Chapter 681 Don't Want You to Be Exhausted
Outside the police station, Bernard, Sunny, Ambrosia, and Frank sat in their cars, waiting for Katherine to come out.
Sunny checked his sports watch, looking a bit antsy. "It's been an hour already. The statement should be done by now! Why hasn't Katherine come out yet? I'm going in to check!"
He reached for the car door, but Bernard stopped him. "Chill out! Stay put and don't go causing any trouble. Alex is in there. He won't let anything happen to Katherine."
Sunny didn't dare to argue with Bernard, so he shut the door and sat back, looking puzzled. "Bernard, since when do you trust Alex so much? Didn't you used to hate his guts?"
Bernard shot him a displeased look, and Sunny immediately shut up.
Ambrosia and Frank were in another car nearby, keeping an eye on the police station entrance.
Frank asked curiously, "Ambrosia, do you think Katherine will patch things up with Alex this time?"
Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses. "Whether they make up or not is up to Katherine. We just need to respect her decision."
Frank lazily propped his head on his hand and let out a meaningful sigh. "Now I get it. Katherine never really got over Alex. She cares so much that she couldn't handle being deceived by him. If something really happened to Alex, Katherine would probably go nuts and take revenge."
Ambrosia nodded in agreement, narrowing her eyes slightly.
Back when Katherine went all out against that guy, they'd never seen her lose control and go crazy for anyone like that.
"You should worry about your own stuff first!" Ambrosia raised her chin towards the window.
Frank looked over and saw a taxi pulling up to the police station entrance. Teresa got out first, followed by Anthony, and they walked towards the entrance together.
Seeing this, Frank got out of the car and walked over to block their way.
Teresa and Anthony were surprised to see Frank there.
Anthony bowed slightly, greeting his superior respectfully. "Mr. Perez."
Teresa frowned anxiously. "You're here too? Have you seen Alex? I heard he's okay, so I rushed over."
Frank nodded slightly to Anthony, then gently said to Teresa, "Don't worry, Alex is fine. Jackie and Sandra are here too. You should wait outside for them to come out."
Teresa grabbed Frank's arm excitedly. "You really saw Alex? Is he okay? Was he disfigured by the explosion?"
Frank reassured her, "Yeah, I saw him. He's fine, no injuries. Alex is inside with Katherine, and they're cooperating with the police. You'll see him when they come out."
Teresa's tense body relaxed. "It's good that he's okay. It's great that Alex and Katherine are both fine."
Frank nodded and gently patted Teresa's shoulder to comfort her. "Yeah, no need to worry anymore."
As Teresa's boyfriend, Anthony felt uncomfortable seeing his superior's behavior towards his girlfriend, but he couldn't directly express his displeasure.
So, he stepped forward and tried to comfort Teresa, "Teresa, it's great that Alex and Katherine are okay. You can relax now."
Teresa looked at Anthony and suddenly realized she had been standing too close to Frank. She quickly stepped back to put some distance between them.
Noticing her actions, Frank pursed his lips and smiled. Anthony put his arm around Teresa's shoulder. "Teresa, Mr. Perez is right. It's not a good idea for us to go in now. Let's wait outside. I saw a coffee shop not far from here. How about grab some coffee while we wait?"
Teresa wasn't in the mood for coffee, so she shook her head. "No, I can't drink anything right now."
Anthony, feeling a bit helpless, nodded. "Alright, then we won't get coffee. I'll stay here with you."
Frank narrowed his eyes slightly, looking at Anthony's hand on Teresa's shoulder, and asked softly, "Anthony, have you got the PowerPoint ready for tomorrow morning's meeting?"
Anthony paused for a moment. "Mr. Perez, I'll stay up late to finish it when I get back."
Frank said sternly, "Staying up late? Can you guarantee that the work you do overnight won't have any mistakes? Can you ensure that you'll be clear-headed enough to explain everything to the leaders at tomorrow's meeting? I don't need to tell you how important tomorrow's meeting is. I suggest you prioritize your work."
Anthony said worriedly, "Well..."
Teresa, hearing Frank's words, realized that Anthony had important work to do and quickly said understandingly, "Anthony, if you've got stuff to do, go back and get it done. You don't have to stay here with me."
Anthony hesitated, feeling a bit uneasy. "But..."
Teresa insisted, "Don't worry about me. I've confirmed that Alex is okay. When he comes out, he'll take me home."
Anthony looked at Teresa, still unwilling to leave.
Frank said, "Anthony, Teresa is quite considerate of your work. You should go back. Leave her to me."
Anthony looked at Frank, who was smiling at him, but he felt threatened.
If he left, Teresa might not choose him!
Thinking of this, Anthony decided to put his work aside. "Mr. Perez, I think it's better if I stay with Teresa. I appreciate your offer, but I'll finish my work before the meeting tomorrow morning. If anything goes wrong because of me, I'll take responsibility, and you can fire me."
Frank paused for a moment, then smiled, "What I mean is, this matter has nothing to do with you. You're an outsider here, and it's not appropriate for you to stay and listen."
Being called an outsider made Anthony feel awkward. Indeed, he had no role in this matter and couldn't intervene.
Teresa also felt that Frank's words were harsh, but she didn't want to argue with him now. She apologized to Anthony, "Anthony, listen to me. Go back and focus on your work. We don't know how long it will take for Alex and Katherine to come out. If you delay too long, you won't have time for your work, and I don't want you to stay up late and exhaust yourself."
