Chapter 809 An Extremely Selfish Woman
George looked at the painting that had been taken back from him and stared at Linda in confusion. "Aunt Linda, you promised to give it to me. Why did you take it back?"
Linda rolled her eyes at him and said angrily, "I did promise to give you the painting, but I didn't say you could give it to your mommy, Sophia!"
She hated Sophia the most. That woman didn't deserve to have her teacher's painting!
George felt a bit wronged. "But my mommy isn't..."
Halfway through his sentence, George swallowed his words.
He couldn't reveal his true identity, or it would cause trouble for Trevor!
Never mind, he would find a way to get Katherine to buy the painting from Linda later!
Linda was still waiting for George to continue. "She isn't what?"
George shook his head. "Nothing, you're right. I shouldn't give the painting you gave me to her. I don't want the painting anymore. You focus on your homework; I'm going back to find my dad!"
Seeing George's disappointed look, Linda felt a bit guilty and called out to him, "Hey! Wait a minute."
George turned back. "Aunt Linda, what's up? Do you need something?"
Linda took the painting out of the folder and handed it to him. "Never mind, you can have it!"
George was surprised and took the painting, looking at her in confusion. "Are you really giving it to me this time?"
Linda nodded. "Yes! It's yours! Do whatever you want with it."
George smiled. "Thank you, Aunt Linda!"
Linda added, "I heard your dad is sick with a cold. You'd better not go back to him, or you might catch it!"
George didn't care. "It's fine, I'm very healthy and have a strong immune system! Aunt Linda, I'm leaving now!"
With that, he ran out with the painting.
Linda watched George's back, feeling more and more that he didn't seem like the Julian she remembered. It was really strange; they looked exactly the same, but somehow they seemed like two different people.
George ran out of Linda's room and bumped into Sophia, who was coming out of Brent's room.
Seeing George running towards the suite door, Sophia quickly stepped up to block him. "Why are you running so fast? Where are you going?"
George didn't like Sophia. As soon as he saw her, his face lost its usual cheerfulness and showed only blatant annoyance.
"I'm going back to find my dad!" George said seriously.
Sophia knew this boy was not the real Julian. With Trevor not around, she didn't bother to be nice to him.
"What are you holding? Let me see!"
George didn't want to show it to Sophia and hid the rolled-up painting behind his back. "It's a painting Aunt Linda gave me. I want to show it to my dad!"
Would Linda be so kind as to give a painting to her son?
Sophia felt something was off and impatiently reached out her hand. "What painting? Show it to me first!"
George frowned. "No, I want to show it to my dad first!"
Sophia directly grabbed George and forcibly took the painting from behind him, then pushed George aside and opened the painting to look at it.
But there was nothing unusual, just an ordinary landscape painting!
Having the painting taken away, George was furious and jumped up to try to get it back. Unfortunately, Sophia was much taller than him, and no matter how high he jumped, he couldn't reach it.
"Give it back! Give me my painting back!"
Sophia turned the painting over to look at the back but found nothing unusual.
However, seeing Katherine's child so angry made her feel quite pleased, and she deliberately didn't return it to him until George's shouting brought Brent, Nora, and Linda out.
"Sophia, what's going on? Why is Julian shouting?" Brent came out of the room, hands behind his back, and asked sternly.
Sophia smiled at Brent. "Dad, it's nothing! Julian insisted on running out by himself, and I stopped him, so he threw a tantrum!"
Nora looked at the anxious and sweaty George and waved him over with concern. "Julian, come here. Little kids shouldn't run out by themselves. I'll put on a cartoon for you to watch!"
George was very angry with Sophia. He didn't know Brent and Nora and didn't consider them his grandparents.
He didn't listen to Nora and kept jumping to reach the painting in Sophia's hand. "I don't want to watch cartoons! I want my painting, give me my painting back!"
Nora was helpless but not angry.
Brent, however, was a bit angry at George's disrespectful attitude towards elders and said, "This is the kind of child Trevor has raised, with no manners at all! Sophia, is Julian always like this with you?"
Sophia sighed with some grievance. "Dad, I'm used to it! But he isn't like this because of Trevor. Trevor is very strict with him, but Julian just doesn't listen. I don't know where he gets it from."
Sophia's words made Brent think of the kid's background, and he felt even more disdain.
Sure enough, he wasn't their blood; no matter how he looked at the kid, he was unpleasant!
At this moment, Linda stepped forward to speak for George. "I think Julian is quite well-behaved. He's not as unruly as Sophia says."
Sophia looked at Linda with hidden disdain in her eyes. "Linda, how long have you been with him? You haven't seen how naughty he usually is!"
Linda said, "I don't see it usually because you always keep Julian at home and don't let him interact with others. It's hard for me to see him. But I know why Julian is throwing a tantrum now. Isn't it because you took the painting I gave him? If you don't give it back, of course, he's anxious."
Hearing Linda's words, Brent and Nora noticed the rolled-up painting in Sophia's hand, which she was deliberately holding high so Julian couldn't reach it, while Julian kept jumping to try to get it.
Sophia looked at Linda and smiled. "Linda, why do you always misunderstand me? I didn't deliberately take Julian's painting and not return it. I was afraid the painting was something the child took from you without permission, so I wanted to return it to you."
Linda frowned, her dislike for Sophia deepening.
What kind of mother would suspect her own child of being a thief?
She used to think that because Sophia loved the man she had schemed to get, Trevor, she would also love Julian.
Now it seemed she had overestimated Sophia!
Sophia was inherently selfish, and even her love was tainted with selfishness.
