Chapter 134 Silent Treatment
"Nothing," Alex answered.
Alex's gaze swept past Sunny, staring at Katherine's retreating figure outside the suite door.
Sunny sighed a bit gloomily. "Scarlett always says she's coming back soon, but it's been so long, and she's still not back! While she's been away, no one at home protects me. They all look down on me, especially Bernard. He criticizes me every time he sees me and oppresses me all day long!"
"If you want to know when Scarlett will come back, you can call and ask her yourself," Alex said.
"Forget it. I'd rather let Scarlett rest and recover abroad. I don't want to put pressure on her," Sunny said.
Alex lowered his eyes, his gaze indifferent. "Since Sophie's foot is fine now, you should accompany her on Scarlett's behalf and make sure she gets home safely."
Sunny nodded obediently. "Okay, I got it! Alex, where are you going?"
Alex had already started walking out, replying nonchalantly, "Home."
Seeing Alex about to leave, Sophie chased after him a few steps, calling out, "Alex! Wait, Alex..."
Sophie wanted to stop Alex, not wanting him to leave with Katherine, that country girl. However, Alex did not stop, nor did he look back. He walked out of the suite with steady steps.
Sophie clenched her fists secretly, her face full of unwillingness.
Sunny frowned worriedly and reminded, "Sophie, now that you're fine, why don't you call Scarlett to let her know you're safe? Don't make her worry about you abroad!"
Sophie snapped out of it and nodded helplessly. "Okay, Sunny, don't worry. I'll call Scarlett and let her know."
When Katherine dragged her suitcase out of the hotel lobby, Leander had already driven the car to the hotel entrance.
Teresa had also packed her luggage and came out with Katherine.
They handed their suitcases to Leander to put in the trunk. Teresa then went ahead and opened the back door, only to find someone already sitting inside.
Alex was sitting leisurely in the car, leaning lazily against the leather seat. He had a laptop on his well-proportioned legs, covered by casual pants, and was focused on reviewing emails.
Teresa looked puzzled. "Huh? Alex. Didn't Leander say you had business here? He mentioned he'd take Katherine and me home first."
Alex turned his head and glanced at her. "I'm done with my business. I'll go back with you."
Alex's deep gaze swept lightly over Teresa and paused for a few seconds on Katherine behind her before returning to his laptop.
Teresa didn't think much of it, stepping back to make room for Katherine. "Katherine, get in the car!"
Katherine didn't move, shaking her head and saying to Teresa, "You go first."
"Katherine, you go first. You should sit next to Alex!" Teresa said.
"No, I want to sit by the window so I can get some fresh air if I get carsick," she answered.
"Oh, okay then!" Teresa nodded understandingly and got in the car, leaving the window seat for Katherine.
But Alex's gaze on the laptop screen darkened.
Carsick?
She was fine on the way here. He didn't see Katherine getting car sick.
This was clearly an excuse not to sit next to him!
As the car drove along the mountain road, Teresa regretted sitting in the middle because she felt the atmosphere in the car was very strange.
Alex and Katherine both remained silent, especially Alex, who seemed to exude a chilling aura for no apparent reason.
Ugh! She should have gone around to Alex's side and let him sit in the middle next to Katherine.
Why did she have to sit in the middle?
But now, it was too late to regret.
Katherine wore her headphones the entire time, resting with her eyes closed, ignoring the world's noise. During the two-hour drive, neither of them said a word.
Only Teresa occasionally chatted with Leander to ease the awkward and cold atmosphere.
The car first arrived at the Harris family villa. Since Teresa was sitting in the middle, Katherine got out of the car first to make way for her.
After getting out, Teresa asked if Katherine and Alex wanted to come in and sit for a while.
Both of them refused simultaneously, with Alex being direct and Katherine a bit more tactful.
Teresa reluctantly said goodbye to Katherine and then went inside.
Katherine got back in the car, sat by the window again, put on her headphones, and continued to rest with her eyes closed.
"What are you listening to?" Alex finally spoke, his tone indifferent.
"Music," Katherine answered him with her eyes closed.
"What kind of music?" he continued.
"Pop music," she then answered.
Alex's eyes darkened, his jaw tightened, and he said no more.
Katherine didn't open her eyes to look at him either.
Once at Melville Manor, Katherine went straight to her room, took a shower in the bathroom, and changed into comfortable clothes, ready to take a good nap.
The past two days had been very unpleasant and exhausting.
When she came out of the bathroom after her shower, Alex was sitting on the wicker chair outside the floor-to-ceiling window, smoking.
The smoke swirled and drifted with the wind, adding a touch of softness to his stern and handsome profile.
Hearing the bathroom door open, Alex turned his head to glance at her.
Seeing Katherine about to climb into bed, Alex's brows furrowed with authority, and he said in a deep voice, "Dry your hair before getting into bed!"
Katherine, who was halfway onto the bed, paused, obediently responded and got up to return to the bathroom.
Soon, the sound of a hairdryer came from the bathroom.
Alex's face was dark and brooding. Katherine was clearly obedient, but why did it make him even more upset?
Half an hour later, Katherine came out with her hair dry and was about to get into bed again.
"Come here, pour me a glass of water." Alex's deep voice rang out again, this time in a commanding tone.
Katherine's brows furrowed in irritation. She took a deep breath, got up, and poured a glass of water, bringing it to him.
Placing the glass on the table in front of him, Katherine turned to leave without lingering for a second.
However, her wrist was suddenly grabbed by his rough hand, pulling her back. With his strength and the force of inertia, Katherine was forced to sit on his firm thigh, and his arm circled her waist, making it impossible for her to get up!
She looked at him with dissatisfaction. "Alex, do you need something?"
Alex narrowed his long, handsome eyes at her, exhaling a thin stream of smoke towards her face. "Katherine, watch your attitude."
Katherine frowned and said, "Alex, I've been obedient to you. Isn't my attitude good enough? Do you want me to pour you water and then kneel to serve you?"
