Chapter 841 Let Sister Come to See You
Bernard grunted, "Do you think I can not worry about Katherine?"
Sunny understood Bernard's feelings; Katherine was the person Bernard cared about the most in this world.
"I'm also worried about Katherine, but I have a feeling that Katherine and Alex will definitely end up together! They definitely will!"
Bernard glanced at Sunny and responded softly, "Alright, you should go to sleep too!"
Sunny thought Bernard looked quite tired and didn't want to disturb him further. He nodded and turned to leave.
However, before he could step out, Theron Caudill, the butler, suddenly burst in, looking alarmed, "Mr. Bernard Mitchell, Mr. Sunny Mitchell, something terrible has happened! Mr. Edwin Mitchell, he... he..."
Theron's face was pale, and he stuttered, unable to complete his sentence.
Bernard and Sunny both frowned simultaneously!
Sunny asked, "What happened? Wasn't Dad already found?"
Theron, trembling, said, "He slit his wrists and lost a lot of blood."
Sunny's pupils dilated, "What?"
Bernard's brow furrowed deeply, and he quickly walked up to Theron, "Do my grandparents know?"
Theron trembled, "I haven't informed them yet. I was afraid they couldn't handle it, so I came to inform you first!"
Bernard nodded and walked out quickly, saying, "Alright, make sure everyone keeps their mouths shut. This must not reach them!"
Theron quickly responded, "Yes!"
"Did you call an ambulance?"
"I did! I called an ambulance immediately, and the family doctor was already here!"
Bernard said nothing more, frowning as he walked towards Edwin's room.
Sunny, extremely anxious, followed closely behind Bernard!
How could this happen? Edwin seemed fine just a moment ago, and now he had slit his wrists!
What was wrong with Edwin? What could he not get over?
Bernard pushed open the door to Edwin's room, and the smell of blood hit him. There was blood all over the floor by the bed, and the sheets were stained with large patches of fresh blood, which was very striking.
The family doctor was urgently bandaging Edwin's wounds to stop the bleeding.
Bernard walked to the bedside and saw Edwin, pale and semi-conscious, still somewhat aware but very weak.
Sunny rushed over, eyes red, and threw himself beside Edwin, "Dad, what are you doing? Why would you do something so foolish? Do you not want Bernard and me anymore?"
Edwin had no strength to speak, but he heard Sunny's voice. His eyes slowly moved to look at Sunny, showing some reluctance but with a hollow, resigned look.
Bernard looked down at him sternly, "What right do you have to die?"
Edwin looked at Bernard, somewhat stunned and self-mocking. He didn't want to explain and had no strength to do so.
He just wanted to be free, to see the person he longed for day and night.
"You should live, to fully experience the feeling of living worse than death, to endure every lonely, painful night. Only then can you barely make up for the suffering my mother and sister have endured all these years!"
Bernard's words to a dying man were harsh and unmerciful.
Edwin's face grew even paler upon hearing Bernard's words. He wanted to speak but couldn't make a sound due to the excessive blood loss.
He looked as if he was about to die!
Sunny was terrified and quickly pushed Bernard away, "Bernard, don't say these things to Dad now; saving him is the priority!"
Bernard replied, "He won't die! He has to live, to face his own sins!"
Just then, the sound of an ambulance came from outside.
At the hospital.
When Edwin woke up again, he saw the stark white walls and smelled the disinfectant.
"Dad, you're finally awake!" Sunny's worried face appeared.
Edwin was dazed, realizing he hadn't died after all, and a bitter look appeared in his eyes.
Sunny sat by the bed and said, "Dad, don't ever do something so foolish again! Grandparents don't know you're in the hospital yet. If they find out, they'll be scared to death!"
Edwin said nothing, closing his eyes, not wanting to face the world.
Sunny continued, "Dad, the doctor said you need to take these painkillers when you wake up! Come on, let me help you sit up and take them, then you can lie back down."
Edwin remained motionless, lying flat and refusing Sunny's help, not intending to take the medicine.
Sunny was a bit frustrated, "Dad, you need to take them!"
Edwin still didn't respond.
Sunny was helpless.
"Leave him be. If he doesn't take the medicine, let him suffer!" Bernard's voice echoed in the room.
He had been there all along, sitting on the couch, looking at his phone.
Hearing Bernard's voice, Edwin suddenly opened his eyes and turned his head to look at Bernard, his voice hoarse, "Bernard, when you were at home, you said that my suffering alive would make up for the hardships your mother and sister endured. Does that mean they are still alive?"
Bernard continued looking at his phone, his attitude extremely cold, "Whether they are alive or not has nothing to do with you!"
Hearing a glimmer of hope in Bernard's words, Edwin strained to sit up, "Bernard, I know you hate me, but no matter how much you hate me, can I see them, please?"
Seeing Edwin struggling, Sunny quickly helped him sit up.
"Bernard, stop tormenting Dad! Look at him now."
Sunny felt deeply for Edwin. He had never seen Edwin like this before and didn't want to hide the truth any longer, "Dad, I know where my sister is. I can ask her to come to the hospital to see you!"
Edwin looked at Sunny in surprise, "Really?"
Sunny nodded firmly, "Really! Dad, cooperate with the treatment and take your medicine. When the sun rises, I'll call my sister and ask her to come to the hospital to see you!"
A light ignited in Edwin's eyes. He sat up and reached for the medicine.
Due to his weakness, Edwin's movements were difficult. After Sunny helped him take the medicine, he lay back down and was told to rest well.
Edwin, eager to see Laura, nodded cooperatively and closed his eyes to rest.
Seeing Edwin like this, Sunny felt a deep ache in his heart. He turned and sat beside Bernard, whispering, "Bernard, if Dad continues like this, Grandparents will find out sooner or later! If they are scared to death, our family will be ruined! If Katherine can come to see Edwin, he will cooperate with the treatment and recover faster, and he won't try to take his life again!"
