Chapter 500 Apologize
An hour and a half later, it was time to hand in the papers. Fern, still not done, was told by the host to submit hers. Helpless, she handed it in and anxiously looked at Camlia in the audience.
After collecting Fern's paper, the host invited the grading teacher to grade the papers live.
The scores came out quickly.
The host looked at the scores, stunned and in disbelief.
He then announced the scores to the media and live audience.
"Dear media and viewers, thanks for waiting! The retest scores are in!“
”Katherine, just like before, answered all questions correctly and got a perfect score!“
”As for Fern, she had three major questions unfinished. The part she did complete scored a total of—2 points, from a 2-point true/false question!"
The audience was in an uproar.
"What’s going on? Fern only got 2 points! How is that possible?"
"Didn't the host say she didn't finish the paper and had three major questions left?"
"Even if she left three major questions unfinished, she shouldn't have only gotten 2 points! She got a perfect score last time. How could she not solve the problems with different values?"
"The points she got were from a true/false question, which she probably guessed right! So, she actually didn't even get 2 points?"
"How did she get a perfect score the first time?"
"Yeah! I don't get it."
Fern hung her head low, unable to face the media and live cameras.
She had tried her best to guess the answers but still didn't get a single question right, messing everything up!
She never expected Katherine to demand a retest.
In the audience, Camlia was already surrounded by the media.
"Camlia, what do you think about Fern only scoring 2 points in the retest?"
"Didn't you say Fern was the real top student? How come she couldn't solve the problems just because the values were changed?"
"Were your accusations against Katherine all made up? Did Fern never actually get into Janetrick University?"
Bombarded with questions, Camlia just wanted to take Fern and escape, but the media surrounded her tightly. She could only grit her teeth and say, "I already said Fern is tired. She couldn't perform well because she's exhausted!"
The media were clearly not convinced.
"Even if she was tired, she couldn't have scored only 2 points! She got a perfect score the first time, so even random answers wouldn't have resulted in just 2 points!"
"Was Fern cheating in the first exam?"
"If Fern isn't the real top student, does that mean Katherine didn't take Fern's SAT scores and actually got into Janetrick University on her merit?"
Camlia was pushed back by the media, looking guilty but still insisting, "Fern is a top student! She got into Janetrick University with her excellent scores, and it was Katherine who took Fern's scores!"
The media started getting angry, feeling used by this mother-daughter duo from the countryside.
"If Fern is a top student, how could she only score 2 points, worse than an average person? Explain that!"
"Yes! We need an explanation!"
"A top student scoring only 2 points, who would believe that!"
Camlia remained stubborn. "I already said Fern was tired, so she didn't perform well! And my daughter hasn't studied for years. It's not surprising she forgot some things, right?"
The media scoffed.
"Not surprising? She didn't just forget some things. She forgot how to calculate!"
"I think she never remembered. She was never a top student! She's just using our media to create hype!!"
"Even now, they won't admit the truth? They were the ones spreading lies, and we, the media, and the public were fooled by their act!"
Facing the media's harsh criticism, Camlia was speechless, her face pale.
The live stream's comment section also changed its tone.
[The truth is out! Justice always wins!]
[Where are Fern's fans? Why so quiet?]
[They must be feeling ashamed!]
[Just changing the values in the questions, and Fern couldn't solve any of them. Is this your so-called top student?]
