Chapter 621 Speaking Sarcastically
Alex's eyes were dripping with sarcasm as he sneered, "Ms. Galatea, you can play with your life, but don't mess around with the kid in your belly!"
Katherine swatted his hand away with a smirk. "Mr. Melville, you're being dramatic. Since when does munching on a carrot cause a miscarriage?"
Alex pulled back, his gaze icy and piercing.
Katherine couldn't stand his stare and got up. "Excuse me, I feel a bit queasy. Gonna hit the restroom."
Without waiting for a reply, she walked off.
Watching her leave, Teresa turned to Alex. "Alex, what was that about? You just pissed Katherine off!"
Alex's face was stone-cold, eyes narrowed as he watched her walk away, saying nothing.
With her baby bump, Katherine moved slowly and hadn't reached the restroom when she bumped into Fiona and Sandra.
"Grandma, look, it's really Katherine," Fiona, clinging to Sandra's arm, called out excitedly.
Hearing her name, Katherine stopped and turned around. Seeing Sandra being supported by Fiona, she was momentarily stunned but then forced a smile. "Grandma."
After being apart for so long, Sandra's eyes were already a bit teary as she stepped forward and grabbed Katherine's hand, looking worried. "Katherine, where have you been these past six months? I've been worried sick about you every day!"
Katherine replied, "I went to a place with beautiful scenery and have been doing just fine."
Sandra sighed. "Where's this beautiful place? You're eight months pregnant, but you don't look great. It breaks my heart thinking about you out there all alone."
Katherine explained, a bit exasperated, "Grandma, I've been doing really well on my own."
Sandra didn't seem to hear her and kept holding her hand, fussing over her.
Katherine didn't want too much to do with the Melville family, but she couldn't be cold to Sandra, so she listened for a bit. Meanwhile, she felt an unfriendly gaze on her as Sophia walked up and extended a hand. "Ms. Galatea, I've heard a lot about you. This isn't our first meeting, is it?"
From Katherine's posture, Sophia figured out she was the Moon from yesterday.
Katherine looked at Sophia and decided there was no point in hiding. She smiled. "Yep, we meet again."
She only responded to Sophia's words and didn't shake her hand.
Sophia's hand hung awkwardly in the air for a moment before she pulled it back, still smiling brightly and confidently.
Katherine had been grateful for Sandra's care in the past, but seeing Sophia by Sandra's side now, she didn't want to deal with the Melville family anymore. She coldly pulled her hand away. "Grandma, I need to hit the restroom. Alex is just over there; you can go find him."
After that, Katherine brushed past them and made a beeline for the restroom.
Sandra, looking worried, nudged Fiona. "Fiona, go after her. She's super pregnant; she might need a hand."
Fiona nodded and followed.
When Katherine came out of the restroom, she saw Fiona standing there, arms crossed, looking all judgy. Katherine ignored her and went to the sink to wash her hands.
Feeling snubbed, Fiona put her hands on her hips, annoyed. "Where the heck have you been these past six months?"
Katherine squeezed some soap into her palm, lathering it up, and said casually, "Where I went is none of your business, is it?"
Fiona frowned. "Of course, it is! You're Alex's wife. How can you just up and leave like that?"
Katherine chuckled. "You must be confused. I'm not Alex's wife. His wife is the one who came with you."
Fiona didn't get it at first but then caught on. "You mean Sophia? She's not..."
"Fiona!" A cheerful voice cut in as Sophia walked in with a smile.
Fiona didn't like Sophia and didn't bother hiding it. "What are you doing here?"
Sophia smiled warmly. "Mrs. Melville asked me to fetch you."
Fiona blinked. "Grandma called me? Why? Didn't she just ask me to stick with Katherine?"
Sophia said, "You have her bag, and her medicine is inside."
Fiona looked down and saw Sandra's small handbag on her arm, realizing Sandra must have been too excited to see Katherine and needed her meds.
Fiona hurried out. "I'll get this to her right away!"
Seeing Fiona leave, Sophia pulled out a lipstick from her bag and walked to the mirror next to Katherine to touch up her makeup. While outlining her lips, she glanced at Katherine through the mirror and smiled brightly. "Ms. Galatea, you're just as stunning as the rumors say, even without makeup. Yesterday, you were in disguise, but today you're showing your true face?"
Katherine rinsed off the soap, turned off the faucet, and slowly dried her hands with a paper towel. "Since Mr. Melville already found me, there's no point in hiding anymore."
Sophia finished applying her lipstick, pressed her lips together, and capped it. "Ms. Galatea, you seem pretty reluctant to be found by Alex."
Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Ms. Coleman, you probably don't want me found either, but don't worry, I have zero interest in him and won't mess with your spot."
Sophia shook her head with a smile. "No, I really want Alex to find you and I'm happy to see you two reunited. Ms. Galatea, it's really nice to meet you!"
Katherine narrowed her eyes slightly, trying to figure out if Sophia was being sincere or just messing with her.
