Chapter 1022 What Will You Do If I'm Unhappy?

Virginia's words didn't explicitly say anything, but her intentions were very clear.

She was hinting to Christina to voluntarily give up the chance to leave in the Mitchell family's car, and let her and Bernard take it instead.

Christina could let it go, but she didn't understand why Virginia never stated her intentions directly and always used such a roundabout way to express herself.

She stepped back a few paces and looked around.

This place wasn't far from downtown, so there should be a way to leave.

Sure enough, she saw a bus stop not far away.

With a bus, she could find her own way back.

If Virginia wanted to fight for a ride with Bernard, she could have it!

"There's a bus over there, I can go back by myself." Christina pointed to the bus stop not far away, "Bernard, you can take Ms. Pearl, after all, her crew is far away."

Virginia put on a grateful expression, grabbed her hand, and said hypocritically, "Christina, thank you, you're so kind! You don't mind me calling you that, do you?"

"Of course not, I'll be going then." Christina forced a smile, withdrew her hand, and turned towards the bus stop, completely ignoring Bernard beside her.

Bernard was once again ignored and pushed towards Virginia without any concern.

Christina made the decision for Bernard without asking for his thoughts.

"Let's go, Bernard." Christina's departure made Virginia particularly happy, and she reached out to take Bernard's arm.

Bernard, with a cold face, glared at Christina's back. Since she didn't care at all, he didn't need to care either.

"Let's go." Bernard avoided Virginia's hand but did let her get in the car.

Virginia's face showed a triumphant expression as she followed Bernard into the car and left.

Who knew, once Virginia got in the car, she looked at Bernard still standing at the car door for a while, and seeing he hadn't moved, she asked in confusion, "Bernard, why aren't you getting in the car?"

"Let the driver take you back, I have something to do." With that, Bernard signaled the driver to close the door.

"Bernard, you..." Virginia wanted to say more, but the driver had already started the car.

Through the window, she saw Bernard walking towards the bus stop, and her expression darkened with anger.

Bernard actually handed her over to the driver and preferred to take the bus to leave with Christina.

Bernard, the pampered young master of the Mitchell family, had never taken a bus before!

Virginia's face turned increasingly livid, and she couldn't help but clench her fists tightly, "Christina!"

After sending Virginia off, Bernard walked towards the bus stop.

Afraid that Christina might get on the bus and leave first, he quickened his pace unconsciously.

"Bernard?" Seeing Bernard at the bus stop, Christina's feelings couldn't be simply described as shock, "Why did you come? Weren't you leaving with Virginia?"

Bernard stood beside her, looking out of place in his suit and tie among the crowd, and said coldly, "The driver is taking her to the crew."

"The driver is taking her? What about you?" Christina looked at his stance, seemingly not planning to leave, "You... you're not planning to take the bus with me, are you?"

Bernard turned to look at her and nodded, "Can't I?"

Christina looked around, leaned closer to him, and lowered her voice, "You're the president of the Mitchell Group, taking the bus doesn't really match your status, does it?"

Seeing her sneaky look, Bernard squinted, "Does the bus have a sign saying people of my status can't get on?"

"Of course not." Christina straightened up, not saying anything more about him taking the bus.

Actually, Christina was happy inside. His presence here at least proved he didn't care that much about Virginia.

After waiting for about ten minutes, the bus arrived, and they got on.

To Christina's surprise, the bus was quite crowded at this time, and they were almost squeezed onto the bus.

Christina was pushed into a corner and glanced at Bernard beside her.

He no longer had the composed look from earlier, his brows furrowed.

Christina lowered her head and chuckled, a bit schadenfreudely, and teased him softly, "Mr. Mitchell, now you know that our ordinary people's buses aren't that comfortable."

This was Bernard's first time taking a bus, and he didn't expect it to be so crowded, with barely any room to stand.

"Ah." Christina was pushed from behind and fell into Bernard's arms.

Christina's cheeks flushed, and just as she was about to stand up, she was pushed again from behind, making her unable to move, "Sorry about that."

Compared to her embarrassment, Bernard had a faint smile.

He steadied Christina in his arms and suddenly felt that the crowded bus wasn't so uncomfortable after all.

Christina leaned against his chest, listening to his strong heartbeat, and her cheeks couldn't help but turn red.

To stop her cheeks from getting hotter, Christina tried to stand up from his arms.

But it seemed like the bus was against her, as every time she tried to get out of Bernard's arms, someone would push her back.

She couldn't stand straight, and to avoid falling, she had to lean against Bernard the whole way. Bernard's hand gently held her shoulder, his actions particularly gentle.

After leaning against Bernard the whole way, by the time they got off, Christina's anger from Virginia's earlier actions had mostly dissipated.

The villa area where Bernard lived wasn't directly accessible by bus, so even though Christina chose the nearest bus stop, they still had to walk a bit.

Walking side by side, Christina felt the atmosphere was a bit awkward.

Not talking felt awkward, but she didn't know what to say if she did talk.

"Are you unhappy today?" After walking for a while, Bernard spoke first.

Caught off guard, Christina's face showed some embarrassment, but she didn't reveal her thoughts and chose to shake her head, "No, I signed a contract today and found a job, I'm quite happy."

"That's not what I meant." Bernard stopped and looked at her quietly, "I meant when Virginia showed up during dinner. Christina, if you're unhappy, you can tell me."

Christina also stopped and looked at him quietly, "Then, if I say I am unhappy, what will you do?"
