Chapter 999 It's Really Nothing!
Cheryl turned around and called a journalist she knew. "I have some explosive news about the president of the Rojas Group. Do you want it?"
"How explosive?"
"Let's talk in person."
No one noticed Cheryl's arrival or departure.
The shoot went smoothly and wrapped up after three hours.
"Ms. Russell, today's shoot was for static promotional photos. We still need to shoot some promotional videos later. We need to schedule another time with you."
Originally, these promotional videos were usually shot on the same day, but Ruben had instructed not to tire Christina out and to schedule another time for the video shoot.
The staff naturally followed Ruben's instructions.
Christina nodded, "Okay, let's add each other on social media and schedule a time later."
"Alright." The staff took out their phone and added Christina as a friend.
As Christina was about to leave, Ruben called out to her again.
"Christina, let me drive you home."
Christina hadn't figured out how to explain this to Bernard yet. If he saw Ruben driving her home, he would definitely get angry.
After hesitating for a moment, Christina shook her head, "No need, Ruben. I'll just take a cab home. It's really convenient."
"How can I let you take a cab alone? Christina, you've helped me so much. The least I can do is treat you to a meal!" Ruben said with a smile, not giving her a chance to refuse, "It's just a meal, Christina. Please don't say no."
Christina, feeling helpless, nodded and agreed since Ruben had put it that way.
Then, the two left the company together, and Ruben took her to a restaurant.
Standing at the entrance, Christina suddenly realized that this was the place Ruben had brought her to during high school.
"I didn't expect it to still look the same after all these years."
Meanwhile.
"Dad! Come out and see this!" Cheryl shouted as she entered the house.
"What's going on?" Renee ran out of the kitchen upon hearing the commotion.
Seeing Renee's face reminded Cheryl of Christina, and she glared at her before heading to the study.
Pushing open the study door, she found Jared inside.
"Dad!" Cheryl walked in, both coquettish and angry, "You need to do something about Christina!"
Jared was dealing with company matters and looked displeased at her storming in, "Didn't she already sever ties with us? We don't need to bother with her anymore!"
Ever since Christina gave them three million dollars, Jared had considered her no longer his daughter and had no interest in her affairs.
"Dad, I don't want anything to do with her either, but she's trying to steal my job now!"
Cheryl, looking aggrieved, told Jared what had happened over the past few days, "She deliberately scratched my face, preventing me from shooting the ad, and then she went and shot the ad herself! Dad, she did it on purpose!"
Jared's expression turned stern, "What? Christina dared to steal your ad? Wait, when did she start doing ads?"
"How would I know when she started? Dad, I think she's been planning to go against me and won't let us off! If you don't teach her a lesson this time, she'll only get worse!" Cheryl was furious, her eyes red, looking as if she had suffered a great grievance, "Dad, I have a way to teach her a lesson, but I need your help!"
Jared looked at her suspiciously, "What's your plan?"
"Well..." Cheryl leaned in and whispered her plan to Jared. Jared nodded in agreement and told Cheryl to go ahead.
Christina and Ruben had a pleasant meal at a restaurant near their high school, reminiscing about old times. Christina felt much more at ease.
After the meal, Ruben offered to drive Christina home again, but she refused.
"Sorry, Ruben. I know you mean well, but Bernard doesn't like me getting too close to other men. He might misunderstand if he sees it. I'll just take a cab home."
Hearing this, Ruben didn't insist. He accompanied her to get a cab and watched her leave.
After she left, Ruben walked alone to the high school entrance.
Looking at the familiar campus, he felt a mix of emotions.
Was it true that some things, once missed, could never be recovered?
Christina took a cab home and saw Bernard sitting in the living room with a dark expression as soon as she entered.
Why was he home today?
Christina wasn't used to him being home and walked in slowly, "Bernard, why are you home today?"
"Where did you go?" Bernard asked coldly, his voice terrifyingly icy.
Christina felt guilty. If she told him the truth, Bernard would definitely get angry.
She decided not to tell him for now.
"I just went out for a walk. Why?" Christina pretended to be calm and sat on the sofa.
Bernard looked at her coldly, as if trying to see through her, "Christina, I'll ask you again. Where did you go?"
His gaze made Christina nervous, her back feeling cold. She unconsciously avoided his eyes, "I really just went for a walk. What's the matter?"
"Fine." Bernard snorted coldly and threw an iPad in front of Christina, "See for yourself!"
Christina, feeling puzzled, picked up the iPad.
It was a news page with several photos of her and Ruben together, captioned #Famous Ad Company President and Spokesperson's Indecent Relationship Exposed!#
Christina's eyes widened in shock. She scrolled down to see the comments, which were all very harsh.
[I've never seen this spokesperson before. No wonder she got such good resources right after debuting!]
[Turns out she has someone backing her.]
[Using improper relationships to get ahead and stealing others' resources. I won't buy anything she endorses!]
[I heard the original spokesperson wasn't her. She suddenly replaced them. So it was because of this improper relationship!]
"What... what's going on? Who took these photos!" Christina looked at Bernard in panic, "Bernard, don't believe it! It's not what it looks like. Let me explain."
"The photos are so clear. What is there to explain? I was only away for a few days, and you couldn't wait?" Bernard had no patience to listen to Christina's explanation and got up to leave.
"Bernard, Wait." Christina dropped the iPad and quickly grabbed his hand, "It's really not like that. The photos are misleading. Ruben and I didn't do anything! I was just... just shooting an ad for his company!"
