

After a long while, the movements in her belly gradually calmed down and finally stopped.

Sunny arrived at the Crescent Group just in time for the lunch break.

He was a regular at the CEO's office, so Ambrosia's secretary was used to seeing him and didn't stop him.

He boldly entered Ambrosia's office and saw her staring thoughtfully out the floor-to-ceiling window, lost in her thoughts.

He deliberately lightened his steps and then suddenly appeared in front of her with a mischievous grimace.

Ambrosia wasn't scared at all, and instead, she merely found his behavior childish. She elegantly adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses and asked, "Why are you here again? Shouldn't you be at home with Katherine?"

Sunny said, "I was with her all morning. I just came to see you during lunch! You ignored me yesterday and didn't have lunch with me, so I was hungry until dinner! But I forgive you, as long as you have lunch with me today!"

Ambrosia looked at him coldly. "You can have lunch with me anytime, but you need to stay home with Katherine these days. Don't leave her alone."

Sunny didn't quite understand. "Why? When Katherine stayed with you guys before, she was often home alone, wasn't she?"
