Chapter 409 Settled with Katherine
Katherine said calmly, "I'm here as a guest."
Scarlett scoffed. "A guest? Who'd invite you here?"
Katherine smirked. "Mr. Vincent Mitchell and Mrs. Hellen Mitchell. Couldn't say no."
"What?" Scarlett was shocked. "My grandparents invited you? Are you the one who saved my grandpa?"
Katherine replied flatly, "Not exactly a lifesaver, just a guest."
Scarlett was stunned. She'd dressed up to meet the guest, only to find out it was her most hated Katherine!
How could Katherine be her grandpa's lifesaver? What a coincidence!
Scarlett thought for a moment, eyeing Katherine suspiciously. "Katherine, did you plan this? Did you scheme to get close to my grandpa and pretend to save him?"
"You're overthinking. I don't need to get close to your grandpa, nor do I have time for schemes."
Scarlett frowned, glaring at Katherine. She stepped down a few stairs to stand in front of her.
There was a step between them. Scarlett wanted to use her height to intimidate Katherine, glaring down at her.
Katherine, however, smiled. "What? Planning to roll down the stairs and blame me, or slap yourself and say I did it? Can't you come up with something new?"
Scarlett gritted her teeth, glaring with even more hatred!
But then she remembered what her mom had told her. She calmed down and bowed. "Katherine, I was blinded by love before and did inappropriate things to you. I realize my mistake now and formally apologize. I'm sorry!"
The apology was so sudden that Katherine looked around. No one was nearby. Who was Scarlett putting on a show for this time?
Scarlett sighed deeply, looking relieved. "Now I understand that Alex only has eyes for you. No matter what I do, Alex won't consider me anymore. So, I've decided not to bother you and Alex anymore!"
"Katherine, I've let go of Alex. We shouldn't be at odds over a man anymore. Let's just write off our past grievances!"
Katherine squinted. Was Scarlett really trying something new, or had she truly accepted reality and let go of Alex?
Before Katherine could respond, Scarlett jumped to her side, linking arms with her. "Katherine, if you don't say anything, I'll take it as your forgiveness! Last time you were here, I wronged you. Let me make it up to you with a proper tour of our home this time!"
Katherine calmly pulled her arm away, keeping her distance. "No need, I have other things to do."
She never liked physical contact with outsiders, especially with someone she disliked, like Scarlett.
Scarlett's eyes reddened. "Katherine, are you still mad at me? I really want to make peace and show you around! Our house is a century-old mansion, pretty historic. It's worth a look."
’Show me around every room? Did that include mymom's old room?‘
Thinking of this, Katherine got a bit interested. No matter Scarlett's intentions, she wanted to take advantage of this chance.
"If you're sincere, wait here. I'll go upstairs and deliver these cookies Mrs. Hellen Mitchell baked to Sunny. Then I'll join you for the tour."
Scarlett eyed the plate of cookies in Katherine's hand. "Alright, I'll go with you to see Sunny then!"
Katherine didn't mind, letting her follow but avoiding any physical contact.
When Sunny saw Scarlett with Katherine, he was stunned, then quickly pulled Scarlett behind him. "Katherine, if you have a grudge, , come at me. Don't bully Scarlett!"
Katherine glanced at him indifferently, then placed the cookies on his desk. "Mrs. Hellen Mitchell baked these. Enjoy."
Sunny was stunned again, looking at the cookies Katherine had brought, frowning.
Scarlett tugged at her brother. "Sunny, don't be rude! Katherine is here as Grandpa's lifesaver. Show some respect!"
Sunny had heard from Furry that Katherine was Grandpa's lifesaver but hadn't gotten details. Now, hearing Scarlett, he looked at Katherine with mixed feelings.
He didn't dislike Katherine; he just thought Scarlett was gentle and weak, while Katherine was strong. If they clashed over Alex, Scarlett would suffer!
So he worried Katherine might bully Scarlett.
But Scarlett's attitude towards Katherine seemed different today.
Sunny asked, surprised, "Scarlett, you and Katherine..."
Scarlett smiled brightly. "I've made up with Katherine. We'll get along now! Sunny, be good and do your homework. I'll take Katherine on a tour!"
While Sunny was still confused, Katherine and Scarlett had already left.
What was going on? How could Scarlett and Katherine, two rivals, get along so well today?
As soon as they left Sunny's room, Scarlett checked her watch and smiled at Katherine.
"Katherine, where do you want to start the tour?"
Katherine replied indifferently, "Anywhere is fine."
Scarlett said, "Then I'll start with my room and closet! Follow me, Katherine."
Katherine nodded slightly and followed. She had no interest in Scarlett's room, but if she specifically requestedto start with the former Mrs. Mitchell's room, it would definitely raise Scarlett's suspicion.
Better to start randomly.
