Chapter 69 I Didn't Need You to Teach Me How to Be a Person
Theodore and his companions exuded an air of certainty that they would win as they lounged on the sofa.
Theodore, observing Sunny's confident demeanor, arrogantly taunted, "Sunny, if you had just admitted defeat to me earlier, I might have let you off the hook! But you insisted on resisting. Not only do you have to hand over ownership of Moonlight Manor to me, but you also have to livestream your surrender to me. This was your choice, so don't accuse me of bullying you!"
Although Sunny lacked confidence in securing victory, he had no choice at this point. He couldn't afford to show weakness. Through gritted teeth, Sunny retorted, "The match hasn't even started yet. The outcome is still uncertain!"
Theodore sneered, "When you livestream your surrender, don't you dare cry!"
Sunny, determined, exclaimed, "Enough talk, let's begin!"
Everyone took out their phones and entered the game.
The opposing team automatically formed a group while Katherine and Sunny waited for randomly matched teammates to join them.
Soon, three players with nicknames like Wind_Dancer, Rainbow_Adventurer, and Starry_Voyager joined their team. Team formation successful!
The match commenced.
Sunny wasn't optimistic about their situation. He was tense, lacking confidence, his palms sweaty. But when he saw the levels of the three teammates who joined, he couldn't believe his eyes. They were all highly skilled experts at the game!
They had actually been matched with top-tier players!
Sunny finally saw a glimmer of hope. He whispered to Katherine, "We're incredibly lucky this round. We've been matched with three top-level players! Katherine, as long as you play steadily, we can win! Stand back and follow my lead!"
Ignoring Sunny, Katherine positioned herself at the front to engage the enemies.
"Do you hear me? Stand back!" Frustrated that Katherine wasn't listening, Sunny trailed behind her protectively.
However, as Sunny watched Katherine's actions, he was astonished.
First Blood!
Double kill!
Triple kill!
Quadra kill!
Penta kill!
Despite being labeled as level 0, Katherine executed flawless gameplay right from the start!
Katherine didn't seem like a level 0 player at all!
Sunny was dumbfounded, deeply impressed. He now had a newfound respect for Katherine, but this wasn't the time for curiosity.
Confident that Katherine wouldn't hold them back, Sunny focused on coordinating their efforts to push forward.
From their initial arrogance to the worry upon realizing they were matched with high-level teammates, Theodore's team was now in a state of distress. They were being thoroughly beaten!
In the end, Katherine and Sunny's team emerged victorious!
As the match concluded, Theodore, seething with anger, slammed his phone to the ground!
Sunny, reveling in his victory, reached out, saying, "You lost. Hand over the wagering agreement to me!"
"Sunny, you got lucky this time!" Theodore stood up, retrieved the wagering agreement from his pocket, crumpled it irritably, and tossed it to Sunny.
Sunny caught the crumpled paper, confirmed its contents, and promptly tore it up.
"Theodore, without cheating, you guys were bound to lose. If you're not satisfied, let's have another round. If you lose again, you surrender to me! Do you dare?"
"I don't have time to play with you anymore!" Clearly apprehensive, Theodore turned and left with his companions.
Sunny finally had his moment of triumph!
Meanwhile, Katherine lounged lazily on the sofa, exited the game, opened the top chat group on Telegram, QuestMates United, and sent generous money to the group: [Well played, here's your reward!]
Frank's profile picture suddenly popped up. He typed: [Katherine, you suddenly called us to play a game, and now you're dismissing us after the game, just giving us money?]
Katherine replied: [What do you want then?]
Frank sent an emoji: [I want you!]
Another profile picture, a scenic view, with the name Ambrose Hawthorne, appeared: [Katherine, it's been a while since you come to the company.]
Frank chimed in: [Exactly!]
Katherine responded: [I'll make time to visit in the next few days. Behave yourselves!]
After reassuring her subordinates, Katherine put away her phone, stood up, and left.
"Katherine, wait!" Sunny called out.
Katherine paused. "Mr. Mitchell, do you need something?"
Approaching her, Sunny fixed a somewhat awkward and stern, but not exactly friendly, gaze on Katherine. "Why did you help me today when I haven't treated you well before?"
Katherine calmly replied, "Consider it a return for your help earlier."
Unconvinced, Sunny retorted, "Hmph! Even if I hadn't helped you out earlier, you wouldn't have been bullied by those girls. It would have been fine for you even without my intervention!"
"Flattery." Katherine lightly smiled, observing the bruises around Sunny's eyes and mouth and raising an eyebrow. "Mr. Mitchell, I'm curious. When you were beaten at your own place, didn't you think to call your family's security to rescue you?"
Sunny, with a stubborn expression, stated, "If I called them, they would inform my family. I don't want them to know!"
Katherine patted his shoulder gently. "Sunny, when it comes to personal safety, especially at home, pride should be set aside. When in danger, your well-being is paramount. You don't need to put up a front."
Sunny's gaze flickered, his brows furrowing in displeasure. "I don't need you to teach me how to be a person!"
Katherine withdrew her hand, shrugging indifferently. "Then consider my words unsaid."
Seeing Katherine about to leave again, Sunny hurriedly caught up, somewhat arrogantly saying, "Hey! Katherine, considering you helped me today and played the game well, I'm willing to be friends with you!"
Katherine stopped and looked at him. "You want to be friends with me? Have you forgotten that I'm Alexander's wife?"
Chin raised, Sunny replied, "Of course not. But I know that you and Alexander are just a fake couple!"
Raising an eyebrow, Katherine asked, "You can tell?"
Confidently, Sunny affirmed, "I don't need to see it. Alexander would never betray Scarlett. He would never touch you!"
With a slight narrowing of her beautiful eyes, Katherine challenged, "Is that so? Then why doesn't Scarlett just marry Alexander directly? That way, I wouldn't be in the picture anymore!"
At this, a shadow of concern crossed Sunny's face. "Because there have been some conflicts between our families' elders, so their marriage has been hindered. But in the future, they will reconcile!"
"Katherine, now that I've befriended you, let me kindly remind you that you're just a pawn. Alexander married you under pressure from Jackie Melville of the Melville Manor. Don't entertain any inappropriate thoughts about Alexander, or you'll only end up hurt because, in the end, Alexander will always be Scarlett's husband."
