Chapter 705 Lucky Him!

Brent sneered, "Don't worry, I've been in the gang for years. My word still counts!"

Alex discreetly ended the call in his pocket and gave Brent a faint smile. "Alright, Mr. Coleman, let's get it started."

Given the current situation, Alex had no intention of becoming his son-in-law. Brent rubbed his hands together, showing no mercy.

"This is your choice. Don't say I didn't warn you," Brent said.

Alex handed his coat to Leander. "Wait for me outside."

Leander, clearly worried, advised, "Mr. Melville, Brent's known for his strength. If you take a hundred hits from him, you could die!"

Alex didn't even flinch, showing no intention of changing his mind. "If she calls again, tell her I'm fine and already asleep."

Leander furrowed his brows in concern. "Mr. Melville..."

Ignoring Leander's further advice, Alex calmly walked up to Brent. "Go ahead. I'm ready."

Brent flexed his wrists and swung the stick down hard without any mercy.

Alex let out a muffled groan but stayed standing.

The first hit landed on Alex's back, causing intense pain and sweat to bead on his forehead.

Leander didn't leave; he had never seen Alex get beaten and wanted to intervene. "Mr. Melville..."

Alex commanded coldly, "Don't come over. Get out!"

Leander froze for a moment, then, for the first time, disobeyed Alex's order. He rushed over to protect him, but Brent's men intercepted him, leaving Leander to watch helplessly.

Brent swung the stick hard again.

The second hit landed on the back of Alex's knee, causing him to almost collapse from the pain.

Before his knee touched the ground, Alex clenched his fists, gritted his teeth, straightened his leg, and forced himself to stand up, determined to endure.

Then came the third hit, the fourth, the fifth...

No one knew how many hits had been delivered when Sophia suddenly burst in, her face a mix of shock and heartbreak. She threw herself at the already fallen Alex. "Alex! Dad! What are you doing?"

Alex lay on the ground, his leg bone broken, covered in bruises, with blood at the corner of his mouth.

Without even looking at Sophia, Alex stared at Brent with a calm and resolute gaze, his voice trembling from pain. "Ten more hits. Please, continue."

After ninety hits, Brent's anger had mostly subsided. But seeing Alex's defiant look, his eyes narrowed, and he couldn't help but admire Alex's unyielding determination.

"Fine," Brent muttered. "As you wish."

As Brent raised the stick again, Sophia quickly stepped in and spread her arms to shield Alex. "Dad, stop! You can't hit him anymore!"

Brent frowned and snapped at Sophia, "Sophia, move aside! Let me deal with this jerk. We'll find you someone better later!"

Sophia shook her head vigorously, tears streaming down her face, refusing to get up. "Dad, you promised me you would talk to Alex properly! Why are you hitting him? You'll kill him! If he dies, I don't want to live either!"

Brent, seeing his daughter so distraught, was deeply dissatisfied. "Do you really think he cares about you? He's willing to take a hundred hits from me rather than take responsibility for you! Why keep him around? If you do, he'll just go back to Katherine!"

Sophia didn't care about any of that now; she knew Brent's temper, and if this continued, Alex would really die!

"Dad! If you insist, hit me first!" Sophia stood defiantly in front of Alex.

Brent looked at Sophia, her determination clear in her eyes. He couldn't bring himself to raise the stick. With a heavy sigh, he dropped it and said, "Sophia, you're nothing like me... Fine, I'll let Alex go."

At this moment, Alex propped himself up with his arm, struggling to rise a bit, and said firmly and coldly, "Mr. Coleman, are you too tired to continue? There are still ten hits left. Finish them!"

Brent was about to drop the stick when he heard Alex's fearless provocation, and his anger flared up again!

Did Alex really think he wouldn't dare to kill him?

Gripping the baseball bat tightly again, Brent said fiercely, "Sophia, move out of the way! He's so dead!"

Seeing Brent was furious and couldn't be persuaded, Sophia quickly turned to Alex. "Alex, don't provoke my dad right now. He could really kill you!"

Alex remained unmoved and impatiently told Sophia, "Get out of the way."

Sophia, on the verge of tears, pleaded, "Alex! My dad has a terrible temper. Please, stop provoking him! Do you have a death wish? I'm begging you."

Alex didn't even look at her, provocatively staring at Brent. "Come on!"

Brent was also enraged beyond tolerance and signaled his men to take Sophia away!

Several men came over, ignoring Sophia's struggles, and pulled her away.

As soon as Sophia was removed, Brent swung the stick with all his might, hitting Alex heavily!

Alex fell to the ground, spitting out a mouthful of blood!

Sophia screamed in despair, "Dad! Enough! Are you trying to kill him? If you hit him again, I'll never speak to you again!"

Brent, although very fond of Sophia, couldn't be stopped when he was this angry!

Ignoring Sophia's cries, he continued to swing the stick at Alex.

Until Sophia's screams brought Brent's current partner, Nora, over.

Nora came in with a little girl and saw the horrific scene in the gym!

Nora shouted loudly, "Cole, stop it, what are you doing?"

Brent saw Nora and Linda come in, and with a few hits left, he paused and said to Nora, "Nora, stay out of this! I'm going to beat him to death. How dare he break my daughter's heart? Do they really think I won't mess with the Melville family?"

Nora frowned and came over, directly snatching the baseball bat from his hand. "Cole! What are you thinking? Have you forgotten what you promised me? Do you still want to give me a stable life?"

Brent remembered his promise and was momentarily speechless, not fighting Nora for the bat.

Nora didn't wait for a response and immediately ordered, "Someone, get a doctor here for Mr. Melville!"

Brent sighed in frustration. "He's lucky this time."
