Chapter 997 Shoot a Commercial
That night, after Hellen and Vincent went to bed, Bernard still went to the guest room, which was the best arrangement for both of them.
The next morning, Christina saw the headline news after getting up.
Virginia came forward and issued a public statement to clarify yesterday's scandal, saying that Bernard was just a friend who dropped her off at the hotel and then left. She stayed at the hotel with her assistant.
With Virginia's clarification, the scandal lost its heat.
Even though the reporters knew that exposing Bernard's identity would be a huge news story that could crash the platform, they didn't dare to go against the Mitchell family by exposing Bernard's photos and identity.
Yesterday's news was actually leaked by a few rookie reporters who didn't recognize Bernard and dared to publish it. They had since been reprimanded by their boss. Christina searched online again and only found Virginia's clarification. The previous news posts had been taken down.
"Christina, come here!"
After breakfast, Hellen took Christina for a walk in the garden, holding her hand and kindly asking, "Christina, did you see yesterday's news?"
With the news being so hot yesterday, Hellen must have known about it too. Christina couldn't hide it from Bernard, so she nodded honestly, "Yes, I saw it yesterday."
"No wonder I felt something was off between you and Bernard yesterday." Hellen held her hand and walked forward, "I've had everything taken care of, those false news reports won't be seen again."
Sure enough, the reason this matter was handled so quickly was because of Hellen's intervention.
Bernard had explained the whole situation to her yesterday, and Christina wasn't too concerned about it anymore. "Mrs. Mitchell, I'm sorry to trouble you again! Actually, there was just a misunderstanding between Bernard and me, and he has already cleared it up."
"Bernard can be so thoughtless sometimes. He's a married man and should know better than to put himself in a compromising situation by sending a female friend to a hotel! You have every right to be upset, I would be too!" Hellen suddenly stopped and looked at Christina with a determined expression, "Christina, I now consider you a member of the Mitchell family, and as far as I'm concerned, Bernard's wife is you, and no one can change that! Facing Hellen's firm gaze, Christina suddenly felt guilty.

Bernard didn't come home for the next few days. According to the family, it seemed that a project at the company had some issues, and he needed to work overtime to handle them.
After what happened that night, Christina felt awkward being alone with Bernard, so his recent absence made her feel much more at ease.
After losing her job at the Rojas Group, Christina still hadn't given up on finding a job.
Even though Bernard said that the three million dollars was her bonus for playing the role of his wife and she didn't need to repay it, Christina was determined to pay it back and was actively looking for a job.
She sent out many resumes, hoping to get some responses. Now, any job would at least give her some experience!
Just as she closed her computer, the phone rang. It was a call from Ruben.
Christina hesitated for a moment but still answered the call.
Even though she had promised Bernard not to limit her contact with Ruben, she thought it was normal to answer a call from an old schoolmate.
"Hello, Ruben."
"Christina, are you busy?"
"No, I'm not busy. Ruben, is there something you need?"
"Christina, I wanted to ask you again, are you really not planning to work at the company?" Ruben still hadn't given up on inviting her to the company, "The Rojas Group may not be the top company, but the benefits are good. Are you sure you don't want to reconsider?"
The position of director at the Rojas Group was a job many people wanted but couldn't get. "What?" Christina felt guilty, realizing she had caused such a big problem.
Ruben had always taken good care of her and often helped her when she needed it. Christina didn't want to cause trouble for Ruben.

Ruben chuckled, "Yes, you can come to work for our company."
Christina looked troubled, "Ruben, I really can't work at the Rojas Group. How much is the penalty fee? I'll pay for it."
Although she said that, Christina was worried that the amount might be too large for her to afford.
Ruben laughed, "I don't need money, I need you."
"What?" Christina was once again confused, "Ruben, I'm already married."
Ruben laughed heartily on the other end of the phone, "Christina, what are you thinking? Is that how you see me?"
"No, Ruben, I... I was joking!" Realizing her misunderstanding, Christina felt embarrassed and quickly found an excuse to cover her awkwardness.
Ruben stopped laughing, "Christina, what I mean is, my company now needs a suitable commercial actress. Cheryl can't shoot because of her injury, and since you're her sister and you two look somewhat alike, Christina, why don't you come and finish the commercial?"
"Me, shoot a commercial?" Christina frowned, doubting herself, "But I've never shot a commercial before, and I'm not famous. I'm not suitable for this."
"Christina, you can do it. If you don't help me now, our company will really have to pay a lot of money, and it's not a small amount."
