Chapter 399 Do You Want Me Bathe You
Alex crouched down, just below Katherine, who was sitting on the bed. He looked up at her with a devoted gaze. "No."
Katherine asked again, "What if they threaten you to break up with me?"
Alex chuckled. "No one can threaten me except you."
Katherine pouted. "What can I threaten you with? Men are all liars!"
Alex got serious. "Honestly, if I knew you were from the Mitchell family from the start, I wouldn't have approached you. But now, I'm not letting you go."
Katherine was stunned. She saw stars in his eyes and felt like kissing him, but knew it wouldn't stop there.
She stayed clear-headed. "Alex, I told you! I need to shower."
Alex softly offered, "Tired today? Want me to help?"
Katherine frowned, looking at him like he was a big bad wolf. "No way! Don't even think about it!"
Alex watched her head to the bathroom, smiling. "Walk slowly; don't slip."
"Got it!" Katherine quickly closed and locked the bathroom door to keep him out.
Alex looked out the window, a complex expression on his face.
The next day, Katherine was woken by a phone call. Groggily, she answered, "Hello?"
"Is this Katherine?" An elderly male voice asked.
Katherine, puzzled, replied, "Hello, who is this?"
The older man chuckled. "Katherine! It's me, Mr. Vincent Mitchell!"
Katherine was stunned, then woke up. "…Bernard's grandfather?"
Vincent warmly said, "Yes, yes, it's me! Just call me Grandpa. No need to be formal!"
Katherine never liked the Mitchell family much. Out of politeness, she asked, "Sir, what can I do for you?"
Vincent invited her. "Katherine, do you have time to come over for a meal today? We met in a hurry yesterday, and I didn't get to host you properly. If you're free, come over. I want to thank you for saving my life!"
Katherine politely declined. "No need! What I did was just a small favor. You don't need to trouble yourself. I won't come."
Vincent insisted, "It was more than a small favor. I have high blood pressure. Without your help, I might have fainted from anger. If you don't accept my gratitude, I'll feel uneasy. Come have a meal, good girl!"
"Sir,you're not setting me up on a blind date, are you? I have a boyfriend and no intention of changing that," she said.
Vincent, caught, cleared his throat. "No, no, just a meal. I really want to thank you properly, and Mrs. Mitchell wants to thank you in person too!"
Katherine thought for a moment. "When?"
Vincent quickly replied, "Anytime today!"
If she went during the day, Bernard wouldn't be home, and Scarlett would be busy with the sick child. It might be a good chance to find clues about her mother's wrongful accusation.
Thinking this, Katherine agreed. "Sir, I don't need any thanks, but since you and Mrs. Mitchell are so kind, it would be rude not to come. I'll visit you both."
Vincent was thrilled. "Great! I'll send a car to the Melville family to pick you up soon!"
Katherine responded calmly, "Alright."
After hanging up, she saw a message from Alex: [Remember to have breakfast when you wake up.]
Katherine smiled and replied: [Alex, you're so naggy!]
After washing up and changing clothes, she went downstairs and saw everything was clean and tidy.
Anton approached respectfully. "Ma'am, you're awake. Your breakfast is ready. Please eat while it's hot."
Katherine nodded and walked to the dining room, asking, "Anton, who cleaned up downstairs?"
Anton replied, "Ms. Melville. She didn't sleep all night and cleaned up everything. I was surprised to see it so clean this morning. Since it was her first time doing housework, there were some missed spots, so I had someone clean it thoroughly again."
Fiona, afraid of being scolded by Alex, turned her fear into motivation and figured out how to clean up herself.
Katherine was satisfied. "Where is she now?"
Anton answered, "She went back to her room to sleep this morning. She must be exhausted."
"Let her sleep as long as she needs," Katherine said as she sat down to eat. "By the way, Anton, I have to go out after breakfast. There will be a package delivered later. It's a gift for Ms. Melville. Give it to her when she wakes up."
"Yes, ma'am."
Anton nodded, feeling a bit emotional. Katherine giving Fiona a gift meant their relationship might improve. This was a good thing!
Before Katherine finished breakfast, a servant came in to report, "Anton, there's a car outside saying it's here to pick up Mrs. Melville."
Anton looked at Katherine in confusion. "Mrs. Melville, what's this about?"
Katherine put down her knife and fork, gently wiping her mouth with a napkin. "Yes, it's here to pick me up."
Anton was worried. "Ma'am, if you need to go somewhere, the family can send a car. Who is the car from?"
Katherine reassured him. "Don't worry, I've told Alex where I'm going and who I'm meeting. He knows everything. He'll pick me up tonight, so don't worry."
Anton nodded. "That's good. Please be safe."
"I will!"
Katherine then went out and got into the luxury car the Mitchell family had sent.
