Chapter 957 Another Blind Date
Edwin's voice was just as it used to be, deep and pleasant, but now tinged with the wear of years.
Claire, who had just breathed a sigh of relief, looked up at Edwin in shock. When she thought of escaping again, she found that he was already sitting beside her.
There was no way to escape!
Claire simply steadied herself, turned her face away to look at the distant scenery, and said, "Do you need something from me?"
Edwin looked at her deeply, just sitting beside her without getting too close. "I want to explain the misunderstandings between us."
Claire's expression was indifferent, still not looking at him. "Alright, go ahead and explain."
Edwin sighed deeply and said, "Back then, there were too many misunderstandings between us. You thought I cheated, and I thought you had fallen for someone else, which led to many conflicts between us.
I can swear to you that I never betrayed you. When my grandparents believed the rumors and drove you away, I was young and hot-tempered, and in my anger, I didn't stop them. Afterward, I was always looking for you. I never doubted your character; I knew you wouldn't betray me!
It wasn't until recently that I found out it was Alice kept creating misunderstandings between us and even sent people to hunt you down in my name. Moreover, she was brought into our home by my grandparents behind my back. I'm sorry, Claire, I made you suffer!"
After hearing Edwin's explanation, Claire's expression remained unchanged. "Are you done explaining?"
Edwin was stunned for a moment, then nodded. "Yes, Claire, do you still have any misunderstandings about me? If you do, please tell me, and I can explain everything!"
"No more," Claire said calmly, as if she had no interest in him at all.
Edwin frowned helplessly, took a deep breath, and cautiously asked, "I heard from Sunny that Laura and Alex are going on a world tour for their honeymoon. Claire, as Laura's parents, we didn't spend much time with her when she was young. This time, why don't we go along to help take care of the kids and make up for the love we missed giving Laura? What do you think?"
Claire said, "I can go with Laura to take care of the kids. You don't need to. Laura doesn't want to acknowledge you as her father!"
Edwin looked very ashamed but didn't want to give up. "But the kids also need their grandfather's love. The more people who love them, the happier they'll be!"
Claire was silent for a minute. "I'll think about it and discuss it with Laura. Now, I need to go check on Laura's kids. Don't follow me!"
Claire said this calmly, then got up and walked back towards the wedding hall.
"Claire, the Moonlight flowers in the garden at home have bloomed again. Do you want to take a look?" Edwin asked loudly, unwilling to give up.
Hearing this, Claire's steps paused.
Edwin's eyes flashed, and he smiled as he got up and walked towards her, as if walking towards his destiny returning to the right path.
A month later, the Melville family had another happy event.
Fiona got engaged to Nathan.
After the engagement party, Fiona and Nathan were also going to travel with Alex and Katherine.
After attending Fiona and Nathan's engagement party, Bernard, as the eldest brother of his siblings, along with Frank and his wife, sent them off to the airport.
Alex and Katherine, with their four kids, Fiona and Nathan, and Sunny, who insisted on joining the fun, along with his fiancée Ambrosia.
Additionally, Katherine insisted on bringing her mother, Claire, and Edwin from the Mitchell family, who volunteered to help take care of the kids.
After sending them to the airport, Bernard gently reminded Katherine to stay safe and warned Alex not to bully Katherine. He then hugged the four kids and said goodbye to each of them.
The four kids waved goodbye to Bernard.
After saying goodbye to the kids, Bernard looked sternly at Sunny, telling him not to cause trouble for Katherine and Alex and to behave himself!
Sunny pouted impatiently, "Alright, Bernard, I know! I'm not a three-year-old kid anymore. Can you give me some face in front of my fiancée?"
Bernard ignored him, looked up at Ambrosia, and nodded to her. "Please look after him for us."
Ambrosia nodded in return, not saying much.
Finally, Bernard walked over and gave Claire, who he hadn't seen for long, a hug. Using the same gentle tone he used with Katherine, he reminded Claire to stay safe, take care of her health, and come back early if she got tired. He told her to call him, and he would pick her up at the airport.
Claire, with red eyes, looked at Bernard and nodded, also telling him not to overwork himself and to stay safe on the way back.
Bernard, always obedient to Claire, nodded in agreement.
Before leaving, Bernard gave his father, Edwin, a stern look and said in a low, serious voice with a hint of warning, "If you lose Mom and Katherine again this time, I won't forgive you."
Edwin smiled at Bernard, "I won't. Don't worry."
Bernard saw them off at the boarding gate, waving until they were out of sight before turning to leave.
It was just a short separation, but for some reason, he felt an indescribable sadness in his heart.
His subordinate, Billy, approached and said, "Mr. Bernard Mitchell, Mr. Vincent Mitchell and Mrs. Mitchell want you to come back now. There are guests at home!"
Guests?
What kind of guests would come to the house on a day like this?
Bernard felt a bit strange but didn't ask Billy any more questions. He wouldn't know much anyway. He got in the car and instructed the driver to go home first to check it out.
Back at the Mitchell mansion.
Bernard saw a car parked in the garden that he had never seen before.
There really were guests?
He entered the house and heard laughter and lively conversation coming from the living room.
"Mr. Vincent Mitchell, Mrs. Mitchell, Mr. Bernard Mitchell is back!"
Everyone turned to look at Bernard, who had just walked in.
The mature Bernard, handsome and elegant, walked with grace and the poise of a true gentleman.
Hellen quickly waved at Bernard, "Bernard, come over here! Meet our guests. This is Mr. Sinclair and his wife, Ms. Penrose, and this is their daughter, Melinda Sinclair. Come over and get acquainted!"
Bernard nodded to Bryce Sinclair and Rachel Penrose, whom his grandmother had mentioned, and politely greeted them. Then his indifferent gaze fell on the girl named Melinda.
He suddenly understood why the elders were so eager to call him back!
It was a blind date!
Grandparents had found him another blind date!
He had no intention of considering personal relationships right now; he didn't have the time!
