Chapter 889 Don't Want to Mention Him

So, how did Luara manage to get by all these years alone?

The more Claire thought about it, the more heartbroken she felt, even her breathing was painful.

Nora handed her a glass of water, "Alright, you must be exhausted from traveling overnight. Have some water and rest a bit. When the sun comes up, I'll take you to find that girl named Katherine."

Claire snapped out of her thoughts, took the water from Nora, and sipped it, trying to calm her complicated emotions.

"By the way, Nora, how are things with Brent? Are you still having issues?"

Now that she had calmed down, Claire remembered to ask about Nora's relationship.

Mentioning the clueless Brent brought a frown to Nora's face, "I don't want to talk about him."

Already sleep-deprived and woken up early by Claire, Nora didn't look too well and sat down next to Linda.

Claire had seen how Nora had endured for love over the years and understood her well, feeling both empathetic and pained, "Men, you can't rely on any of them! If he keeps making you this upset, just divorce him!"

Nora gave a bitter smile, "Yeah, if only it were that easy to get a divorce!"

Linda's innocent eyes were filled with curiosity, "Ms. Ayers, are all men really unreliable? Then why do so many girls still choose to get married?"

This question stumped Claire. It wasn't a difficult question to answer, but Linda was still young, and she didn't want to influence a child with her own failed experiences.

"Linda, what your mom and I are talking about is just our own experiences. It doesn't represent all men. You're still young, don't overthink it!"

Linda tilted her head, "That's strange! Katherine is married too, and her husband was taken by Sophia, but she still insists on waiting for him to come back. If men are all bad, why is Katherine so determined to wait for one?"

Claire was taken aback, "What did you say? Katherine is married? Her husband was taken by Sophia?"

Nora hadn't given Claire the full details about Katherine over the phone, only mentioning that she was her lifesaver. The complicated relationship between Katherine and Sophia was too long to explain, so she hadn't brought it up.

Now seemed like a good time to explain, so Nora sighed regretfully and began to tell Claire about what had happened to Katherine in recent years.

Exhausted from the amusement park, Katherine had a rare, dreamless, good night's sleep.

When she woke up in the morning, she saw George, Edith, and Charles snuggled up beside her, and a gentle smile appeared on her face.

George, Edith, and Charles were also worn out from the night before and were still sleeping soundly like logs.

This kind of life was actually very beautiful, waking up every day with the people she loved most by her side.

But there were still two missing.

There was a knock on the door.

Katherine snapped out of her thoughts, tucked George, Edith, and Charles in, and got out of bed to open the door.

Sandra was standing at the door, supported by a maid.

Seeing Sandra so early in the morning, Katherine was a bit puzzled, "Grandma, if you needed me, you could have just sent someone to call me. Why come yourself?"

Sandra's kind eyes fell on Katherine, "It's nothing! I just wanted to see you! Katherine, you must be exhausted from taking George, Edith, and Charles to the amusement park yesterday, right?"

Katherine shook her head, "No, they were very well-behaved. Grandma, please come in and talk."

Sandra peeked into the room, saw that George, Edith, and Charles were still sleeping soundly, and shook her head, "I won't go in. Let them sleep a bit longer! Katherine, I have a favor to ask of you."

Katherine raised an eyebrow curiously, "Grandma, what is it?"

Sandra spoke earnestly, "In a few days, it's Teresa's wedding. The Harris family sent an invitation, but considering that Jackie and I aren't in the best of health, we decided not to go and cause any trouble. Could you take the gift on our behalf? Teresa has always been Alex's favorite niece, and now that Alex isn't here, I'm afraid we'll have to trouble you."

So that was what it was.

Katherine immediately nodded, "Don't worry, Grandma. I'm quite familiar with Teresa and her fiancé. It's no trouble at all; it's something I should do."

Sandra smiled kindly, "Then I'll go downstairs and have someone prepare your favorite breakfast. Let the kids sleep a bit longer before coming down to eat."

Katherine obediently replied, "Okay."

Sandra, supported by the maid, turned and went downstairs.

Katherine squinted her eyes, took out her phone, and checked the date. With so much going on lately, she had almost forgotten about Teresa and Frank's wedding!

She thought for a moment and then called Teresa.

The phone rang for a long time before it was answered, "Hello."

Teresa's voice sounded tired.

While picking out clothes for the kids from the wardrobe, Katherine asked, "How are the wedding preparations going?"

Recognizing Katherine's voice, Teresa perked up a bit, "Oh, Katherine, the wedding preparations are almost done, but there's no time to get a custom wedding dress! I'm having trouble choosing a ready-made one and haven't decided which one to pick."

Katherine suggested, "I have some free time this afternoon. If you don't mind, I can go with you to take a look."

Teresa was delighted, "I don't mind at all! Katherine, you have the best taste. I'd be thrilled if you could help me pick out a wedding dress! What time this afternoon? Should Frank and I come to pick you up?"

Katherine asked, "Are you two together now?"

At that moment, she heard some rustling noises on the phone, and Frank took the phone, "Katherine, yes, we're together, still in bed! Your call came a bit too early and interrupted my good time!"

Katherine said, "You're about to start a family, be a bit more serious!"

Frank chuckled on the other end, "What's wrong with that? Isn't it perfectly legal for me to share a bed with my wife? Katherine, you forget that we're already legally married!"

Katherine rolled her eyes, "Pick me up at the office during lunch break. We'll have lunch together and help her pick out a wedding dress."

Frank replied, "Yes, Katherine!"

Teresa took the phone back and explained, "Katherine, don't listen to his nonsense! We were just sleeping in the same bed, nothing else!"

Katherine laughed, "You two are about to get married. Whether there's anything else or not is none of my business. No need to explain to me! Alright, continue what you were doing. We'll talk at lunch."

"Katherine, see you at lunch then!" Teresa hung up the phone, her face still blushing.
