Chapter 969 Start a Family
"Fortunately, Jessie had a guilty conscience, otherwise, it would have been me that you sent to the police station!"
As she spoke, Christina looked up and met Bernard's eyes.
For some reason, she felt that Bernard's gaze at this moment was different from before.
Feeling uncomfortable under his stare, Christina changed the subject, "You almost wronged me just now; shouldn't you apologize to me?"
Bernard slightly tilted his head, finding Christina more intriguing than before.
Except for Katherine, no one had ever dared to ask him to apologize.
However, today he indeed almost wronged Christina by trusting Jessie.
"Sorry."
Saying this expressionlessly, Bernard turned and went upstairs.
Although it wasn't a formal apology, for Bernard, this was already very difficult.
Unexpectedly, Bernard really apologized, and Christina's opinion of him changed a bit. Thinking he must be hungry after rushing home, she spent a long time in the kitchen making some home-cooked dishes.
After finishing all the dishes, Christina went to the study upstairs and knocked on the door, "Mr. Mitchell, I made lunch, let's eat together."
After a while, Bernard opened the door, looking serious but actually followed her downstairs.
They went to the dining room together, and Christina placed the food on the table, "These are my specialty dishes, try them. If you don't like them, you can tell me your preferences, and I can cook according to your taste in the future."
"There are maids at home, you don't need to do this." Bernard picked up a fork and started eating, his tone indifferent.
Hellen had also told her the same thing.
It seemed everyone was telling her that everything in the Mitchell family was already taken care of, and she didn't need to do anything.
But if she didn't do these things, Christina didn't know what else she could do. It didn't feel right to just eat and drink here for free.
"I like cooking, and it helps pass the time when I'm free," Christina replied and then started eating.
Throughout the meal, Bernard didn't say a word, but he did eat quite a lot.
Christina secretly thought that her cooking should suit his taste.
In the afternoon, Christina brought food to the hospital and told the two elders about Jessie.
Hearing that Jessie had framed Christina out of jealousy by drugging them, Hellen snorted coldly, "What was she thinking? Did she really think anyone could become Bernard's wife?"
Christina's smile froze slightly, and she lowered her gaze. Actually, apart from her title as Miss Russell, she and Jessie were the same.
Perhaps, in Hellen's heart, she wasn't the most suitable wife for Bernard.
But it didn't matter, this marriage would only last for a year.
After a year, she would have nothing to do with the Mitchell family.
"Try these dishes. Do you like them? This time I stayed in the kitchen the whole time, so there won't be any problems with the food!"
Christina handed forks to Hellen and Vincent, carefully taking care of them as they ate.
Hellen and Vincent both enjoyed the food Christina brought, finding it quite tasty.
From then on, Christina brought them food every day to make up for her previous mistake of not watching the kitchen.
The two elders recovered well, and after a full-body check-up, the doctor said they could be discharged.
Bernard specifically paused his work to come to the hospital to pick up the two elders.
"Grandma, be careful." Christina held Hellen's hand, helping her into the back seat, and then helped Vincent in.
Bernard drove himself, with the two elders in the back, and Christina had to sit in the front passenger seat.
"How have you two been at home these days?" Hellen looked at Bernard and Christina in front, feeling very pleased.
She had worried about Bernard's marriage for a long time, and now it finally had a good outcome.
Actually, during this time, Christina had been at home alone, and Bernard hadn't come back much.
Christina glanced at Bernard, seeing he had no intention of replying, so she quickly fulfilled her role as his contract wife, smiling and answering, "Grandma, we're doing well! Don't worry!"
Hellen smiled. "Christina, knowing that you're taking care of Bernard really puts my mind at ease. Since your marriage is settled, have you thought about starting a family? Vincent and I would be thrilled to become grandparents someday."
Christina's face froze, and she looked to Bernard for help.
She didn't know how to respond to this!
"Grandma, it's still early to talk about having children," Bernard replied calmly, his eyes on the road, as if discussing the weather.
Hellen was very dissatisfied with his answer, "You're already thirty; when do you plan to have children if not now? Christina, don't listen to him, you should start preparing for pregnancy!"
"Grandma, I understand, we'll work on it!" Christina replied with a forced smile, lowering her head in embarrassment, her face turning red.
Even though she knew nothing would happen between her and Bernard, she couldn't help but feel shy discussing this topic.
Christina's answer made Hellen very satisfied. She turned to Vincent, holding his hand, "See, I told you we needed someone to manage Bernard. With Christina, we can worry less!"
Vincent nodded in agreement.
Bernard drove very steadily, and they soon returned to the Mitchell mansion.
Christina thoughtfully helped Hellen and Vincent back to their room, where the maids had already prepared tea and snacks.
Christina helped them sit down and adjusted their cushions, "You rest well. I won't disturb you. Call me if you need anything!"
Hellen smiled and nodded, "Alright, Christina, you must be tired too! Get some rest!"
After settling the two elders, Christina planned to return to her room.
However, at the door, she suddenly realized she couldn't stay there anymore.
With Hellen and Vincent not at home these past few days, Christina had moved to a nearby guest room for convenience.
But now that the elders were back, staying in the guest room would give her away!
She had to move back to Bernard's room.
Christina reluctantly moved her things back to the master bedroom, sighed, and took out a comfortable short-sleeve set to change into.
Just as she was pulling her top up, revealing a patch of smooth skin, the door suddenly opened from the outside.
She turned her head, and both she and Bernard, standing at the door, were stunned!
