Chapter 127 Ms. Jones Stirring Up Trouble Again
Teresa crossed her arms and laughed. "Did I say it was you? Why are you coming over here to claim that?"
Sunny glared. "You."
Seeing that the two were about to argue again, Katherine said, "Alright, both of you, be quiet and eat. No talking while eating, or you'll choke."
Teresa obediently nodded and ignored Sunny, following Katherine's instructions and quietly eating her breakfast.
Sunny looked at Katherine, huffed arrogantly, and then also lowered her head to eat in silence.
Sophie watched this scene with malice in her eyes. Katherine had somehow managed to charm Alex and even had the unruly Teresa under her thumb. Now, even Sunny was listening to her?
This situation was dangerous. Katherine might look innocent and naive, but her tactics were far more cunning than Sophie had anticipated!
The weather was great, with clear skies and a gentle breeze, perfect for flying kites.
Katherine held a swallow kite while Teresa ran ahead with the spool. The swallow kite quickly soared into the sky.
The kite flew high and far in no time. The two girls stood together, letting out the line and laughing happily.
Sophie suddenly approached with a butterfly kite, smiling gently at Teresa. "Teresa, could you help me fly this kite too? I can't manage it alone, and I'm not very good at it."
Teresa turned to look at her, the smile vanishing from her face. She rolled her eyes and said irritably, "Sophie, sorry, I don't have time! Can't you see I'm busy flying a kite with Katherine? Figure it out yourself!"
Sophie's face stiffened.
Adjusting the kite string, Katherine turned her head and raised an eyebrow. "Ms. Jones, if you don't mind, I can hold the kite while you run ahead to let out the line."
Sophie looked at Katherine with a suspicious gaze. "Would you really be that kind?"
Katherine shrugged indifferently and stated, "If you don't believe me, then forget it!"
Since yesterday, Sophie had completely fallen out with Katherine, so there was no need to pretend anymore. She disdainfully turned and walked away alone.
Watching Sophie's ungrateful back, Teresa was very annoyed and asked, "Katherine, she caused you so much trouble yesterday. Why are you even bothering with her?"
Katherine narrowed her beautiful eyes slightly. "I think she's up to something again. If I don't engage, I can't figure out what her new tactic is."
"Up to something?" Teresa glanced at Sophie's back. "What? She's not done yet?"
Sophie walked to a farther spot and started running with her kite. The kite initially took off but flew very unsteadily, soon falling to the ground and dragging along.
However, She didn't give up, still pulling the kite string. Then she kept running and looking back, but she accidentally tripped and fell to the ground, letting out a scream!
She didn't get up for a long time.
"Help, help... someone..." she yelled out.
Sunny, who was in the equestrian field, heard the cries for help and looked over. "Alex, Hilton, something seems to have happened over there!"
They immediately rode their horses over to check the situation.
Sophie was sitting on the grass, her legs in shorts covered in bloody scrapes.
Sunny was the first to dismount and walked over, asking with concern, "Sophie, what happened to you?"
With tears in her eyes and a pained expression, Sophie said, "Sunny. I fell while flying the kite, and I think I twisted my ankle. It hurts so much."
Sunny squatted down to support her, looking at the bloody scrapes on her legs, and frowned. "Sophie, how could you be so careless!"
At that moment, Teresa was looking disdainfully in Sophie's direction and grumbled, "Katherine, you are right. She's stirring up trouble again! Hmph, she fell while running and somehow she couldn't get up, calling for help; what an act. Only that fool Sunny would believe her!"
Katherine remained calm, reeling in the kite string. "Let's take a look."
The organizer of the gathering, Hilton, also dismounted and walked over slowly, asking, "Sophie, how do you feel? Can you stand up?"
Sophie shook her head, tears streaming down. "Hilton, it's my fault. I can't even fly a kite by myself."
Hilton frowned slightly and asked, "Why were you flying a kite alone?"
Sunny furrowed his brows and added, "Yeah, Sophie, why were you flying a kite alone? Why didn't you ask someone to help you?"
Sophie lowered her eyes and sighed helplessly. "I went to ask Katherine and Teresa for help, but they ignored me. Maybe because of the misunderstandings from yesterday, I offended Katherine, and she forbade Teresa from talking to me." Sophie paused, sighing helplessly. "Seeing Katherine and Teresa working together to fly a kite, I was really envious. If Scarlett were here today, I wouldn't be alone. I would have someone to fly a kite with."
With just a few words, Sophie made it seem like she was being deliberately isolated.
Hearing Sophie mention his sister Scarlett's name, Sunny felt regretful. He had been suspicious of Sophie because of yesterday, but now he only felt sympathy.
Sophie was Scarlett's best friend. If Scarlett knew Sophie was hurt, she would be very worried.
At this moment, Teresa walked over with her hands on her hips, having heard everything Sophie just said, and angrily retorted, "Alex, she's lying! Katherine offered to help her fly a kite, but Sophie didn't appreciate it and gave Katherine attitude!"
Sophie's eyes reddened, and she looked at Teresa with grievance, crying out in her defense, "Teresa, I know you're a kind-hearted person and want to protect your Katherine, but you can't slander me to protect her! You both ignored me. Otherwise, why would I be flying a kite alone and end up falling like this?"
Teresa was disgusted by her twisting of the truth. "Hmph! Sophie, this isn't the first time you've cried wolf! The world is big, and I've seen a lot, but meeting someone like you who lies without blinking is truly eye-opening!"
"Teresa, I was wrong about yesterday, and I know it, but I'm not lying today!" Sophie seemed to be greatly wronged and leaned on Sunny's shoulder, crying bitterly.
Teresa found her crying laughable, turned her head up, and said to Alex, who was still on horseback, "Alex, don't believe this woman! She just wants to cause trouble and smear Katherine!"
Alex glanced down at Teresa and then at Katherine, who was standing quietly, not far away. Finally, his sharp, deep gaze swept towards Sophie, furrowing his brows, and he nodded at Sunny. "Help her up first!"
