Chapter 642 You Were the Best
Katherine rolled her eyes. "Alright, if you're gonna be a hermit, just stay in your room and quit bugging me."
Frank, looking all needy like he only did with Katherine, piped up, "Katherine, I need a favor!"
Katherine shot him a look, already knowing this was gonna be a mess. "What now?"
Frank flashed a sheepish grin. "Can you talk to Teresa for me? She's ghosting me and seeing someone else. It's killing me."
Katherine shoved him away. "No chance. Remember when you had Teresa buy you those...toys? Did you care about her feelings then?"
Frank, looking guilty, mumbled, "I didn't know I liked her back then. Plus, you told me to turn her down."
Katherine's eyes blazed. "So now it's my fault? I told you to keep your distance, not to be a jerk!"
Frank waved his hands defensively. "My bad, I regret it. I didn't even use the stuff she got. Katherine, please help me out."
Katherine crossed her arms. "That's not happening. You just want what you can't have. Once you get it, you'll get bored. Are you really planning to marry Teresa?"
Frank's eyes were dead serious. "Yes! Please, help me get her back!"
Katherine had never seen Frank so determined about a girl. She didn't doubt his sincerity this time and thought for a moment. "I'll think about it."
Frank lit up, knowing that "I'll think about it" from Katherine usually meant yes. He hugged her neck and nuzzled her. "I knew you were the best, Katherine!"
Katherine couldn't stand him.
A sudden cough broke the moment between Katherine and Frank.
Frank straightened up and looked at the door, spotting Leander standing there with a stern look, staring at them.
"What's with the cough?" Frank raised an eyebrow, annoyed.
Leander said, "Mr. Perez, please keep your distance from Mrs. Melville."
Frank had already let go of Katherine, but hearing this, he hugged her again and nuzzled her. " Why?"
Leander's fists clenched, clearly pissed. "Mr. Perez, Mrs. Melville is pregnant and can't handle your hugs. For her health, let go of her!"
Frank thought that sounded fair and let go of Katherine, standing up. "Katherine, don't forget what you promised. I'm outta here."
Katherine rubbed her forehead. She just said she'd think about it.
As Frank left, he nudged Leander aside.
In the afternoon, Teresa showed up, and it was Leander who opened the door.
Teresa looked surprised. "Leander, what are you doing here? Wait, I know! Alex must be here to see Katherine, right? Where's Alex? I just got some chocolate for him and Katherine to share!"
Leander shook his head. "Teresa, Mr. Melville isn't here."
Teresa blinked, confused. "Then why are you here?"
Leander replied, "Mr. Melville asked me to stay and protect Mrs. Melville."
Teresa huffed. "What Katherine needs isn't this one-sided concern, but his company. Doesn't he get it? Whatever, I'll go see Katherine myself."
Ignoring Leander, Teresa grabbed the chocolate and headed to Katherine's room.
Leander sighed and sent a message: [Mr. Melville, you coming to see Mrs. Melville tonight?]
A few minutes later, Alex replied: [Did she ask for me?]
Leander texted back: [No, she didn't say anything.]
Alex's response was quick and cold: [Just keep an eye on her.]
Leander sighed again and replied: [Yes, sir.]
Just as he put away his phone, Teresa came out of Katherine's room, holding a few chocolate bars and handing them to him. "These are for you!"
Leander looked surprised. "For me? No need."
Teresa insisted, "Katherine asked me to give these to you. She said you've been standing at the door all day without eating or resting, so she asked me to bring you a chair and some food."
Teresa then ran to the dining table to get a chair and to the kitchen to grab some bread and water for him.
Leander felt a bit touched. Katherine clearly didn't want him there, yet she still cared.
Teresa added, "Katherine also said working for someone like Alex, a capitalist exploiter, must be tough for you!"
Actually, Alex paid him well and just didn't talk much. He never said Leander couldn't rest or eat. It was Leander himself who wasn't hungry, so he didn't go.
Taking the bread and water from Teresa, he said, "Thank Mrs. Melville for me."
Teresa looked at him sympathetically. "Eat up! Working for Alex must be tough. He's so harsh. I can't stand it even once! And you deal with it every day. If I were you, I'd quit."
Just then, Frank popped up. "Sharing something good without me?" He leaned in close to Teresa's ear and blew warm air behind it.
She immediately moved away. "Your share is with Katherine. Go get it yourself!"
Frank crossed his arms and grinned. "Leander is watching me and doesn't want me in Katherine's room. Can you get it for me?"
In the end, Teresa went to Katherine's room and brought out a few pieces of chocolate for him.
