Chapter 426 Katherine Called Her Husband
Alex's eyebrows shot up, a flattered smile spreading across his face when Katherine casually mentioned "husband."
Katherine, clearly jealous, was protective of her turf.
Hearing Scarlett's pained groans, Alex found it annoying. He patted Katherine's head, soothing her, "Alright, she didn't touch me. Let her go!"
Katherine let Scarlett go and shot Alex a warning look. "Alex, you better behave yourself! I won't stand for a cheater!"
Alex frowned and flicked her forehead. "Who are you calling a potential cheater?"
Katherine rubbed her forehead, annoyed. "A guy who can't say no is a cheater in my book! Someone's making a move on you, and you don't even react!"
Alex moved away from Scarlett and sat next to Katherine, holding her hand. "Yes, ma'am! From now on, no one touches me, not even a bit."
Katherine frowned again. "Are you saying I'm not a person?"
Alex sighed. "Would I dare? I mean, except for you, no one else can. Is that okay?"
Katherine replied. "Barely acceptable!"
Alex pinched her nose. "Why are you so hard to please? I promised not to let anyone else touch me, and you have to do the same, only letting me touch you!"
Scarlett, who had come over to intervene, ended up witnessing their affection and felt her jealousy boil over.
Alex didn't even glance at her. Scarlett clenched her teeth and walked away, nails digging into her palms.
She had other matters to handle. Once those were sorted, she'd deal with Katherine.
Scarlett disappeared down the hospital corridor. Soon after, Sunny was wheeled out of the emergency room.
Sunny was still unconscious. The medical staff settled him into a private room and briefed the family on his condition and necessary precautions.
Sunny needed rest, and they'd check his cognitive functions once he woke up.
The test results for the pomegranate juice weren't ready yet; they'd be available in three hours.
During this time, Scarlett quietly slipped into the lab, discreetly handed the technician a bank card, and told him to keep the true contents of the pomegranate juice hidden.
The technician took her card without hesitation.
Leaving the lab, Scarlett smiled triumphantly, confident she had control over the situation.
Katherine wanted to use the pomegranate juice to accuse her mother? Dream on!
In this world, money talked. The technician didn't even blink before taking her card and agreeing to her request!
Katherine would be so disappointed, and she deserved it!
Three hours passed.
Sunny still hadn't woken up, but the test results for the pomegranate juice were ready.
The doctor entered the room with the results to inform the family.
Seeing the doctor with the report, everyone stood up and gathered around, eager to hear the results.
The doctor said, "The test results for the pomegranate juice are in. Let me explain the cause of the patient's gastric bleeding."
Bernard nodded. "Alright, doc, go ahead."
The doctor glanced at the report. "Here's the thing, the components of the pomegranate juice—"
"Wait!" Scarlett interrupted, stepping forward. "Sir, please wait! I have something to say first!"
Bernard frowned. "Scarlett, what are you doing? Whatever it is, it can wait. Let the doctor speak first!"
Scarlett looked at Bernard, determined. "Bernard, no! My mother was wronged today, and I need to seek justice for her!"
Turning to Katherine, who stood slightly behind, Scarlett, with teary eyes, asked, "Katherine, at the emergency room door, you suspected the pomegranate juice my mother made caused Sunny's condition, right?"
Katherine didn't deny it. "Yes, that's right."
Scarlett then looked at Alice Tate with feigned heartache. "The test results are out, and the doctor is about to announce them! Before he does, I want you to promise that if there's nothing wrong with the pomegranate juice, you'll admit you wronged my mother, kneel, and apologize to her, clearing her name!"
Kneeling to apologize was harsh!
Bernard frowned deeply. "Scarlett, don't do this!"
Scarlett, tears streaming, stubbornly said, "Bernard, I know you think I'm being aggressive! I'm not usually like this. But today, my mother was wronged, and I can't accept that! Katherine can treat me however she wants, but she can't slander my mother! Bernard, didn't you say that anyone who makes a mistake must apologize?"
Bernard had no rebuttal but still disagreed. "No..."
"Alright! I agree!" Katherine interrupted, looking directly at Scarlett. "I promise! If there's nothing wrong with the pomegranate juice, I'll kneel here, bow three times to Alice, and apologize!"
Her immediate agreement made Alex, Bernard, and Edwin frown.
Alex wouldn't let Katherine suffer like that. Bernard wouldn't allow Katherine to kneel to anyone, right or wrong. Edwin felt it was excessive and inappropriate, not wanting to see Katherine humiliated.
With her daughter standing up for her, Alice finally felt vindicated. She pretended to sob and wiped her tears, saying magnanimously, "Scarlett, let it go! Ms. Galatea probably didn't mean to wrong me; let's consider it a reasonable suspicion. We won't hold it against her!"
Scarlett knew her mother wasn't genuinely letting Katherine off, just putting on a show. She feigned heartache. "Mom! We can't let it go! Bernard and Dad didn't trust you earlier, and as your daughter, I must seek justice for you. How can I let an outsider wrong you for nothing? Other things can be let go, but I must pursue this matter!"
