Chapter 91 She Invited Him to the Hotel

Not knowing what happened to Sherry this time, Katherine responded and hung up the phone, returning to the dining table to find her.

Only a few tables were occupied in the high-end restaurant during lunch. The spot Sherry had reserved was next to the floor-to-ceiling window, allowing diners to enjoy the river view while eating. It was an expensive spot with a minimum spending requirement.

Sherry had thought twice about booking this spot to impress Alex!

Normally, Sherry would never spend so much money on a reservation like this. What made her even angrier was that despite spending so much money on the reservation and ordering the most expensive dishes, Alex left without taking a single bite!

At this moment, Katherine walked over from a distance and saw Sherry sitting by the window with a sullen face, arms crossed in resentment.

There was only Sherry at the table. Alex was nowhere to be seen.

Actually, Katherine had anticipated this. Sherry wouldn't have called her in that tone in front of Alex, so Alex had probably left.

"Sherry, what did you call me back for?" she then asked.

Hearing her voice, Sherry immediately turned her head and glared, questioning, "Katherine, did you do it on purpose?"

Katherine looked puzzled, then asked, "Do what on purpose?"

Sherry gritted her teeth in anger and continued, "You deliberately didn't answer my call! Katherine, do you know that Mr. Melville thought you were insincere in your apology because you didn't come to the table? He left without eating a single bite!"

Katherine innocently furrowed her brows, then replied, "Sherry, if I remember correctly, didn't you tell me to pretend to have a stomachache and not come back?"

Sherry stiffened her face, but she didn't back down despite being in the wrong. Instead, she became even more aggressive, pointing at Katherine and shouting, "When Mr. Melville first expressed his dissatisfaction, I called you to come back. It was because your phone was unreachable that Mr. Melville got angry and left! If you had answered the phone and come back to apologize to Mr. Melville, he wouldn't have left! Katherine, it's all your fault! You're nothing but a jinx!"

Katherine was speechless and twitched her lips.

Sherry couldn't keep Alex, and she was blaming her for it!

Already upset about spending a fortune on the Taste of the Clouds reservation for nothing, Sherry became even more annoyed at the sight of Katherine's indifferent attitude. Sherry said angrily, "I don't care! If you can't get Mr. Melville to come back and have lunch with me today, I'll dock your pay and make you cover the cost of this meal!"

Katherine helplessly spread her hands and stated, "But I don't have any money."

Sherry glared at Katherine with disgust, feeling superior because of Katherine's poverty. She said disdainfully, "If you don't have money, then give me back the $800 I advanced to you!"

Sherry knew Katherine had no money. She was just a country girl. ‘What money could Katherine have?’ Sherry thought.

But Sherry had already lost a fortune on this meal, so she had to get the money back from Katherine to at least make up for some of the loss!

Katherine shook her head and replied, "Sherry, I didn't do anything wrong. You have no reason to dock my pay!"

Seeing her dare to refuse, Sherry got even angrier and then retorted, "Didn't you do anything wrong? You burned Mr. Melville first! And just now, Mr. Melville left because of you! If you still think you did nothing wrong, I'll call Dad right now and let him decide!"

Katherine lowered her head, a sly look flashing in her eyes, but she appeared frightened. She said, "Sherry, don't call Dad. I'll figure out a solution."

Sherry rolled her eyes and rebutted, "Hmph! What can you do? Don't try to play tricks. Just give me the money right now!"

Katherine took out her phone and said, "Mr. Melville probably hasn't gone far. I'll call Leander to see if we can get Mr. Melville to come back."

Sherry was taken aback and immediately looked wary, asking, "What? How do you have Leander's number?"

Katherine responded, "Oh, I ran into Leander when I came out of the restroom earlier. We chatted for a bit, and I got his number."

"Why would you get Leander's number? Are you trying to seduce him?" Sherry sarcastically retorted.

Katherine shook her head earnestly and explained, "I wasn't trying to seduce anyone. It's just that since I'm your assistant and you pay me well, I thought I should be more responsible. I figured knowing more people could be helpful, so I got Leander's contact information. Maybe he can help you expand your work resources in the future! Dad even reminded me this morning to be grateful and to help you with your work."

Sherry glared at Katherine suspiciously but then sneered. "At least you have some brains! Go ahead and call Leander. I want to see if you can convince Mr. Melville to come back!"

"I'll do my best." Katherine lowered her eyes and turned around to dial the number.

Soon, the call connected. Leander's respectful voice came through, "Ms. Galatea, what can I do for you?"

Katherine spoke politely, "Mr. Nelson, could you please tell Mr. Melville that the earlier incident was my fault and ask him to come back for lunch?"

Leander was a bit taken aback by Katherine's sudden politeness but replied, "I'm sorry, Ms. Galatea. Mr. Melville has a meeting at the company now and can't come back."

Katherine sighed regretfully. "I see."

Sherry was standing nearby, straining to hear the conversation. Since the call wasn't on speaker, she couldn't hear the other side.

Katherine thought for a moment and then said, "Does Mr. Melville have time this evening? To show my sincerity, I'll cook for him myself and apologize. Could you ask him if he can give me a chance?"

Leander hesitated, then replied, "Uh, hold on, I'll ask Mr. Melville."

Katherine nodded, then remarked, "Okay, please ask him."

The black Mercedes-Benz was cruising steadily on the road.

Leander turned from the front passenger seat to look at Mr. Melville in the back...

Alex still bore the faint imprint of a hand, with his handsome features stern and brooding. He leaned back in his seat, eyes closed, deep in thought.

One thing Leander was sure of was that Mr. Melville was in a very bad mood.

Leander cautiously spoke, "Mr. Melville, Katherine called to invite you to dinner tonight. She said the earlier incident was her fault. She wants to cook for you herself to apologize. Do you have time this evening?"

Hearing Katherine's name and thinking of the slap on his face, Alex furrowed his brows in anger. Without opening his eyes, he coldly said, "No!"

Leander, feeling helpless, turned back to the phone and responded, "Ms. Galatea, Mr. Melville doesn't..."

Alex suddenly opened his eyes and said in a deep voice, "Ask her for the time and place."

Leander paused, then replied, "Yes, sir!"

After coordinating the time and place with Katherine over the phone, Leander hung up and reported, "Mr. Melville, Ms. Galatea has invited you to meet at 8 PM tonight in room 808 at Lunar Haven."

Alex narrowed his eyes. Katherine invited him to a hotel... for dinner?
