Chapter 274 What Are You Doing?
When Katherine returned to the private room, she noticed Jonathan was missing too. She had no clue where he went.
Alex wasn't back yet either, so it was just Scarlett and her kid, Charles. Scarlett was feeding him some soup.
Katherine and Scarlett had just had a nasty argument in the restroom. It got pretty heated.
With no one else around, Scarlett dropped the act. She shot Katherine a cold look and kept feeding her kid.
Katherine sat down, grabbed her fork and started eating. She pulled out her phone to text Frank.
Just then, Scarlett hit the service button to call for more soup.
Katherine didn't pay much attention; she was busy with her phone.
Soon, a male waiter came in with a hot water kettle.
"Hi, I'm here to add some soup," he said.
He walked over and poured soup into the pot. Suddenly, his hand cramped, and he lost his grip on the kettle.
The hot water kettle flew towards the baby seat!
Katherine looked up just in time to see it coming!
She jumped up and grabbed the kettle, but some hot soup still splashed onto Charles's face!
Charles screamed in pain!
The waiter panicked and bolted out of the room!
"Stop!" Katherine yelled.
But she couldn't stop him. The kid's injury was the priority now!
She put down the kettle and quickly asked Scarlett, "How is he? Where did he get burned?"
Scarlett didn't answer; Charles was still crying.
Katherine saw the kid's left eyelid was swollen—a bad burn!
She tried to check the injury, but Scarlett pushed her away. "Katherine, what are you doing? Don't hurt Charles anymore!"
Katherine was shocked by Scarlett's reaction. She frowned, confused.
Scarlett started crying and called out, "Alex, Charles is hurt!"
Katherine turned and saw Alex at the door. He had just come back. She realized what Scarlett was up to!
Alex rushed over, saw the blister on Charles's eyelid, and asked, "What happened?"
Scarlett, crying but clear, said, "I called the waiter for more soup, and then Katherine grabbed the kettle and poured it on Charles!"
Katherine was speechless.
Alex looked at her with mixed emotions.
Scarlett, almost hysterical, said, "Katherine, if you're mad at me, take it out on me, not my child. He's just a baby!"
Just a few days had passed, and here they were again!
Katherine glared at Scarlett, her disdainat an all-time high.
Even with her child hurt, Scarlett was still playing games. Unbelievable.
Katherine didn't like Scarlett, but the child was innocent. He was in pain and probably scared out of his mind.
She didn't waste time arguing. She pulled out her phone and called an ambulance, giving them the address. "The waiter almost dropped the whole kettle on your kid. I tried to catch it, and the waiter ran off scared," she said.
Scarlett put on a fake look of disbelief. "Katherine, how can you lie like that? I saw you grab the kettle and hurt Charles. Blaming the waiter? That's low."
Katherine couldn't stand her. "Miss Mitchell, maybe focus on your son. He's in pain!"
Scarlett's face tightened, and she cried even harder. "He's my son; of course I care! You hurt him and now act like you're helping! I invited you here, and you do this? I thought you were better than that."
Katherine didn't bother replying, letting Scarlett have her moment.
Scarlett, not getting a rise out of Katherine, tugged on Alex's sleeve. "Alex, what do we do? Charles is suffering."
Alex checked the kid for other injuries. Seeing none, he picked him up. "Don't panic. Let's get to the hospital."
Scarlett, still crying, nodded. "Yes, we need to go."
Katherine stepped in. "I called an ambulance. It'll be here soon, faster than driving."
But Alex didn't wait. He carried the kid and rushed out.
Scarlett followed, giving Katherine a smug smile.
Katherine found it disgusting. Her child was hurt, and she was still playing games.
Just then, Jonathan walked in, seeing Alex with the crying child and Scarlett rushing out.
He looked confused. "What happened?"
Katherine replied, "Their child got burned by soup. It's bad."
Jonathan was shocked. "How did that happen?"
Katherine smirked coldly. "Scarlett says I did it. Do you believe her?"
"No way!" Jonathan said firmly, then looked her over. "Are you okay? Did you get burned?"
Katherine's palm was burned from catching the kettle, and it hurt.
But she shrugged it off. "I'm fine."
Jonathan seemed relieved. "Good. Let's go to the hospital and check on the kid."
Katherine nodded. "Yeah, let's go."
She felt bad for the kid. With a mom like Scarlett, his childhood was going to be rough.
