Chapter 526 It's All Right

Billy felt immense pressure when he faced Vincent Mitchell's stern questioning. He hesitated to answer, "Mr. Mitchell. Bernard Mitchell, he and Katherine..."

Vincent glared, "You better tell the truth. If I find out you're trying to fool me, you'll be in big trouble!"

Billy felt he couldn't hide it any longer. Mr. Mitchell would find out sooner or later. He sighed helplessly, "Because. because Katherine, she is."

"Because she is Grandpa's lifesaver, the Mitchell family owes her." Bernard's voice cut in just in time, interrupting what Billy was about to reveal.

Vincent and Hellen turned to see Bernard returning to the where they were.

Billy also breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing Bernard. Under Vincent's pressure, he almost revealed Katherine's secret identity. That was close.

Bernard, leaning on his crutches, calmly approached Hellen and Vincent, then he handed over a bottle of medicine. "Grandpa, this is your blood pressure medication."

Vincent and Hellen remained silent.

Bernard, despite using crutches, moved quickly and brought the medicine back in no time.

In fact, Bernard hadn't fetched the medicine himself. He had been preoccupied with Katherine's condition and realized halfway that Hellen had intentionally sent him out.

So, he called the driver to bring the medicine in.

Vincent took the medication, scrutinizing Bernard with a probing gaze. Then he proceeded to question him, "Bernard, tell me the truth, is Katherine..."

Bernard seemed to know what Vincent was about to ask. Without letting him finish, he interrupted, "Grandpa, Grandma, don't overthink it. Katherine is a good girl who once saved your life. I will repay her kindness on your behalf. You both are tired; go home and rest."

With that, Bernard didn't give them a chance to ask further questions and turned to instruct Billy, "Billy, escort my grandparents to the hospital entrance and then come back. I have more tasks for you."

Billy nodded and obliged, "Yes, Mr. Mitchell!"

Hellen's eyes darkened with disappointment. She knew Bernard well; if he didn't want to talk about something, no one could pry it out of him.

They should just let go of the issue for now.

Hellen said with concern, "Bernard, your grandpa and I will head back now. Take care of your leg and make sure to recover properly. You're young; don't let it become a problem you'll regret later."

Bernard nodded and replied with a smile, "Don't worry, Grandma. I'll take care of myself."

Hellen felt a bit relieved hearing this. Then she shifted her attention to Vincent and said, "Vincent, let's go."

Vincent, though frustrated at not getting answers, had no interest in lingering in the 'morgue,' so he left with Hellen.

He would question Bernard thoroughly about Katherine's identity once they got home.

Billy drove Hellen and Vincent home.

Bernard's eyes darkened, and he lowered his gaze, deep in thought.

Hellen and Vincent seemed to have sensed something, but Katherine still didn't want to come home. If they knew her identity, they wouldn't let her stay with the Melville family.

The Mitchell family might cause Katherine a lot of trouble.

Bernard knew he hadn't been a good brother. The best he could do for Katherine now was to protect her and not cause her any more trouble.

Meanwhile, in the hospital's private room.

Sandra lay in bed, deeply asleep under the influence of a sedative, her brows tightly furrowed even in her sleep.

By the bedside, Jackie sat in a wheelchair, looking at Sandra with a heavy heart, worried about her condition.

Given the current situation, they could only keep Sandra from being agitated. When she was wakes up, she would still ask about Katherine.

Jackie let out a deep sigh as he brooded, 'Katherine was also unfortunate, dying so young.'

"Grandpa, how's Grandma doing?" a female voice came from behind Jackie while he was lost in thought while looking at Sandra,

Focused on Sandra, Jackie didn't pay much attention to the voice, thinking it was Fiona. "Your grandma will wake up in a while!" he said, turning to look at his 'granddaughter'.

However, the moment he saw the womanl behind him, Jackie was startled, his wheelchair rolling back a bit!

It was Katherine.

Katherine was wearing a blue-striped hospital gown with a bandage wrapped around her forehead. Her face was a bit pale, but her eyes were very bright, and she looked quite spirited.

'Is this a person or a ghost?' Jackie wondered.

Seeing Jackie startled, Katherine explained softly, "Grandpa, don't be afraid. I'm human!"

Realizing he overreacted, Jackie frowned in displeasure and scolded her, "What's going on with you, girl?"

Fiona stepped forward from behind Katherine and said, "Grandpa, there's a reason for Katherine's situation. It's a long story. I'll explain it to you at home. Katherine didn't mean to scare you and Grandma."

Jackie looked at Fiona, then at Katherine, who was alive. His gaze steadied, but he still grumbled, "What a troublemaker; there's no respite from the chaos!"

Katherine smiled gently, and apologized, "Sorry, sorry for worrying you."

Jackie's expression froze. He arrogantly raised his chin, covered in black and white stubble, turning his face away. "Who was worried about you? I'm worried Sandra might be scared of you!" he grumbled.

Katherine looked at Sandra, still asleep on the bed, her brows tightly knit, looking distressed.

Feeling a bit guilty, she walked over and held Sandra's hand, murmuring, "Grandma, it's me, Katherine. Don't worry; I'm fine."

Sandra seemed to hear her, her brows twitching before she slowly opened her eyes, her tired and worried gaze brightening, "Katherine, is it really you, Katherine? I thought..." her words trailed off, overwhelmed with emotion.

Seeing her grandmother awake, Katherine remained by the bed, letting Sandra see her more clearly. She reassured her, "Grandma, it's really me. I'm fine."

Sandra grasped Katherine's dainty hand, feeling the warmth of her skin, and finally relaxed a bit. Her gaze softened but quickly sharpened again, "Katherine, the baby..."

Katherine said, "The baby is fine too. We're both okay, so don't worry, Grandma."

Sandra finally breathed a sigh of relief, holding her granddaughter-in-law's hand as she tried to sit up.
