Chapter 220 Taking Back the Melville Family's Gift

Watching Sherry lose her temper, Katherine just felt bored. "She yawned lazily, maintaining a faint smile as she calmly stated, "Sorry, whether you want to associate with me or not, I'm here to reclaim what's rightfully mine."
At the word "gift," Sherry's face stiffened. She frowned deeply, clearly displeased, and snapped, "Based on what?"
Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Based on what? If I remember right, that gift was sent to me by my husband, Mr. Melville. So, why shouldn't I take it?"
The term "my husband, Mr. Melville" enraged Sherry even further. How dare Katherine call Mr. Melville that! Mr. Melville was supposed to be her man, her husband, but Katherine had bewitched him.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Sherry pointed at Katherine and cursed, "That's bullshit! What do you mean Mr. Melville gave it to you? That gift is clearly mine, given to me by the Melville family! You, you shameless bitch, stole my man, and now you want to take my gift too! How dare you! Katherine, I'm warning you, don't go too far!"
Sherry had already lost the man of her dreams and couldn't afford to lose those precious gifts too!
Each gift from the Melville family was incredibly valuable; selling any one of them could fetch millions!
And now, Sherry had no job in the entertainment industry and had offended the most famous Mr. Reid, making her comeback even more difficult.
So she was counting on those gifts from the Melville family to live a wealthy life!
And now Katherine wanted to take the gifts? No way!
Lillian called out, "Sherry, who's here? What are you yelling about at the door?"
Hearing the commotion, Lillian came out to see what was going on.
Sherry turned to her mother, Lillian, who was already walking over, and said with disgust, "Mom, it's Katherine! Can you guess why she's here today? She actually has the nerve to come back and ask for my gift!"
As soon as Lillian heard it was about the gift, she reacted just like Sherry and immediately frowned.
She walked over to Sherry's side, looked at Katherine, who was still outside the door, and said angrily, "Katherine, this is too much! You've already taken Sherry's man, isn't that enough for you? How can you come back to take her gift too? If your dad knew about this, he would never agree to you treating Sherry like this! He would never let you off easily!"
Adjust for clarity: "Katherine looked calmly at her stepmother, Lillian, and stated, "I'm here to reclaim what rightfully belongs to me. I don't intend to seek anyone's approval. My things are mine."
Lillian believed that Katherine could only retrieve those gifts with Joshua's approval. She rolled her eyes and said, "Katherine, it's not that I'm saying this, but you're too greedy! How can you want both the man and the things? That's not right!"
Greedy? That's interesting. They were the greedy ones!
Katherine smiled faintly. "Lillian, I've never coveted other people's things since I was a child, but I absolutely don't like others taking what's mine! Mr. Melville sent the gift, and as his wife, I have the right to take it back!"
Lillian snorted disdainfully, "Oh, please! Don't use Mr. Melville to pressure me! That Mr. Melville was supposed to be my Sherry's man. If it weren't for your meddling, Sherry would be the real Mrs. Melville now!"
Mentioning this made both Lillian and Sherry furious!
Katherine felt helpless towards the mother and daughter's delusional confidence. Even now, they still believed that Alex originally intended to marry Sherry?!
Alex's taste wasn't that low.
At this moment, Joshua had just woken up from his nap and came downstairs yawning.
Hearing the commotion at the door, Joshua walked over to see what was happening.
The moment he saw who it was, Joshua's eyebrows shot up. "Katherine, it's you! How dare you come back!"
Katherine noticed that Joshua's face was still bruised and swollen, looking quite disheveled.
She remembered that Joshua had followed Lillian and Sherry to the Melville Manor to show off, only to be dragged out and beaten by the Melville family's servants. That's why he was left with injuries.
After thinking for a moment, Katherine nodded lightly. "Yes, I'm back. I don't see why I wouldn't dare to come back."
Joshua glared at her, gritting his teeth in anger!
He strode forward, pushing Sherry and Lillian aside, and pointed at Katherine viciously. "How dare you come back! You deliberately had the Melville family's servants kick me out and beat me up that day. See if I don't beat you to hell today!"
As he spoke, Joshua raised his hand and aimed a slap at Katherine's face.
However, the raised hand was easily caught by Katherine, who held it firmly. "Mr. Galatea, don't be so violent. Why don't we calm down and talk privately?"
This wasn't the first time Joshua had tried to hit Katherine. In the past, Katherine never doubted that Joshua was her biological father, so she always gave him some face.
When faced with such slaps, she would usually dodge them herself, not wanting to get hit but also not wanting to embarrass Joshua too much.
But today, for the first time, Katherine caught Joshua's slap. She held his wrist tightly, her expression showing no respect or consideration for him as a father.
Joshua, who had gained weight in middle age, prided himself on his strength, but his hand was caught by his slender daughter, unable to pull it back or bring it down.
He was genuinely taken aback by Katherine's strength. How did Katherine acquire such strength? Was she still the useless daughter he thought only caused trouble?
Joshua felt that Katherine's action had completely stripped him of his dignity as a father. Enraged, he accused, "Katherine, are you rebelling? This is outrageous! How dare you lay a hand on me!"
Katherine still held his wrist calmly, her expression indifferent, and said slowly, "Mr. Galatea, calm down. I have some questions for you, and I was hoping you could answer them truthfully. If your answers are honest, I might consider not taking back the Melville family's gift."
Joshua fell silent, realizing Katherine's intentions
So she was after the Melville family's gift?!
Joshua was also unwilling to part with the gifts from the Melville family. Those were the most exquisite items he had ever laid eyes on.
