Chapter 255 Katherine's Downfall
Hearing Bernard's voice, Tony got flustered. He quickly grabbed the clothes he had just taken off and put them back on.
"Bernard, it's me, Tony! I was downstairs having a drink, felt a bit off, so I came here to rest! It's just me! What do you need?" Tony stammered.
Damn it, why did Bernard have to show up at this moment?
He remembered hearing Sophie mention that Katherine, aka Ms. Galatea, was Bernard's secretary. And he recalled Ms. Galatea saying she came with her boss.
This is bad, really, really bad!
If he had known Katherine was with Bernard, he wouldn't have done such a thing!
"Open the door!" Bernard demanded again.
Tony was terrified. He wouldn't dare provoke Bernard. He quickly dressed and opened the door, forcing a grin. "Bernard, what brings you here?"
Bernard's cold, indifferent glance made Tony step back automatically.
Bernard walked in and looked around, but didn't see anyone else.
Tony was stunned. Katherine was just here! Where did she go? It's better if she's not here; at least Bernard won't catch him red-handed, and he wouldn't have to explain himself!
"Bernard, who are you looking for? Didn't I just say, it's just me resting in this room!" Tony said.
Sophie sensed something was off and walked in immediately, scanning the room. She said with a strange expression, "Where is she? That's odd; I saw Katherine come in with Tony just now!"
Tony glared at Sophie, silently cursing her for causing trouble!
Just then, the sound of running water came from the bathroom. Sophie pointed and said, "Bernard, she must be in the bathroom!"
Bernard heard it too. He squinted and asked Tony, "Who's in the bathroom?"
Tony felt guilty and stammered, "No, no one!"
Sophie stated, "Bernard, it must be Katherine taking a post-coital shower."
She appeared both disbelieving and ashamed.
Tony realized Sophie had led Bernard here, aware that he had fallen into her trap. Already angry, he snapped, "Sophie, you damn woman, what nonsense are you spouting! Even if I did bring a woman in here, she wouldn't be taking a post-coital shower now. I'm not that quick!"
Sophie fell silent, thinking Tony was really shameless, quite a match for Katherine!
Bernard walked over with a stern face and knocked on the bathroom door. "Who's in there? Come out!"
But there was no response except for the sound of running water.
"Bernard, what's going on? Why are you and Sophie here? Did something happen?" asked Scarlett.
She had brought a few cousins to join in the excitement but pretended to just be passing by.
Sophie walked over to her friend and explained, "Scarlett, Bernard is looking for his secretary, Katherine! Who knew she would be here with Tony!"
Scarlett blushed immediately and replied, "Ah, how could that be? Katherine and Tony just met in the banquet hall!"
Sophie pouted and said, "Well! Some people develop feelings quickly, meeting and sleeping together in no time! Scarlett, maybe we're too old-fashioned. I really can't understand how someone can be so casual."
The girls Scarlett brought with her quickly took out their phones to message their friends about the juicy gossip!
And that's exactly what Scarlett desired. She wanted everyone to witness Katherine being taken advantage of, sleeping with a man, and being branded as tainted!
This way, Katherine would have no chance to compete with her for Bernard!
Scarlett's heart was dark, but she wore a kind and helpless expression and sighed, "Bernard, although this is happening quickly, Katherine and Tony are both single. It's their freedom. Let's not interfere and let them date properly in the future!"
Freedom? Her so-called freedom was hooking up with a man she just met in a room?
Bernard couldn't explain the anger boiling inside him.
Over the past few days, he had thought Katherine was capable and had a good work attitude, changing his initial impression of her. He thought she wasn't the gold-digger he had assumed.
Now, Bernard was only left with disappointment and disgust!
A talented and attractive girl like her, how could she be so easily led into a room by a man's sweet talk?
What kind of upbringing did she have?
His good manners kept Bernard from losing his temper, but his voice was frighteningly calm. "Scarlett, open the bathroom door and get her out!"
Scarlett pretended to persuade her brother a bit before walking to the bathroom door.
She wanted to see Katherine humiliated and ruined more than anyone!
At the bathroom door, Scarlett knocked symbolically. "Katherine, sorry, but if you don't come out, I'm going to open the door!"
There was still no response from the bathroom.
Scarlett pretended to be forced and opened the door. "Katherine."
There was no one in the bathroom, just water running in the tub.
Strange? Where did she go?
Sophie followed Scarlett into the bathroom and was equally stunned to find no one there. They searched the bathroom but found no trace of anyone.
A crowd had gathered at the door, eager to see who would be so shameless as to sneak off with a man during the banquet!
Hearing Scarlett say no one was in the bathroom, Bernard also walked in and glanced around. Then he turned and coldly asked Tony, "Where's she?"
Tony was as baffled as they were. He didn't know where Ms. Galatea had gone or how she had disappeared!
But he quickly played dumb and said, "What Katherine? I don't know her! Bernard, this Katherine you're looking for isn't here!"
Bernard squinted his eyes, exuding pressure. "I'll ask you one last time: where is she?"
Tony's back was cold and he stammered, "I, I don't know."
"Mr. Mitchell, are you looking for me?"
Suddenly, Katherine's voice came from the back of the crowd.
