Chapter 224 Pregnancy Test Encounter with Mr. Melville

Frank put on a shy act and said, "Huh? Why me? I'm still a virgin, you know. How can I not be embarrassed to buy that stuff? It's so humiliating!"
He was just trying to crack a joke to lighten the mood, but Katherine and Ambrosia both looked at him with extreme disdain, not even cracking a smile.
Feeling it was pointless, Frank shrugged and said, "Alright! I'll go! Happy now? Hmph, as the president of Crescent Group, I get treated like a servant by you two every day! Oh, God!"
Ambrosia glanced at Frank, ignored his rambling, and started the car to head to a nearby pharmacy.
While driving, Ambrosia glanced at Katherine through the rearview mirror a few times, furrowing her brows with concern. Katherine's complexion had worsened since she had just dry-heaved.
Katherine wasn't in good shape. She'd been exhausting herself designing the new office building for the Melville Group. Even though she stayed home most of the time, she hadn't been resting well.
Lately, she seemed to get tired easily, feeling an inexplicable fatigue.
Frank pointed to a pharmacy by the roadside. "Ambrosia, we just passed a pharmacy. Why don't you stop?"
Growing more concerned, Ambrosia said cautiously, "I think we should take Katherine directly to the hospital for a check-up."
Frank looked surprised and said, "Ambrosia, did you forget that Katherine hates going to the hospital?"
"We're just going for a blood test; it won't take long." Ambrosia insisted. Since she was driving, she could only look at Katherine through the rearview mirror and asked, "Katherine, let's go to the hospital for a check-up! Your complexion doesn't look good. Even if it's not for a pregnancy test, it's good to check your health. And if it's an ectopic pregnancy, we can catch it early and treat it."
Katherine forced a reluctant smile. She wasn't even sure if she was pregnant, and Ambrosia was already worried about an ectopic pregnancy.
Her period had been absent for the past two months, and she couldn't tell if it was just irregular or if she had actually conceived that night.
In the end, unable to resist Ambrosia and Frank's persistent persuasion, Katherine agreed to go to the hospital for a blood test.
At the hospital's obstetrics and gynecology clinic, the obstetrician looked at the test results and said seriously, "Congratulations, you're seven weeks pregnant, and the fetus is developing well."
The doctor's words left Katherine stunned. She instinctively touched her abdomen. Was she really pregnant? Seven weeks into the first trimester.
Ambrosia stayed calm, but Frank got so emotional he couldn't hold back his tears, exclaiming, "Oh my God! I'm going to be..."
The doctor immediately glared at Frank. "The child's father, please be quiet. This is a hospital; don't disturb other patients!"
Frank quickly explained, smiling, "Ma'am, you got it wrong. I'm not the father. I was just about to say I'm going to be an uncle!"
She frowned. "Why are you so excited if you're not the father? Where is the child's father?"
The mention of the child's father made Katherine blush slightly. "He's on a business trip and doesn't know about this yet."
The doctor sighed and said with some disapproval, "This time, it's fine, but for future check-ups, your husband must accompany you! Having a baby is not just a woman's responsibility. No matter how busy he is, he should make time to accompany his wife to the hospital!"
Katherine nodded and said, "Thank you for the advice, ma'am."
The doctor added, "Although the fetus is developing well, your body is quite weak. You need to rest more, eat nutritious food, avoid overworking, and maintain a good mood. Family members should also take care of the pregnant woman!"
"Don't worry, ma'am, we will!" Frank promised with a smile.
Leaving the clinic, Katherine still felt a bit dizzy. The news of her pregnancy had caught her off guard.
She and Alex had only been together that one night. That night, he had been drugged with an aphrodisiac by Sherry, and if they hadn't had sex, he would have suffered severe aftereffects, so she felt compelled to help him.
But just that one night, and they ended up with a baby?
Katherine was only twenty, still in college, and had never considered marriage or having children. Pregnancy was a huge shock to her!
Moreover, Katherine didn't really like children. She always felt they were little monsters that disrupted everything, ticking time bombs.
She had many things she wanted to do efficiently, and she didn't want a ticking time bomb to become a lifelong burden and weakness.
But strangely, despite her dislike for children, Katherine felt a subtle warmth spreading in her heart.
She couldn't help but recall that night, the way Alex held her tightly. Even though he was agitated, he restrained his drug-induced rough instincts, trying to be gentle and considerate, guiding her to the peak.
Such a gentle and sensual man in bed made her heart race and blush; it was impossible to remain indifferent.
She wondered if Alex would be happy to know she was pregnant—excited about becoming a father that he'd be at a loss for words?
She couldn't predict his reaction accurately, but at this moment, she was eager to see him.
He had been on a business trip for half a month and should be back soon, right?
She would tell him when he returned.
Otherwise, if hereceived a call about her pregnancy, he would probably drop everything and fly back immediately!
She didn't want to disrupt his important work.
Frank teased, "Katherine, you're going to be a mom soon. Are you excited?"
Katherine snapped back to reality and yawned. "It's alright."
Frank carefully supported Katherine's arm. "Katherine, be careful! The floor here was just mopped, and the tiles are still a bit slippery. I'll hold you; don't fall!"
Katherine rolled her eyes and said, "I'm not that delicate! I'm not even in the late stages of pregnancy yet!"
Ambrosia, holding onto Katherine's medical file, followed closely. "Katherine, you're pregnant now. Let Frank support you. The doctor said you're weak and need to take good care of yourself!"
Speaking of taking care, Katherine did feel a bit hungry, but she didn't want greasy food, just something light and refreshing.
At this moment, Frank suddenly saw something, and his eyes lit up. "Katherine, look over there! That man in the pediatrics department looks like Mr. Melville!"
Katherine paused and looked in the direction Frank pointed. That height, that perfect V-shaped body, that elegant yet powerful stance—who else could it be but Alex?
Frank clicked his tongue and remarked, "Alex is back? Did he already know you were pregnant and came to the pediatrics department to prepare for fatherhood?"
