Chapter 27 It's Me
Alexander remained unfazed, "Originally, it wasn't necessary, but during the course of our marriage, I won't allow you to cheat. So, anything like you planning to kiss other men behind my back, that's not going to happen again."
Katherine rolled her eyes, turned her head to look at the street scene outside the car window, and sarcastically snorted, "You're not setting a good example yourself. Weren't you also meeting other women in public and having private encounters?"
Alexander glanced at her, "Are you jealous?"
Katherine found it absurd and tugged at the corner of her mouth, "Jealous? We're not a real couple! I'm just angry that you kissed me without warning, almost suffocating me!"
Alexander raised an eyebrow, "If I remember correctly, you didn't warn me either when you kissed me last time."
Katherine was momentarily speechless, furrowing her brows, "Well, that's different! I just lightly kissed you without..."
Alexander's lips curled up, "Without what?"
There was a teasing tone in his voice.
It made Katherine blush, and she swallowed her unsaid words, "Nothing!"
To be honest, she would rather have chosen to kiss that unfamiliar, attractive man she met at the bar, someone she had no emotional connection with and never had any further involvement with.
Unlike Alexander! With Janetrick's influence being so significant, today's incident would surely become widely known, causing who knows how much trouble!
She had hoped to spend these three months as discreetly as possible, the fewer people knowing about her relationship with Alexander, the better. After the three months were up, she could cut ties completely and never have anything to do with the Melville family again.
Just as she was feeling annoyed, the phone rang again.
Katherine glanced at the caller ID; it was her father, Joshua.
If Joshua was calling at this time, it was probably because Sherry had caused trouble again.
Katherine answered the phone, and as expected, her father's voice was as irritable as she had anticipated, almost deafening even without the speakerphone!
"Katherine, what disgraceful things have you been doing outside? Come home immediately and explain!"
Katherine rubbed her temples, "Dad, I'm a bit tired today. I'll come back tomorrow."
Joshua angrily exclaimed, "No! What have you done to be so tired? Come back right now!"
Not wanting to argue further, Katherine hung up the phone and turned it off.
Joshua's roaring voice from the phone call moments ago was still ringing in the quiet car.
Alexander, as if nothing had happened, lowered his gaze and continued to scroll through the financial reports on his phone, skimming through them effortlessly. He casually asked, "Do you need me to accompany you back?"
Katherine shook her head lightly, "It's just a family matter; I don't want to bother you."
The black sedan dropped Katherine off at the entrance of the Melville Manor and then drove away, leaving Alexander behind.
It was for the best. Sandra was at home, and it spared them the need to pretend to be affectionate in front of the elderly, which could easily reveal their flaws.
Katherine went upstairs and returned to her room, feeling upset, so she turned on her computer and logged into a game.
A private message from a game friend popped up.
SunnyBridge: [Boss, you're finally online!
This game friend, with the nickname "SunnyBridge," was the one who had hacked the entire Apricot Group system after being tricked by Ruth for equipment.
Since she had infiltrated the encryption system of the AJ Association and negotiated with this person, he had been clinging to her, insisting on learning from her.
Without her consent, he started calling her boss!
Katherine lightly tapped the keyboard in response: [What's up?]
SunnyBridge: [Nothing! I'm just not feeling good today, so I wanted to talk to you!]
Katherine: [What happened?]

She remembered that besides Hilton and the curly-haired woman, there was also a handsome young man with thick eyebrows and big eyes, looking like he was seventeen or eighteen. He must be this "SunnyBridge"!

Katherine sighed and didn't reply. She went on to play the game alone to distract herself.
After winning several rounds, Katherine finally opened the unread private message.
SunnyBridge: [Boss, are you at Janetrick? Can I take you out for a meal?]
Katherine: "Forget it; I guess you wouldn't be happy to see me."
SunnyBridge: [Why? Boss, you're my idol! How could I not be happy to see my own idol!]
Katherine smiled to herself, thinking, 'Because I'm the bitch you just cursed.'
At that moment, someone knocked on the door.
Katherine closed the game interface, got up, and went to open the door.
It was Sandra. "Katherine, I've prepared dessert for you. Have a taste."
Behind Sandra was a maid, holding a dessert emitting a sweet fragrance.
These days, Sandra has been finding all sorts of things to drink, as if she is completely drained.
But fortunately, they all tasted good, and she didn't resist.
"Thank you!" Katherine opened the door wider to let Sandra in.
Sandra looked at Katherine, drinking the dessert she had personally made, and smiled warmly. "Katherine, did you come back alone? Where's Teresa?"
Katherine answered truthfully, "Alexander has already sent Teresa home with Leander."
Sandra furrowed her brows slightly. "You ran into Alex outside?"
Katherine obediently drank the dessert and nodded.
Sandra was a little unhappy. "Then why didn't he come back with you?"
Katherine explained, "He did drop me off at the door, but he's busy with work and has a lot to take care of. He might come back later."
Sandra snorted in frustration, "That brat! He has such a beautiful little wife at home, yet he doesn't come back every day! Does he think work can give birth to children?"
Katherine couldn't help but smile wryly.
In fact, Sandra was quite lovely, not as stern and imposing as she was when they first met, just a little too eager to have grandchildren!
The next afternoon, Katherine returned to the Galatea Manor.
As soon as Joshua saw her, he was so angry that he directly smashed the glass in his hand and shouted, "You shameless thing, kneel down for me!"
