Chapter 322 Encountering Sunny at the Hacker Conference
A few days later, Katherine caught an early flight to Kryptonix City for the hacker forum.
Now, she didn't have to dodge Alex and could use public transportation freely.
By chance, Ambrosia was also in K City for business and had arranged a car to pick her up at the airport.
Katherine planned a short stay, so she only brought a backpack with a change of clothes.
With her hands in her pockets, she strolled toward the airport exit.
"Katherine!"
Someone called her name.
She stopped and looked in the direction of the voice.
A man in sunglasses was walking quickly toward her.
He pulled down his sunglasses, revealing a youthful face. "Katherine, it really is you! What brings you to Kryptonix City?"
It was Sunny!
Katherine raised an eyebrow and asked, "Shouldn't you be in school today?"
Sunny looked guilty. "Uh... I had something to do, so I took a day off!"
Katherine narrowed her eyes. "Really? Are you sure you didn't skip class?"
Sunny scratched his head. "Alright, I skipped, but I had a good reason!"
"What's that?" Katherine asked.
He explained, "I got a tip from a hacker friend that the hacker forum is being held in Kryptonix City today!"
Katherine frowned. "So, you want to go? Were you invited?"
Sunny shook his head. "No. It's an international event for top hackers. I'm just a newbie, so I'm not on the list."
Katherine glanced at him. "If you weren't invited, how do you plan to get in? Security is tight. If you get caught, they might deal with you to prevent leaks!"
Sunny, unfazed, raised his chin. "Hmph! My mentor is one of the top hackers, Rabbit! I'll just say I'm looking for my mentor, and they won't stop me!"
Katherine stayed silent.
This kid was too naive!
But speaking of which, the mentor he mentioned was her.
Of course, it was a one-sided apprenticeship; she never agreed!
Katherine stopped him. "You're a student. Instead of attending classes, you're skipping them to go to events? Do you want to go back on your own, or should I call Bernard to pick you up?"
Sunny panicked. "Katherine, why are you being like this? I shouldn't have told you the truth! Don't call Bernard. He's injured and can't deal with me. Stay out of it!"
Katherine looked surprised. "Bernard is injured? What happened?"
"Wow! Bernard, the untouchable, got injured? That's rare!"
Sunny pouted. "Yeah, it happened on my grandpa's birthday. Alex suddenly attacked Bernard. Bernard got mad and fought back. They ended up brawling, and Bernard's arm got fractured. I heard Alex got hurt too."
Katherine was stunned.
That day?!
After Alex forced her into the car, he left for a while.
So he went to fight Bernard?!
No wonder he came back with injuries.
But why?
Could it be because he found out Bernard poured coffee on her and went to avenge her?
No!
As Charles's father, Alex should be on Scarlett's side. Why would he fight his brother-in-law for a woman he supposedly didn't care about?
Seeing Katherine lost in thought, Sunny waved his hand in front of her face. "Hey! Are you there?"
Katherine snapped back to reality. She looked seriously at Sunny and said, "You're not going to any hacker forum! You're too young for this. Go home now! Or I'll tell Bernard!"
Without waiting for a response, Katherine turned and continued toward the airport exit.
Sunny was scared but really wanted to attend the conference. He tried to catch up with Katherine, pleading with her not to call Bernard.
But with the bustling crowd, he soon lost sight of her.
Katherine got into the car that was waiting for her and headed to her destination.
Not long after, her phone rang. It was Ambrosia.
She answered, and Ambrosia's calm yet alert voice came through. "Katherine, there's something you should know."
"What's up?" Katherine asked.
Ambrosia said, "The bodyguards I sent to protect you noticed a suspicious taxi following your car."
Someone was following her? Katherine glanced out the window.
Sure enough, there was a taxi tailing them.
With her sharp eyesight, she saw Sunny in the front passenger seat, pointing at her car and probably urging the driver to go faster.
He actually followed her. How troublesome!
Katherine sighed. "Yeah, I see it. It's a taxi."
Ambrosia softly asked, "Should we take care of it?"
Katherine thought for a moment and then calmly said, "No need to worry, it's just Sunny. He's no threat. But he's trying to sneak into the hacker conference today. Ambrosia, can you find a way to stop him? Make sure he doesn't get in, but remember, he's just a kid; don't hurt him."
Ambrosia responded, "Got it, Katherine. Don't worry."
Meanwhile, in the taxi behind, Sunny watched as the luxury car sped up, increasing the distance between them. If they didn't go faster, he would lose them again, and he was really anxious!
"Sir, hurry up! If you lose them, I won't pay you!"
