Chapter 1026 The Relationship with Curtis
"Which makeup artist is this unprofessional?"
Curtis hadn't even entered the makeup room yet, but his displeased voice had already come through.
He pushed the door open angrily, "Do you know that we're all waiting for Christina? The entire crew is waiting for you to find this eyeshadow palette?"
The makeup artist was already anxious from not being able to find the palette, and Curtis's words made her even more upset, "But Mr. Caldwell, this is the palette we use for the final look. If we can't find it, the effect will be different."
"So everyone has to wait for you to find this palette?" Curtis was even angrier, "Do you know how much it costs the crew every day?"
Being yelled at, the makeup artist's tears started to fall.
Seeing that the two were about to argue, Christina quickly stepped forward to comfort the makeup artist, "Mr. Caldwell is just too anxious. If the palette is lost, we can buy another one nearby."
The makeup artist already didn't like Christina, and now she was being scolded because of her. She pushed Christina away, "This palette is a limited edition, you can't buy it outside. I had to pull a lot of strings to get it, and now it's lost."
At this moment, Virginia walked through the crowd and came to Curtis's side, "Mr. Caldwell, don't be angry. The makeup artist is definitely anxious about losing the palette, it wasn't intentional."
Her eyes kept glancing at Christina's bag. Taking advantage of everyone's distraction, she reached behind and tugged at the bag.
The bag fell to the ground, and a round box rolled out.
The sound of the fall attracted everyone's attention.
"This..." The makeup artist stared at the box on the ground, feeling it was very familiar. She walked over, picked it up, "Isn't this my lost palette? How did it end up in this bag?"
The makeup artist picked up the bag from the ground and held it up in front of everyone, "Whose bag is this?"
"Now that it's found, hurry up and do the makeup so we can start shooting." Curtis was very anxious, only wanting to quickly finish Christina's makeup and start shooting.
The makeup artist, already upset from being yelled at by Curtis, was not willing to let this go now that the palette was found, "Mr. Caldwell, the palette being hidden in this bag means it wasn't lost, but someone took it and tried to steal it."
The makeup artist held up the bag again, "The owner of this bag is the thief. Whose bag is this?"
Seeing that she was determined to pursue this matter, Curtis sighed helplessly, "Whoever it is, admit it quickly, don't waste everyone's time."
Christina, who had been silent, slowly raised her hand, "This bag is mine, but I didn't take that palette."
"So it was you!" The makeup artist frowned, looking at her disdainfully, "But it's understandable. You're a new actress, haven't seen much of the world. It's not surprising you'd want to take such a good palette."
"Christina?" Curtis couldn't believe Christina would secretly take the palette. After all, she was Mrs. Mitchell of the Mitchell family. What limited edition palette couldn't she get? Why steal a used one, "Christina, have you always left your bag here?"
Christina nodded, "My bag has always been here. Anyone can come in and put the palette in my bag. I was in the director's lounge listening to Mr. Caldwell talk about the scene, I never came back."
"So you're saying someone framed you?" The makeup artist scoffed, clearly dismissive. "Have you been watching too many TV dramas? You think everyone is out to get you? Who do you think you are?"
Christina felt she couldn't explain anything to the makeup artist in front of her, no matter what she said, she wouldn't listen, "Think about it calmly. If I really wanted to steal the palette, would I put it directly in my own bag?"
"Alright, the palette definitely wasn't taken by Christina. Since we have it now, let's hurry up and do the makeup." Curtis knew her identity, but Bernard had instructed not to make a big deal out of it, so he could only try to downplay the situation.
The makeup artist, feeling even more uncomfortable with Curtis's favoritism towards Christina, decided to speak her mind, "Mr. Caldwell, what is your relationship with Christina?"
Curtis was stunned by the question, "What do you mean? Christina and I have a professional relationship, a working relationship. What else could it be?"
"No relationship? Who would believe that?" The makeup artist sneered, "She's a new actress, never acted before, not a professional actress. How did she land the lead role in such a major project on her first try?"
This question had arisen among the staff ever since Christina was cast.
After all, even Virginia had failed to get the role, and it ended up with Christina, a complete newcomer. Anyone would find it strange.
But since Curtis personally made the decision, no one dared to speak up.
Now that someone had spoken, everyone started whispering.
Christina looked around and saw everyone giving her strange looks.
In their eyes, Christina was no longer seen as innocent. She had become a woman who got the role through improper means.
Seeing this, Virginia, who had been acting as a bystander, had a satisfied smile on her face.
Originally, she just wanted everyone to think Christina was a thief and dislike her.
Unexpectedly, the makeup artist, with a little push, had said what others didn't dare to say.
Christina was now seen as a newcomer with an improper relationship with Curtis. Virginia wanted to see how Christina would turn things around.
Christina stood there, enduring everyone's scrutinizing gaze, and after a long silence, she spoke, "I didn't take your palette, and I have no improper relationship with Mr. Caldwell."
"I've said many times, Christina got the role through her own efforts. The whole casting process was known to the company and my assistant, don't speak nonsense." Curtis, although unable to reveal Christina's identity as a wealthy family's wife, couldn't let the slander about their relationship continue.
If Bernard found out, he might send people to dismantle the crew.
"Really? The company and your assistant are your people, would they tell the truth? Would they dare offend you, the boss?" The makeup artist sneered, "Of course, they would choose to help you cover it up!"
