Chapter 923 Hard To Say
When Fiona received the news, she was out on a date with Nathan!
She got a call from home and rushed back with Nathan in tow. As soon as she entered, she excitedly hugged Katherine. "Katherine! Katherine! My brother is back, right? Is it true?"
Katherine was almost knocked over by her. Steadying herself, she replied, "Yes!"
Fiona's tears of excitement flowed freely. "He's really back! Where is he?"
Katherine said, "He's taking a shower! Let go of me first, I can hardly breathe. You'll see your brother soon!"
Realizing her actions, Fiona quickly released Katherine. "Sorry, Katherine, I was just too excited!"
She was so excited that she almost fell backward, but Nathan caught her just in time!
Nathan steadied Fiona and, feeling a bit embarrassed, said to Katherine, "Sorry, Katherine, she didn't mean to."
Nathan's words already showed he considered Fiona part of his family!
Katherine looked at the two of them, her expression showing a hint of elder-like kindness. She nodded, "It's okay, I'm used to it! Nathan, why don't you take her to the living room to sit for a while? I'll go to the kitchen to arrange dinner."
"Alright." Nathan nodded gentlemanly and then led Fiona to the living room.
Katherine went to the kitchen to add some dishes to the dinner menu, all of which Alex used to like. She also asked for two cups of coffee to be brought to Nathan and Fiona in the living room.
When Katherine returned to the living room, only Nathan was there; Fiona was nowhere to be seen.
Katherine naturally sat down on the sofa next to Nathan and asked, "Where is she?"
Nathan smiled helplessly, "She's impatient and couldn't wait, so she went upstairs to find her brother."
Katherine nodded, understanding Fiona's personality well.
Nathan took the coffee from the servant and smiled at Katherine. "Katherine, I'm so happy for you. Congratulations on finally reuniting with Mr. Melville!"
Katherine smiled softly, "Thank you. Once Alex sorts out his troubles, we can also arrange your and Fiona's wedding!"
Nathan blushed slightly and scratched his head in embarrassment, "Then I'll need you to put in a good word for me with Mr. Melville. I'm worried he might not be too thrilled about me becoming part of the family."
Katherine took a sip of coffee and smiled, "Don't worry, it's my decision, not his."
At that moment, Alex, having finished his shower and changed into his old clothes, came out of his room. Standing on the stairs, he could see Nathan and Katherine talking in the living room and noticed Nathan blushing at his wife.
Alex's expression turned unfriendly. He walked downstairs, went directly to Katherine's side, sat down, and put his arm around her shoulder, ignoring the guest. He spoke to Katherine, "Have you been waiting long?"
Katherine was a bit speechless at his behavior.
Why was Alex acting like this in front of a guest? It would make the guest feel awkward!
Katherine forced a smile and began to introduce, "This is my junior from school, and now also..."
Before Katherine could introduce Nathan as Fiona's boyfriend, Alex picked her up and placed her on his lap, holding her close.
Then, Alex glanced at Nathan and said in a cold tone, "Hi."
Nathan felt the intense threat and smiled awkwardly, "Hello, Mr. Melville."
After responding, Alex ignored him and looked down at Katherine in his arms, "I'm all clean now. Shall we go back to our room?"
Katherine thought, 'What? Why is he saying this in front of his future brother-in-law!'
Katherine pushed him hard, trying to break free from his embrace.
Alex didn't let go, and she couldn't break free. At that moment, the butler, Anton, returned!
"Ms. Galatea, I found what you were looking for!"
Hearing this, all three of them looked at Anton.
Anton was holding two large green leaves.
Katherine finally had a reason to make Alex let go, "Let me go, didn't you see what I asked for has arrived?"
Alex didn't know what she was up to but cooperated and let her go.
Katherine got up, took the leaves from Anton, and then turned around to pat Alex with them.
Alex was slightly taken aback but didn't avoid it because it didn't hurt.
After patting Alex for a while, Katherine handed the leaves back to Anton to dispose of.
Then she sat back in her original seat and said, "You just came back from a place where you were held captive. This is to ward off bad luck."
Alex smiled, "My wife is so thoughtful. Now that the bad luck is gone, can we go back to our room?"
Katherine twitched her mouth, thinking, 'Does he have anything else on his mind besides going back to the room? Nathan must feel so awkward!'
Nathan indeed felt awkward but was genuinely happy for Katherine. After waiting for three years, the person she had been waiting for was finally back.
He sensibly stood up, "Katherine, it seems you and Mr. Melville have things to do. I'll leave now. When Fiona comes down, please tell her I'll see her tomorrow."
Katherine felt a bit embarrassed seeing Nathan leave and tried to keep him, "Don't go, stay for dinner! We're available now. He was just joking, don't take it seriously!"
Alex's expression turned unfriendly again as he saw Katherine talking to Nathan, who once had feelings for her. He wrapped his arm around Katherine's waist from behind.
"Dinner is still a while away; we can indeed take care of some things first."
Hearing Alex's suggestive words, Katherine blushed and couldn't take it anymore. She leaned close to his ear and whispered, "He's Fiona's boyfriend now, your future brother-in-law! Can you be a bit more serious in front of him?"
Alex's eyes narrowed slightly as he re-evaluated Nathan. His tone remained serious but no longer hostile, "When did you two get together?"
Nathan, already standing to leave, sat back down properly, "Not long ago, it's a recent thing."
Alex raised an eyebrow, "What do you like about her?"
Nathan felt a bit uneasy, "It's hard to say."
Alex snorted, "Hard to say? Are you serious about this?"
Nathan's eyes were firm, "I'm serious about Fiona! Feelings are hard to explain! Mr. Melville, can you clearly say what you like about Katherine?"
