Chapter 716 Wake Me Up If He's Here
Katherine was about to say something, but Bernard gently placed a finger on her lips. "Alright, the most important thing for you right now is to rest. Don't think about anything else, or how will you have the energy to see the babies?"
Not giving Katherine a chance to respond, Bernard continued, "Ambrosia, stay here with her and let her get some more sleep. Frank, Ms. Harris, come with me. We shouldn't have too many people in the room since Katherine just gave birth."
No one had any objections. Those who needed to stay did, and those who needed to leave followed Bernard out.
The room quieted down. Ambrosia bent over to tuck Katherine in. "Katherine, try to get some rest. When you wake up, you'll see your babies."
Katherine was indeed exhausted, her eyelids heavy. "If Alex comes, make sure to wake me up."
Ambrosia's eyes showed a flicker of uncertainty, but she forced a reassuring smile. "Of course, don't worry about it."
Katherine murmured her assent and stopped fighting to stay awake, slowly closing her eyes to rest.
Outside the room, Bernard looked serious as he spoke to Frank and Teresa, "I can't leave the hospital. I've already sent people to look for Alex everywhere. Frank, you take some people and search as well. We must find that bastard and the boy before Katherine finds out!"
Frank nodded gravely. "Okay, I'll gather some people and start looking!"
Teresa said, "I'll head to the Melville mansion now to see if Alex has gone back there!"
Bernard nodded firmly. "If you find any trace of him, contact me immediately!"
"Understood!"
"Got it!"
With their instructions clear, the three of them quickly set off to take action.
Bernard stayed at the hospital, avoiding returning to the room so as not to disturb Katherine's rest. He went to the nursery and looked at the two babies in the incubators through the glass.
Thinking about the boy who wasn't receiving proper care made him furious.
No one had expected Alex to take the first child away without permission!
What on earth was he thinking?
Outside the hospital, Frank and Teresa split up.
Frank took people to search major transportation hubs, while Teresa took a cab straight to the Melville mansion.
At the Melville mansion, a servant led Teresa into the yard, where she saw Fiona watering flowers with Sandra.
Not wanting Sandra to know, Teresa casually greeted Sandra and then pulled Fiona aside to talk.
Fiona looked puzzled. "Why are you here? Is something wrong? Are you looking for me?"
Teresa shushed her and lowered her voice. "Fiona, has Alex come back?"
Fiona frowned in surprise. "Alex? He hasn't come back! Why?"
Teresa looked disappointed. "Are you sure?"
Fiona nodded firmly. "I'm sure! Alex hasn't come back! Even if he did, he would go to Katherine first, not come home! If you're looking for Alex, you should go to Katherine's place!"
Teresa sighed. "I just came from Katherine's place!"
Fiona sensed something was wrong. "What's going on? Is Katherine looking for Alex?"
Teresa cautiously glanced at Sandra, who was still focused on watering the flowers. She then whispered, "Katherine gave birth today, and then..."
"Really?" Fiona exclaimed excitedly, catching Sandra's attention.
Sandra looked over and frowned. "What are you talking about?"
Teresa quickly pinched Fiona to stop her from saying more and then laughed. "Nothing! We were talking about a game!"
Sandra nodded and lost interest.
Teresa then pulled Fiona further away and complained, "Why did you shout so loudly!"
Fiona looked confused. "Why not? Katherine giving birth is great news! The grandparents will be thrilled!"
Teresa sighed. "The problem is there's a situation. Alex took the newborn and disappeared, and we can't contact him!"
Fiona's eyes widened in disbelief. "Alex took the baby? How could that be? Is he playing some kind of joke on Katherine?"
Teresa said, "Alex wouldn't joke about this! The baby was premature, and it's triplets. The baby he took is in danger!"
Triplets! Fiona was surprised but quickly became serious. "Where's Katherine now? Does she know?"
Teresa shook her head. "Alex only took one baby. We've decided to tell Katherine she had twins for now. She hasn't noticed anything yet. We need to find Alex quickly and figure out why he took the baby! Premature babies are fragile, and taking one out is very dangerous! Fiona, do you have any idea where Alex might have gone?"
Fiona thought seriously for a moment, then shook her head helplessly. "I don't know! Alex never takes me with him or tells me where he's going. Should I ask my Grandma?"
Teresa quickly stopped her. "No! That would make things worse. She'd rush to the hospital to see Katherine and the babies, and we wouldn't be able to keep it a secret!"
Fiona was frustrated. "What should we do now?"
Teresa said, "There's no other way! If you have time, come with me to look for Alex! Let's start at his office!"
Fiona nodded. "Okay! I'll go with you! Let me tell my Grandma, and we'll leave!"
Teresa warned, "Don't let anything slip!"
Fiona replied, "I know!"
So, the two of them left the Melville mansion and headed to the Melville Group.
Sunny had just returned home when he heard that Katherine's water had broken and she was taken to the hospital. Worried, he rushed to the hospital!
He asked a nurse and found Katherine's room, knocking on the door.
Ambrosia opened the door.
Sunny, who had been anxious and worried, saw Ambrosia and his mood worsened.
