Chapter 630 He Was Embarrassed to Go Upstairs
Teresa whipped up all the grub, and Frank helped haul it to the table, ready for chow time.
Sunny, already starving, dashed to the room to drag Ambrosia out for dinner.
When Teresa strolled out of the kitchen after washing up, she spotted Ambrosia and Sunny chilling side by side, with Frank across from them, and an empty seat next to him.
Frank flashed her a grin, clearly waiting for her to plop down.
Instinctively, she didn't wanna sit next to Frank, so she asked, "Where's Katherine?"
Ambrosia chimed in, "She said she's not hungry and will eat later."
Teresa frowned. "The food's gonna get cold. I'll go get Katherine."
With that, she spun around and headed to Katherine's room. She knocked and walked in, seeing Katherine lounging against the headboard, nose-deep in a thick book. "Katherine... Ms. Galatea, it's chow time. You can read after dinner. Let's eat first."
Katherine glanced up. "I'm not hungry yet, you guys go ahead."
Teresa looked serious. "No way! You're pregnant, you gotta eat on time. Even if not for you, think about the baby!"
Katherine stayed put. "I know skipping one meal won't hurt. I just wanna be alone right now, please leave."
For some reason, Teresa felt a bit spooked by Katherine and didn't push further, "Alright. I'll bring some food to your room so you can eat by yourself."
Katherine had no appetite, but knowing Teresa was stubborn, she let her be.
As Teresa turned to leave, she felt a chill and noticed Katherine's window was slightly open.
'It's getting late and cold. Catching a cold would suck, especially since pregnant women can't take meds easily.' Thinking of this, Teresa went to close the window before leaving. As she shut it, she glanced down and saw Alex.
"Alex is downstairs," Teresa recognized the person and exclaimed excitedly.
Katherine, still reading, just raised an eyebrow and didn't look up.
Seeing Katherine's lack of reaction, Teresa ran over and grabbed her hand. "Katherine! Sorry, Ms. Galatea, you gotta come see! Alex is really downstairs!"
Katherine calmly pulled her hand back and raised an eyebrow. "He's probably here to pick you up. It's late, you should go home with Alex."
Teresa frowned. "No way! Alex wouldn't come to pick me up without calling. Why would he just stand there waiting? He's not dumb!"
Katherine didn't wanna get involved, but Teresa yanked her from the bed to the window to take a look. Katherine saw Alex leaning against the car, puffing on a cigarette, staring up at the building.
Even though it was a high floor and she couldn't see his face clearly, Alex's gaze seemed to lock onto her. Just that distant look made Katherine's previously calm mood a bit agitated.
Teresa, all excited, said, "Alex must be here to see you but is too shy to come up! Ms. Galatea, should I go get him?"
"He's not welcome here." Katherine stared downstairs for a few seconds, then yanked the curtain shut, ignoring him.
Seeing Katherine so cold, Teresa pouted helplessly, then sneaked a peek through the curtain again, only to find that Alex and the car were gone.
'Alex just leaves like that? Why doesn't he stick around a bit longer to show his sincerity to Katherine,' Teresa wondered.
Katherine, having been dragged out of bed, didn't bother to lie back down. "Let's go have some food."
Teresa nodded, forcing a smile. "Alright. Let's go eat together."
Katherine came out of the room and plopped down at the dining table.
With Katherine there, Teresa sat next to Frank.
Once everyone was seated, they started munching and chatting.
Teresa's cooking was on point and got everyone's praise, making her a bit embarrassed.
Sunny, munching away, couldn't stop saying, "Katherine, when your baby is born, will Ambrosia be the godmother?"
Ambrosia shot him a warning look.
Sunny, not thinking he asked anything wrong, waited for Katherine's answer.
Katherine glanced at him. "What are you trying to say?"
Sunny grinned. "If your baby recognizes Ambrosia as the godmother, then I'm the godfather! That means I have a kid! I can't believe I'll have my own kid at eighteen!"
Teresa couldn't wrap her head around how Ambrosia, such a mature and independent woman, could like a big goof like Sunny.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
Teresa jumped up. "It must be Alex! He finally couldn't resist coming up to find Katherine! I'll get the door!"
Saying that, she ran excitedly to open the door.
Everyone at the table looked at Katherine to see her reaction. However, she showed no special reaction.
Teresa's smile faded and her eyes filled with disappointment when she saw it wasn't Alex at the door. Outside, Bernard looked surprised to see Teresa, checked the door number, thinking he might have the wrong place.
Teresa asked, "Bernard, why are you here? Are you here to pick up Sunny?"
Bernard frowned slightly. "Sunny is here?"
Teresa nodded, "Yeah, he's inside eating. Sunny Bernard is here to pick you up!"
Bernard pinched his brow and said, "I'm not here to pick him up."
Teresa looked curious. "Then why are you here?"
