Chapter 64 What's She Nervous About
Katherine smiled faintly, "I'm here to start working."
"You're here to work? Weren't you a maid in a wealthy employer's house?"
"That employer doesn't come home often, and there isn't much to do at home, so I came out to do a part-time job to earn some extra money."
Sherry looked disdainfully at Katherine, seeing her desperate look to earn a meager salary, which made Sherry feel contemptuous. She sneered, "You still need to take on a part-time job? It seems like your wealthy employer doesn't pay you much!"
Katherine nodded, "It's not much."
"What's wrong, Sherry? Why are you still standing at the door? Aren't you supposed to go for a magazine cover shoot?"
A very friendly middle-aged man's voice came from the office.
Sherry turned around and flashed a sweet smile at the middle-aged man inside, "Bristow, I was just about to leave, but I got blocked at the door by someone!"
"Blocked? Let me see who dares to block the path of our star, Sherry!"
Bristow came out to check, initially with a posture to reprimand an inexperienced subordinate. However, upon seeing Katherine standing at the office door, Bristow was stunned.
Having worked in the entertainment industry for many years, he had seen countless beauties, and he rarely found a woman's appearance stunning anymore.
But a girl with such natural beauty like the one at the door was rare in the entertainment industry!
"You are..." Bristow regained his composure and asked her.
Katherine, with a calm demeanor, politely introduced herself, "Bristow, I'm Katherine. Someone asked me to find you, saying you would arrange a job for me."
Bristow was taken aback, "...Katherine? So it's you! Come in with me!"
Mr. Nelson had just called to inform him to arrange a job for a girl named Katherine.
Although Mr. Nelson didn't specify Katherine's identity, anyone Mr. Nelson personally instructed Alexander's associate to arrange a job for must have some background so that he couldn't neglect it.
Katherine followed Bristow into the office.
Sherry was left hanging at the office door, looking displeased.
Sherry thought Bristow would come out and reprimand Katherine a bit!
Instead, Bristow, who initially seemed like he might scold Katherine, now looked at her with a strange expression and politely invited her inside, leaving Sherry standing there!
What's going on?
Sherry felt unhappy and decided not to leave, turning back into Bristow's office.
Sherry wanted to see what job Katherine would take here!
"Ms. Galatea, do you have a preference for any particular position?" Bristow, sitting behind his desk, asked Katherine kindly.
Katherine replied, "Any work, but higher pay would be better!"
Bristow looked at her with some regret, pondering, "Hmm... Ms. Galatea, would you consider becoming a celebrity? Your appearance is quite good, and if you are willing to debut as an artist, I believe you will have a bright future."
An artist?
Katherine furrowed her brows, "I'm not interested! Are there any other positions?"
She was just here to make quick money, planning to work for three months and then leave. Katherine had no intention of working long-term!
Upon hearing Bristow's intention to sign Katherine, Sherry suddenly felt a sense of crisis.
Although she disliked Katherine and refused to admit she was beautiful, in this situation, Sherry had to face reality and be cautious!
If Katherine also signed with the Melville Group for a debut, she might steal Sherry's limelight and share her resources?!
No, she absolutely wouldn't allow that to happen!
Thinking this, Sherry quickly intervened, "Bristow, she's here to find a job, right? Why not let her work with me? I happen to need an assistant!"
Bristow looked hesitant, "Well..."
Since Mr. Nelson sent Katherine, Bristow felt that assigning her the role of an artist's assistant, a job that involved taking care of people, was not suitable.
"Sherry, I appreciate your kindness, but this might not work because Ms. Galatea is..."
"May I ask how much the assistant's monthly salary is?" Katherine interrupted Bristow, asking.
Bristow was taken aback, finding Katherine quite peculiar.
She had no interest in becoming an artist but seemed somewhat interested in being an artist's assistant.
Sherry glanced at Katherine smugly, "As my assistant, you'll earn two thousand dollars per month! Don't worry. I won't mistreat you!"
Upon hearing the price, Katherine leaned back in her chair, "The salary is too low. I won't take it!"
Katherine had already sensed what Sherry was worried about.
Sherry frowned, "You find two thousand dollars too little? Then how much do you want?"
Katherine yawned lazily, raising a slender index finger lightly, "Four thousand!"
Sherry seemed to find it amusing, rolled her eyes, and mocked, "Four thousand dollars? Do you want four thousand dollars as a salary for being a mere assistant? Your expectations are too high!"
Ignoring Sherry, Katherine looked at Bristow across from her, "Bristow, did you just say I could sign as an artist? I assume artists' salaries are quite high, right?"
Seeing her interest in debuting, Bristow smiled immediately, "Of course! When you debut, you won't just receive a fixed salary. You'll also have substantial income from royalties."
Katherine looked intrigued, "That sounds great. In that case, I'll..."
Seeing this, Sherry became anxious, "Four thousand dollars it is. Come be my assistant!"
Katherine raised an eyebrow at Sherry, smiling slightly, "Can I get an advance on one month's salary first?"
Sherry's expression soured, whispering, "Katherine, don't cross the line!"
Ignoring her again, Katherine turned to Bristow.
"Bristow, I've made up my mind. I think being an artist..."
"Sure! You can definitely get an advance on your salary!" Sherry compromised through gritted teeth.
Katherine smiled and took out her bank card, "Well then, could you please transfer me one month's salary?"
Sherry held back her frustration, forced a smile, and scanned Katherine's code, planning various ways to deal with this cunning little troublemaker in the future!
Bristow couldn't quite understand the situation between the two girls, and he didn't want to get involved. However, he really wanted to keep Katherine, a rare beauty, around.
"Ms. Galatea, are you really willing to be an artist's assistant? This job can be quite demanding. Why not reconsider staying as an artist?"
With Sherry's four thousand dollars already advanced, Katherine was satisfied. She smirked and then politely declined, "Bristow, I appreciate your offer. I don't have much artistic talent, so being an assistant would be easier for me."
Bristow sighed regretfully, "Alright then."
What a pity for a little beauty like her. If she had chosen to debut, she would surely have become famous!
Sherry hurriedly pulled Katherine out of the company, fearing any further changes.
In the maid's car.
Having received her salary, Katherine had already conscientiously switched into assistant mode, handing Sherry a bottle of soda, "Sherry, what are you nervous about? Here, have some water to calm down!"
Feeling like she had just been swindled out of four thousand dollars, Sherry was still feeling annoyed and glared at Katherine disdainfully, "What am I nervous about? Don't use your shallow insights to guess my mood!"
"Not nervous? Then why were you in such a hurry to pull me out just now? Weren't you afraid that Bristow would actually sign me?"
"Katherine, don't think you're anything special just because Bristow wants to sign you! With your abilities, even if you sign with the company, you won't become famous! I'm worried you'll embarrass our Galatea Family!"
Katherine raised an eyebrow, "Is that so?"
