Chapter 917 Being Blocked

Lillian snapped, "Fine, we'll settle this in court! I've been married to you for so many years, and I even gave you a daughter and raised her. You think I'm not entitled to a share of the property? Think again! I have evidence of your affairs on my phone. You're the one at fault here. Let's see what the court has to say!"

Joshua, pointing at her in anger, said, "You greedy woman, you..."

Lillian laughed heartily, "Greedy? Look who's talking!"

Sherry, shocked by how things had escalated, stood up to intervene, but they just continued to argue even more heatedly.

Back at the church, it was just in time for the afternoon banquet.

Ambrosia and Fiona, along with their partners, accompanied Charles, George, and Edith to their seats, and they even saved a seat for Katherine.

Katherine sat down, taking a moment to catch her breath.

George, Edith, and Charles all had their eyes on Katherine.

Charles said, "Mommy, did you go out?"

George said, "Mommy, where did you go?"

Edith said, "Mommy, why are you back so late?"

Katherine hadn't calmed down yet and didn't feel like explaining that she had just gone out to see their grandmother.

With so many people around, Katherine casually responded to Charles, George, and Edith.

George, Edith, and Charles were sensible enough not to ask further questions.

But Fiona, with her heavy curiosity, leaned in and whispered to Katherine, "Katherine, I heard from Teresa that Sophia just came by! Is it true? Did you go to beat her up?"

Katherine glanced at Fiona, "She did come, but I didn't go to beat her up. It's not the right time yet."

Fiona furrowed her brows, "Then what did you go out for? It was such an important wedding!"

Katherine patted her face, "Let's eat first. We'll talk at home."

Fiona, unable to contain her curiosity, was about to say something more.

Katherine changed the subject, "Fiona, has there been a balloon seller frequently appearing near our house lately?"

Fiona was taken aback, thought for a moment, and nodded, "I've seen him a few times. There's a man selling balloons wandering around. Why, Katherine?"

Katherine squinted her eyes warily, "Be cautious of that balloon seller. Don't let the kids get close to him, and don't buy balloons from him. There have been frequent child abduction cases recently. We need to be extra careful."

Fiona also felt a bit wary, "I also thought that balloon seller was a bit strange. We've never had such vendors around our house before! But, Katherine, don't worry too much. No one would dare to mess with our family!"

Hearing Fiona's last sentence, Katherine smirked, "Your brother, a grown man, was kidnapped, and you're still so confident?"

Fiona was taken aback, "I understand. I'll be careful and inform the house staff to be cautious too!"

After the wedding, they returned to the Melville Manor close to midnight.

After Charles, George, and Edith had their baths and went to bed, Katherine tiredly leaned against the headboard, looking at her phone.

Nora had sent a message in the evening, informing her of Claire's new hospital and room number.

The message she sent to Trevor earlier in the day still hadn't received a reply.

Playing missing again?

Katherine sighed. She was genuinely tired of this disappearing act, feeling mentally and physically exhausted.

She was also tired, so she lay down to sleep.

Tomorrow morning, she had to take the kids to withdraw from their kindergarten. After what happened with Charles last time, Katherine decided not to let the kids attend that kindergarten anymore.

The children had been used as pawns to spread rumors, saying unpleasant things about Charles's biological parents, and such rumors were hard to stop.

She arranged for their withdrawal, planning to let the kids rest at home for a while before finding another kindergarten.

The next morning, after breakfast, Katherine took Charles, George, and Edith to the kindergarten.

At the kindergarten gate, there was also a balloon seller, who looked somewhat like the figure she saw at the Galatea Villa gate yesterday.

Katherine instinctively led Charles, George, and Edith around the balloon seller and walked into the kindergarten.

She had their respective teachers help them pack their personal belongings, while Katherine went to find Eris to handle the paperwork.

Eris still didn't know Katherine's true identity and only said some polite lies, not really trying to persuade them to stay. After all, she didn't want to offend the other child's parents, who seemed more wealthy and powerful in her eyes.

Katherine didn't waste words with Eris. After completing the paperwork and gathering their things, she took Charles, George, and Edith out of the kindergarten.

When they came out, the balloon seller at the gate was gone.

Katherine didn't think much of it, put Charles, George, and Edith in the car, and loaded their things into the trunk, preparing to drive home.

But just as she turned the car around and was about to drive off, several black cars suddenly appeared, blocking her way.

Katherine immediately became alert. With Charles, George, and Edith in the car, she didn't want to confront these unknown people head-on. She tried to reverse, only to find that the way back was also blocked by several black sedans.

It seemed there was no way out!

Katherine calmly told Charles, George, and Edith, "You three stay in the car and don't get out under any circumstances unless I say so."

George, Edith, and Charles nodded sensibly.

After instructing the kids, Katherine got out of the car and locked it.

Standing between the two rows of black cars, she asked, "Who are you, and what do you want?"

A man got out of the middle black car, leading a chubby boy.

Katherine immediately recognized him. It was Elisha, who had been disciplined by Charles before, and the man leading him was his doting father, Winford!

"Do you remember us?" Winford shouted in a rough voice.

Katherine remained calm, looking at them steadily, "Get to the point! Blocking the road like this, don't you think you're inconveniencing innocent people?"

Winford laughed arrogantly, "I don't care about them! I've been waiting here for days just to block you!"

Katherine felt a wave of disgust upon seeing such a man. She couldn't understand how such a bastard could exist, let alone have a child and become a father!
