Chapter 839 I Found Him!

If it weren't for what Edwin did back then, Claire and Katherine wouldn't have left home and wouldn't be having such a hard time!

Bernard comforted Vincent and Hellen, but his tone carried a hint of sarcasm, "Dad has been living just fine all these years; there's no reason he'd suddenly lose it now. Don't worry, I'll bring him back safe and sound."

After saying this, Bernard turned his head to the two officers and thanked them for their hard work, then calmly walked upstairs.

Hellen and Vincent saw Bernard's indifference and exchanged glances, both feeling a bit ashamed.

It was the two of them who had driven Claire away back then. Although Bernard never said anything, he must have held a grudge against them.

Edwin had developed severe psychological issues after Claire left, relying on medication to function normally.

At that time, Edwin was in his prime, but his mental illness prevented him from managing the company, leading Bernard to take over at an early age.

Hellen and Vincent thought that all the family's misfortunes began after Claire left with Laura!

After going upstairs, Bernard threw his coat on the sofa and took out his phone to call Sunny.

Sunny answered the phone while cuddling with Ambrosia in bed. Seeing it was Bernard calling, he didn't dare ignore it. Clearing his throat to sound more serious, he said, "Bernard, what's up? It's late; I'm not coming home to sleep tonight!"

Bernard said sternly, "Get back here immediately!"

Sunny was a bit reluctant, "What's the matter, Bernard? I'm an adult now; it's okay to stay out occasionally!"

Bernard replied, "Dad is missing! Get back here and help find him!"

Hearing this, Sunny sat up abruptly, "What?"

Bernard had no patience to explain over the phone, "If you're not home within half an hour, don't bother coming back ever again!"

"Bernard, I'm leaving right now! I'll be there soon." Before Sunny could finish, he heard the call disconnect.

Sunny quickly got out of bed, picked up his clothes, and hurriedly put them on.

Ambrosia, seeing this, lay on her side in bed and squinted at him, "What's wrong? Did something happen?"

While putting on his clothes, Sunny said, "Bernard called and said my dad is missing. I need to go back and check!"

Ambrosia was stunned and sat up to get dressed, "I'll drive you."

Sunny, now dressed, walked to the bed and pushed Ambrosia back down, reluctantly caressing her cheek, "It's okay, I'll go back myself. It's late; you should sleep. I'll come back to you once I find my dad!"

Ambrosia frowned, worried about him driving in such a hurry.

Sunny firmly pressed her down, "Be good! Go to sleep!"

Ambrosia gave up struggling and rolled her eyes at him.

Sunny smirked, "Goodnight, Ambrosia!"

With that, he stood up and left.

Ambrosia leaned lazily against the headboard, lost in thought. 'What's going on? Edwin is missing?'

The Mitchell Mansion.

When Sunny rushed home, the officers had already finished questioning and left.

The house was in chaos, with servants searching everywhere.

He quickly entered the house and saw Hellen and Vincent looking worried in the living room.

"Grandpa, Grandma, haven't you found my dad yet?"

Vincent and Hellen looked up, their eyes brightening at the sight of Sunny, but they shook their heads helplessly.

Hellen said, "No, we still can't reach him."

Sunny frowned, "Did you call the police?"

Vincent replied, "The police just left. They said they can't file a report until he's been missing for 48 hours."

Sunny grew anxious, "Where's Bernard?"

Mentioning Bernard, Hellen and Vincent sighed, "Bernard is upstairs. Go ask him if his people have found any clues."

Sunny didn't even respond before rushing upstairs.

He knocked on Bernard's door and quickly got a response, "Come in!"

Only then did he dare to push the door open, "Bernard, what's the situation now? Have your people found Dad?"

Bernard was sitting on the sofa smoking, filling the room with smoke.

Sunny coughed a few times, uncomfortable, "Bernard, you rarely smoke. What's going on today? Bernard, why aren't you saying anything? Have your people found Dad?"

Bernard looked up at the just-returned Sunny and said, "I didn't send anyone to look for him."

Sunny was stunned, "What? You didn't send anyone to find Dad! Bernard, why? The servants have searched everywhere and haven't found him. He must not be at home; you need to send people out to look!"

Bernard took a drag of his cigarette, exhaled a puff of smoke, and said, "Go to his room. There's a hidden door behind the bookshelf. Pull the seventh book on the third shelf from the left, and the door will open. See if he's in there."

Sunny looked surprised; it was the first time he'd heard of a hidden door in the house.

Without asking more, he followed Bernard's instructions!

Bernard watched Sunny leave and continued smoking silently, looking exhausted.

A few minutes later, Sunny's voice came from outside, "Dad is here; I found Dad!"

Bernard heard the commotion outside but remained unmoved, just looking up at a painting hanging above his bed, a sketch Claire had drawn before she left.

Downstairs, the servants heard Sunny's shout and rushed upstairs!

Vincent and Hellen also stood up excitedly and, with the help of their attendants, went upstairs to see what was happening.

Upstairs, in Edwin's room, people found Edwin, dead drunk, in a hidden compartment.

Edwin lay slumped on the floor, surrounded by empty bottles, the smell of alcohol heavy in the air. He was completely unconscious.

Vincent and Hellen, seeing Edwin, first breathed a sigh of relief, then quickly became worried again and said, "Hurry! Get him some hangover medicine!"

"Sunny, carry your dad out and lay him on the bed outside! This little room is too small and stuffy; he might suffocate!"

Sunny nodded.

He bent down, picked up the drunken Edwin, and quickly placed him on the big bed outside!

Then, Sunny asked in confusion, "Grandma, how come there's a hidden compartment in my dad's room? I never knew about it. Did you?"
