Chapter 213 Are You Mad at Me?
Alex entered the guest room to find Katherine standing by the bed, her back to the door, drying herself with a towel.
Her shirt was unbuttoned but still loosely draped over her shoulders, revealing her beautiful shoulder blades and fair back.
It was such a sight, and he never had the chance to appreciate it at home.
His thoughts wandered, imagining if it had been someone like Jonathan who entered instead of him. Would Katherine have been so careless about her state of undress?
The thought darkened Alex's stern face and tightened his jaw.
Hearing someone enter, Katherine didn't turn around and simply said, "Angela, please put the clothes on the cabinet next to the door. Thank you!"
Katherine's nonchalant attitude deepened Alex's frown. It seemed she needed a harsh lesson!

Alex locked the guest room door.
"Who are you thanking?" His voice filled the room, commanding attention.
Alex's deep voice echoed in the room, causing Katherine to pause her movements. She turned around and, seeing him, her face first showed a bit of surprise, then her expression turned indifferent. "Oh. it's you."
"It's me. Disappointed?" Alex walked towards her with steady steps.
Seeing Alex approach, Katherine quickly rebuttoned her wet clothes. "No, I thought it was Mr. Mostow's secretary bringing me clothes!"
Her haste to cover herself only fueled Alex's anger, evident in his darkened eyes.
When he wasn't around, she undressed and didn't lock the door.
When he was around, she wrapped herself up tightly?
What did she mean by this?
Others could see, but he couldn't?
He tossed the bag of clothes he was holding onto the bed and coldly glared at her. "Stop drying yourself. Go take a shower and dry your hair before changing into clean clothes!"
Annoyed but unwilling to argue in her current state, Katherine huffed and headed into the bathroom for a warm shower.
She had fallen into the water, and he was still so harsh with her? Did he have any sympathy at all?
Ten minutes later, Katherine finished her shower. She wrapped herself in a towel and peeked her head out from the bathroom door. "Alex, where are the clothes you brought for me?"
Sitting on the sofa, smoking, Alex squinted and gestured towards the bed. His tone was curt. "Over there. Are you coming out to get them, or should I come in and help you dress?"
Katherine rolled her eyes at him and ignored him.
Then, she wrapped herself in the towel, took small steps to the bed, grabbed the bag, and quickly retreated to the bathroom. She closed the door and changed into the clothes before coming out.
The dress, belonging to Jonathan's secretary Angela Wood, was a knee-length burgundy silk slip dress, mature and elegant but too large for Katherine.
Drying her hair with a towel, Katherine emerged from the bathroom, "Alex, where did you get these clothes?"
Alex looked up, slightly stunned.
Katherine, in the red dress, made his eyes burn with heat.
It was rare for him to see Katherine in such a sexy outfit, and she was stunningly beautiful.
Shaking off his distraction, he flicked ash from his cigarette. "I didn't get them. They belong to Jonathan's secretary."
Katherine was curious. "Then why did you bring them in?"
Alex omitted the events that happened outside the guest room. "I ran into her outside, and she asked me to bring them in for you."
"I see!" answered she.
Katherine vigorously rubbed her damp hair and walked to the bed to get her phone, wanting to check for any unread messages.
"Come here!" Alex commanded, extinguishing his half-smoked cigarette and gesturing towards him.
Reluctant and still upset, Katherine hesitated but eventually put down her phone and obediently approached. "Whatb is it?".
Alex patted his thigh and articulated, "Sit here!"
Katherine paused, feeling uneasy.
Did Alex want her to sit on his lap?
Embarrassed by the thought, she moved towards the other end of the sofa.
Knowing her well, Alex swiftly reached out, pulling Katherine into his arms and settling her on his lap.
Katherine frowned in displeasure and pushed him, trying hard to break free, looking like a kitten annoyed with its its owner.
Alex's long, strong hand encircled her slender waist, giving her no chance to escape. "Why are you avoiding me? I'm not going to harm you."
Katherine glared at him and huffed, "Who knows!"
Alex found her arrogant expression adorable. His grip softened a bit as he gently held her, smoothing her still-damp hair. "Alright, stop fussing. Tell me, why didn't you wait for me and come in alone?"
Katherine replied irritably, "Because I was cold, so I came in first! If I had waited for you, I would have caught a cold!"
Alex's stern eyes softened with concern. He pulled her closer into his arms. "Sorry. Are you mad at me?"
Katherine pouted, not avoiding his gaze, and said frankly, "Yes, I am angry!"
Alex liked this about her. She didn't bottle up her feelings. Otherwise, he would have to guess, and he was afraid he couldn't guess a girl's thoughts correctly, leading to misunderstandings.
He inquired, "Is it because I didn't come in with you earlier?"
Katherine answered, "No."
Alex asked, "Then tell me, what did I do wrong to make you angry?"
Katherine didn't beat around the bush, glaring at him. "Cuz you asked me 'what's going on' earlier. Alex, are you suspecting that I would bully your Scarlett? Do you think so poorly of my character?"
So that's what it was? Alex helplessly pinched her cheek. "Nonsense! You're my wife. How could I doubt you? Someone accused you, and I wasn't there . I wanted to hear your side before confronting them."
Katherine seemed convinced by his explanation, her tightly furrowed brows relaxing a bit, but she still felt a bit upset.
Alex coaxed her gently, "In that situation, if not you, who should I trust? Should I believe what others say without hearing from you??"
Katherine pouted, her tone softening a bit. "Men always have a way with words!"
