Chapter 583 Ready to Leave
Sunny hesitated before blurting out, "Katherine, why the heck are you holding Ambrosia's phone?"
Katherine shot back, "When did you two hook up?"
Sunny was at a loss for words. He remembered Ambrosia had warned him to keep their fling a secret from Katherine, so he clammed up.
"Uh, Bernard called me to help with homework! Gotta go!" He made up a lame excuse and hung up.
Listening to the dial tone, Katherine took a deep breath.
Everything was a mess. It was bad enough that Frank and Teresa were tangled up, but now Ambrosia was mixed up with Sunny. Things were spiraling out of control!
The next morning, Katherine took Charles downstairs for breakfast like usual.
Yesterday, she had taught Charles to eat with a spoon by himself, and today he was doing great without needing any help.
As Katherine was sipping her milk, Jackie, who usually wasn't a fan of hers, surprisingly said, "Katherine, don't just drink milk. Eat some meat to get more protein!"
Katherine gave a polite smile in response.
She wasn't moved; she just felt that any concern from the Melville family was only because of the baby she was carrying.
After breakfast, Fiona took Charles to play, and Katherine went to find Sandra.
Jackie headed to the study after breakfast, so only Sandra was in her room.
Katherine knocked on the door, and after getting Sandra's okay, she walked in and saw her holding some baby clothes.
Seeing Katherine come in, Sandra smiled warmly. "Katherine, perfect timing. Check out these baby clothes I made. Aren't they adorable?"
Katherine smiled faintly. "Yeah, they're cute! But you can just buy baby clothes when the time comes. No need to go through all this trouble, Sandra."
Sandra shook her head. "It's no trouble at all! Just thinking about the baby wearing clothes I made makes me so happy! Besides, the store-bought ones aren't as good as homemade!"
Katherine just smiled, feeling nothing special.
"By the way, Katherine, did you need something?" Sandra put down the baby clothes and asked.
Katherine nodded, "Sandra, you mentioned yesterday that you could take me out for a walk. Can we go out tomorrow?"
Sandra replied, "Of course, where do you want to go?"
Katherine sighed, "I'm feeling cooped up at home. Can we go to Arborwood Grove?"
Sandra held Katherine's hand. "Of course! Katherine, you don't have to ask for permission like this. Just tell me where you want to go!"
Katherine gave a bitter smile. "If I could go anywhere, there wouldn't be so many bodyguards watching me at the door!"
Katherine continued, "Alright, then please take me out for a walk tomorrow morning. I checked the weather forecast, and it's supposed to be a particularly nice day!"
Sandra looked at Katherine with pity, thinking, 'Katherine seems fine, but her spirit isn't what it once was. She used to be so full of energy.'
After saying what she needed to say, Katherine turned and left. Her goal was to make Sandra feel a bit guilty and lower her guard. Tomorrow, she was determined to escape from the Melville family.
Leaving Sandra's room, Katherine saw Fiona playing with Charles in the yard, and Nathan was there watching them.
Katherine thought for a moment and walked out.
As soon as Charles saw Katherine, he left Fiona and ran towards her. "Kate!"
Fiona followed Charles and complained, "You little ingrate, I just spent so much time entertaining you, and now you see Katherine and don't want me anymore!"
Charles giggled at Fiona but clung affectionately to Katherine's leg.
Katherine reached out and patted Charles's head. "Go play with Fiona. I'll watch you from here."
Charles obediently took Fiona's hand and went to play with.
Fiona took Charles to the swing in the yard and gently pushed him.
Seeing Fiona, who rarely showed such patience with Charles, Katherinefelt a bit relieved, thinking even if she left tomorrow, Fiona would take good care of Charles.
"Katherine." Nathan walked over to greet her.
Katherine turned to look at Nathan and smiled politely. "You're here early?"
"It's Saturday, no classes at school, so I came early to tutor Fiona." Nathan said.
"Thank you."
At the sight of Katherine's calm demeanor, Nathan's expression became a bit complicated. "Katherine, are you really doing well here?"
Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Do I not look well?"
Nathan's thick eyebrows furrowed as he looked at her deeply, "When I first saw you here, you seemed okay, even in good spirits. But recently, I don't think you're doing well at all!"
Katherine smiled. "You're right. I haven't been doing well lately."
Nathan was a bit indignant. "Those bodyguards at the door are there to watch you, right? Mr. Melville doesn't seem like a good man!"
Katherine didn't explain anything, remaining silent for a while. Looking towards Fiona and Charles, she said meaningfully, "Nathan, if I'm ever gone from Melville Manor, please make sure Fiona treats Charles well. He's really pitiful."
Nathan was stunned. "You're not going to be around"
Katherine didn't intend to say more. At that moment, Fiona called, "Nathan, can you come over and help push us?"
Nathan was still waiting for Katherine to explain, but she just said, "Go on. Fiona's calling you!"
Realizing Katherine didn't want to say more, Nathan sighed and walked towards Fiona.
Katherine wasn't worried that Nathan would say much to Fiona. In her impression, Nathan was a very measured person. The reason she said those things to him was because Fiona only listened to him.
If Nathan told Fiona to take good care of Charles, Fiona would definitely do it.
