Chapter 663 What Do You Want to Say?

Alex squinted at the old, rundown industrial plant ahead.

The car finally pulled up at the factory entrance, and Alex stepped out.

The Mitchell mansion.

Bernard watched the kitchen staff prep and plate the Mexican food.

He personally brought out a plate of meatballs and called out, "Katherine, come and eat."

Katherine turned off the TV and headed to the dining room.

These days, she was getting hungry quickly—must be the baby!

After calling Katherine, Bernard told a servant to fetch Sunny from upstairs, who was still sulking in his room!

Knowing Bernard was back and calling him down, he didn't dare stay put, even if he was in a bad mood.

When he got to the dining room, the smell of the food hit him.

He wasn't hungry at first, but now he was starving!

Sunny sat down, grabbed a fork, and started mixing his dipping sauce. "Bernard, didn't you say Mexican food was unhealthy and banned it?"

Bernard's face darkened. "It's fine once in a while."

One glare from Bernard, and Sunny shut up. He smartly sat next to Katherine.

The Mitchell dining table was huge, with the Mexican food placed in the middle, out of reach.

So, Bernard sat next to Sunny and Katherine, and had the servants move the plates closer.

Bernard put two slices of beef in Katherine's dipping sauce bowl. "Katherine, I've arranged everything with the hospital. If you feel anything, let me know, and you can move in anytime for delivery."

"Thanks," Katherine said, focused on her food.

Bernard felt the distance. "No need to be so polite. I'm your brother."

Katherine pretended not to hear and kept eating.

Bernard sighed.

As they were eating, Billy walked in and whispered something to Bernard.

Bernard's eyes narrowed. "When did this happen?"

Billy looked serious. "Not sure yet, we just got the news."

Bernard put down his fork and looked at Katherine with a frown.

Sunny sensed something was up. "Billy, what's going on?"

Billy stayed silent.

Bernard shot Sunny a cold look. "None of your business. Just eat."

Sunny pouted and shut up.

Bernard wiped his hands with a napkin, then stood up. "Katherine, you and Sunny take your time. I have to go out."

Katherine nodded and kept eating.

Watching Bernard leave in a hurry with Billy, Sunny muttered, "What happened? Bernard didn't even finish his meal!"

Katherine glanced at him. "Mind your own business, kid."

Sunny shot back, "I'll say it again, I'm not a kid!"

Katherine ignored him. "If you don't eat the meat, I'll finish it all!"

"Who said I'm not eating? I'm eating!" Sunny started grabbing meat from the plate.

Mexican food was a rare treat, so he had to make the most of it!

Sunny was always under strict rules and never had much money. Bernard worried that too much cash would lead him astray.

He usually ate at the school cafeteria or at home. Bernard never let him eat fast food.

Only after meeting Ambrosia did he get to eat out more often!

It was kind of embarrassing that Ambrosia always paid for their dates.

He had no choice. He was broke and couldn't work yet.

But once he started earning, he'd buy Ambrosia all the nice things to make up for it!

After eating, Katherine wiped her mouth and headed upstairs for a shower.

Even with the AC on, Mexican food made her sweat.

Post-shower, she dried her hair and checked her phone out of boredom.

The money she sent to Alex still hadn't been accepted after two hours.

Katherine didn't want to owe him, so she sent a reminder to accept the money.

Once he did, she'd delete his contact info and be done with it.

But Alex still hadn't replied or accepted the money.

Katherine frowned. If he didn't accept it today, she'd remind him again tomorrow!

The painting had been moved to her room, leaning against the wall, not yet hung up.

Looking at her mom's self-portrait, childhood memories came flooding back.

Where was Lotus?

How had she been all these years?

If Lotus was still alive, why hadn't she come back for Katherine?

When they were separated, she was just a kid, and now she was about to become a mom herself.

Katherine gently stroked her belly, her expression softening. Soon, she'd meet her child.

Just then, her phone rang!

Katherine snapped out of her thoughts and saw it was a call from Teresa.

She was about to answer, but the call got canceled.

Feeling a bit strange and worried, she called Teresa back, but it was rejected.

She frowned, feeling uneasy, and tried calling several times, but all were rejected.

Worried, Katherine texted: [What's wrong? Is something the matter?]

After a while, Teresa replied: [Nothing, I dialed the wrong number. I'm outside, it's not convenient to talk!]

Katherine felt relieved and didn't press further.

She put down her phone, finished drying her hair, and went to bed early.

She slept early but had a night full of dreams—not nightmares, but exhausting dreams in which she was either running or searching for something.

When she woke up the next day, she didn't feel well-rested.

At breakfast, Katherine noticed Bernard seemed like he had something to say.

She frowned slightly and asked, "Mr. Mitchell, why are you looking at me like that? Do you have something to say?"
