Chapter 440 Truly Disgusting Scarlett and Alice
Scarlett's attempt to play the victim failed miserably. She glared at Katherine, seething. "No, it's not like that. It's you, Katherine! You made up these lies to smear me! It's all your conspiracy! You want to harm me! I'll fight you to the end."
Losing control, Scarlett lunged at Katherine, desperate to strangle her for always ruining her plans.
Before she could touch Katherine, Alex grabbed her wrist roughly. "What do you think you're doing?"
Scarlett, terrified of Alex, broke down in tears. "Alex, don't believe her! Katherine's from a low-income family, and she's just trying to gain your favor by driving a wedge between us! Don't believe her!"
Alex looked disgusted but didn't want to lay hands on a woman. He let go of Scarlett with displeasure and turned to Bernard. "Aren't you going to do something about your precious sister?"
Bernard had been nearby. When Scarlett rushed at Katherine, he instinctively wanted to protect her, but Alex was quicker.
Scarlett was thrown a meter away by Alex, and her mental state crumbled further. She looked to Bernard for help. "Bernard, Katherine is slandering me, bullying me... Bernard, you have to stand up for me..."
Alice came over, supporting Scarlett with a heartache, and said indignantly, "Bernard, look at how Scarlett is being bullied! Aren't you going to do something? How can you let an outsider slander Scarlett like this?"
She knew that although Bernard didn't care much for her as a stepmother, he had always doted on Scarlett the most. He couldn't stand anyone laying a finger on her!
Bernard looked at Alice and Scarlett coldly. "You two really disgust me!"
This statement made both Alice's and Scarlett's hearts skip a beat.
Scarlett, with tears streaming down her face, threw herself into Bernard's arms. "Bernard, why don't you believe me..."
Bernard pushed her away without mercy. "Believe you? You've told so many lies and deceived so many people. Now that you've been exposed, aren't you ashamed?"
This time, Scarlett was pushed six feet away and almost fell to the ground.
From childhood to adulthood, she had never been treated so coldly by Bernard. She couldn't accept it at all!

Katherine looked away in disgust and turned her gaze to Sunny on the bed.
Sunny's face was pale and stricken as his beliefs had just shattered.
After listening for so long, even if he was slow, Sunny finally got it.
Scarlett had deceived Alex; she never saved him and had been faking illness for years.
Alice tried to harm Katherine by spiking her pomegranate juice with a miscarriage-inducing substance, but Sunny ended up drinking it and landed in the hospital.
His mom and sister were fakes, not the kind people he thought they were.
Katherine saw Sunny's young mind collapse and shook her head. "Sunny, take care of yourself and be smarter!"
Sunny snapped out of it, looked at Katherine, and frowned. He wanted to say something but felt ashamed of his mom and sister. He stayed silent.
"Alex, let's go," Katherine said, taking Alex's hand.
He held her hand, and they walked out together. They hadn't gone far when Scarlett grabbed Alex again. "Alex, don't go. Listen to me. Things aren't like Katherine said."
Katherine yawned, glanced lazily at Scarlett, and dug her ear without saying a word.
Alex turned to Scarlett, looking impatient. "I've done everything for you out of misplaced gratitude. You should be satisfied! If you bother Katherine again, I won't be so kind."
He shook her off coldly and walked out with Katherine.
Scarlett called out, "Alex..."
She wanted to chase after them, but Bernard grabbed her. "Enough! What do you want to chase after them for? Have some self-respect!"
Scarlett lost it, breaking down. "Bernard, believe me! This is all Katherine's conspiracy. That bitch did everything to steal Alex from me..."
Bernard's face darkened at the word "bitch." "What did you say?"
Scarlett, unable to contain her anger, repeated, "Bernard! I said I'm innocent! Everything that happened today is because of that bitch Katherine..."
A hard slap landed on Scarlett's face, leaving no room for mercy.
"Watch your mouth!" Bernard warned sternly.
Scarlett's ear buzzed from the slap, and her hair was disheveled. She looked at Bernard in disbelief, covering her burning cheek and crying. "Bernard, you actually hit me. You hit me for Katherine? You used to spoil me the most, and now you're treating me like this for Katherine..."
Bernard felt his sister was unrepentant and despicable, not worth any pity. "I don't have time to deal with you right now. Reflect on your problems!"
With that, Bernard strode out the door.
